Invincible Divine Doctor of the Beautiful Lady-Chapter 636 - 621 Imperial Sword
Chapter 636: Chapter 621 Imperial Sword
Seeing the Founding Medal in Tangyu’s hand, Yu Lingfeng’s eyes also widened, a few shades of sheer surprise flashing through his eyes, which clearly was beyond his expectations. Yu Lingfeng was deeply shaken in his heart, "How is this possible, it cannot be, how could he possibly have the Founding Medal? No, it must be the Zhang Family, the medal that old Master Zhang has never used. Damn it, it is infuriating, what on earth does Tangyu have that makes old Master Zhang willing to give him the Founding Medal."
Although many thoughts, complicated as they might be, crossed his mind, they did so in just a blink of an eye, and almost instantly Yu Lingfeng hid them away, "What is this, I don’t recognize it. Do you really think a broken badge will serve as the Imperial Sword? We from the Xuanwu Group have plenty of badges."
"Really now, but your earlier expression already betrayed you. If you don’t even recognize the Founding Medal, then you don’t have the qualifications to be the deputy head of the Xuanwu Group. Go ahead and shoot if you want to now. You know better than I do what the crime is for killing the owner of the Founding Medal. It would be quite a feat to drag down both you and your Xuanwu Group, along with the Yu Family, in my death. Don’t harbor any wishful thinking, don’t be deluded. Unless you’re a fool, I’m sure you can guess who gave me this badge. If you kill me, it will definitely come to light. Even if you refuse to speak, these four will tell all. Are you sure you still want to kill me?" Tangyu sneered disdainfully, confident that Yu Lingfeng would not dare to kill him. Yu Lingfeng’s look had given away everything. Others might not understand Yu Lingfeng’s look, but Tangyu understood it very clearly.
Furthermore, Tangyu was certain that Yu Lingfeng would not dare to deceive high above and deceive below, for a soldier has his pride and integrity, and a soldier’s duty is to obey orders. Even though Yu Lingfeng was their captain, there were many superiors above him. As long as these officers questioned them, they would surely report everything that happened here truthfully. By then, Yu Lingfeng would be difficult to escape from death. Once the Founding Medal appeared, it would inevitably alarm the master of this nation, and by then, should the master of this nation wish for Yu Lingfeng’s death, no one would be able to save him. To speak further, this matter might even implicate the Yu Family. Even though the Yu Family was one of the six great families of Capital City, they were not without rivals, not without enemies. Once the rivals of the Yu Family learned of this incident, they would certainly make a big deal out of it, and it was unpredictable what the Yu Family would have to endure then.
So, even if Yu Lingfeng were mad, even if Yu Lingfeng did not care for his own life, he would absolutely not dare to kill Tangyu. Moreover, Yu Lingfeng was not mad, and he naturally would not trade his life for Tangyu’s.
Yu Lingfeng had thought through this situation very clearly, and Tangyu had long since understood it as well. Everything was under Tangyu’s control, which is why he dared to be so calm.
"If you hadn’t been so cautious, if you hadn’t brought those four with you, maybe you could have taken a gamble to kill me, then take the Founding Medal and deny everything, maybe you could have covered it up. How about now, do you have any regrets? However, killing me alone would not have been such an easy task either, who ends up killing who is still uncertain. Calling you stupid, yet you are quite clever." Tangyu said, feigning candor.
Yu Lingfeng’s mouth twitched slightly as he coldly said, "Tangyu, you’d better not provoke me further."
Tangyu curled his lip and scoffed, "Unfortunately for you, my favorite pastime is to kick someone when they’re down. I was brought here by you for no reason, then questioned, threatened, and had a gun pointed at my head—I’ve suffered so much. How come now that I’m reclaiming a bit of interest, it makes you fly into a rage? If you can’t take it, that’s fine, no problem at all, you’re the one with the gun anyway. If you shoot and kill me, I definitely won’t be able to dodge."
"Hmph," Yu Lingfeng grew so angry that his body started to tremble. He truly wished he could shoot Tangyu dead then and there, but he could not bear the consequences of such an action.
"If you’re not going to kill me, then could you please take the trouble of sending me out? I won’t expect you to take me all the way, just let me out. And give me back my phone. I’m only giving you one chance, if you’re willing, then fine, I’ll just sit here and wait for someone to pick me up. I believe, if I don’t show up today, you certainly won’t have an easy time. Don’t glare at me like that, yes, I’m warning you. Of course, you can also take it as a threat. Whatever suits you, I’m easygoing like that. Think carefully and then answer me," Tangyu said.
Yu Lingfeng’s face turned purplish with rage, hating the audacity of Tangyu to threaten him so.
However, Yu Lingfeng also knew all too well that if he didn’t let Tangyu go, and this matter escalated, it would be difficult for him to clean up the mess. In the end, he would be the one to suffer. With the Founding Medal in Tangyu’s possession, he had already gone beyond Yu Lingfeng’s control. If he continued to detain Tangyu by force, he would be violating the dignity of the Founding Medal, and he would inevitably receive the appropriate punishment.
"Escort him out," Yu Lingfeng ordered.
The door opened again, letting in the sunlight that shone brightly with a red sun suspended aloft. The morning sun was so beautiful, so round, so red. The horizon it illuminated was just as gorgeous, dazzling, radiant, and extraordinarily vibrant with color.
Having left the secret room, Tangyu took a deep breath of the fresh air outside and looked at the sun with a sinister smile. His smile was as bright as a flower, yet unexpectedly carried a hint of wicked charm.
Tangyu surveyed his surroundings, took the phone and turned it on, ready to send a message of reassurance to his family first, and then have Huangfu Jing come pick him up. In Capital City, Tangyu knew only Huangfu Jing. Although he came to the city in such a manner, since he was here, he still had to meet this friend, especially since she was the woman he liked.
Just then, a car drove straight in, and from its license plate full of zeros, it was clear the car was very impressive. A middle-aged man in his fifties stepped out of the car, exuding an air of authority. Behind him followed He Pengxuan and two Zhongnanhai bodyguards, a formation that looked extraordinarily distinguished.
The presence that warranted such respect from He Pengxuan was undoubtedly someone significant.
Seeing the newcomer, Yu Lingfeng’s eyebrows raised and he immediately greeted, "Minister Lv, what brings you here?"
The man who had arrived was the Minister of the Ministry of State Security. Although he was nominally the Minister, other identities also cloaked Minister Lu. Yu Lingfeng might disregard He Pengxuan, but he dared not overlook Minister Lu.
Both Minister Lu and He Pengxuan turned their gazes toward Tangyu, visibly surprised to see that Tangyu was safe and sound.
Just as Minister Lu was about to rebuke Yu Lingfeng, he swallowed his words and looked at Tangyu instead, asking, "Are you alright?"
"Thank you for your concern, Minister Lu. I’m fine now. Since he didn’t dare to kill me, he had no choice but to let me go," Tangyu said.
Minister Lu’s brow furrowed slightly; he obviously arrived late. What perplexed him was Yu Lingfeng’s actions. Why had he released Tangyu? Was there some higher authority involved before his arrival? That seemed impossible, though. If someone else had been here, he should have known, and they would have taken Tangyu away directly. How had the previously aggressive Yu Lingfeng suddenly released Tangyu so meekly?
"Yu Lingfeng, what exactly is going on here?" Minister Lu demanded.
Looking aggrievedly at Tangyu, Yu Lingfeng explained, "He possesses the Founding Medal. I don’t have ironclad evidence to prove that he killed the four members of the Xuanwu Group, and I currently lack the authority to interrogate him directly. So, I had no choice but to release him. Minister Lu, I will provide a detailed report on the incident and take full responsibility for it."
"This isn’t about who takes responsibility. Yu Lingfeng, do you realize how absurd your actions were? You lead the Xuanwu Group and, although you may not need to report to anyone, you should have considered who you were dealing with. Do you know how big this has become? Do you understand the influence of this event? The leaders of our country were alarmed by this incident and asked about it personally. You know, even the South Sea was surrounded by many citizens. You should have consulted with the higher-ups before acting. Even if you had some evidence against Tangyu, you should have discussed a proper resolution instead of acting unilaterally and forcefully bringing him to Capital City. If not for Tangyu’s possession of the Founding Medal, I suspect I would only be seeing a corpse now, wouldn’t I?"
Yu Lingfeng’s face was cold, but he said nothing.
"Hmph, I’ll deal with you later," Minister Lu snorted coldly, turning away from Yu Lingfeng to face Tangyu. His brow creased and he was utterly astonished to find that Tangyu had a Founding Medal—an actual symbol of the Imperial Sword. There were only a few remaining in existence and they were rarely used. He had not expected to see one with Tangyu.
He Pengxuan was even more surprised. No wonder Tangyu was so calm and had confidently refused his offer. This man truly had deep schemes.
"Let’s go, Tangyu," Minister Lu said after observing for a while.
Tangyu nodded, "Thank you, Minister Lu. Just escort me out of here and that’ll suffice; I’ll call a friend to pick me up later. I can make my own way back, so there’s no need to trouble you further."
"Alright, have it your way,’’ Minister Lu acknowledged with a nod.
Everyone quickly got into the car and drove away from the location.
Tangyu switched on his phone and first made a brief call to Lin Feifei to assure her of his safety before hanging up without elaborating. Then, he called Huangfu Jing, who was surprised to receive his call but overjoyed to hear he was safe. Upon hearing that Tangyu wanted her to pick him up, she readily agreed with great pleasure. With other people present in the car, Tangyu kept these calls short before hanging up.
"A young hero indeed. Old Zhang made the right choice in selecting you as the inheritor of the Founding Medal," Minister Lu said, nodding his head with a look of approval for Tangyu.
Tangyu twitched his mouth. He was no stranger to being praised wherever he went; it was something he had grown accustomed to. What could he do if he was simply too excellent? Like a firefly in the dark night or a golden beetle in the fields, his superiority was already a thing of the past to him.
"Tangyu, do you realize the magnitude of the response this incident has provoked?" Minister Lu continued.
Shaking his head, Tangyu replied, "I truly don’t know. Has it already spread? I was only taken away early this morning; it’s only been a few hours. Surely it’s not that exaggerated? Wasn’t this matter supposed to be highly confidential?"
