Invincible Dad-Chapter 800 A statement _1
Inside the bracelet were twenty Holy Medicines, all of them rare treasures. This was a Tribute Ji Biyun had collected from the forces under the Ji Family’s jurisdiction, initially planning to offer it to her master upon his exit from seclusion.
She hadn’t expected them to be extorted from her before they even warmed her hands. But she swore that one day, she would make the Heavenly Court repay her a hundredfold for the Spirit Plants taken today!
"Let me count them."
Sikong Jiu finally hopped out of the palm of the golden Dharma Phase body, joyfully counting each plant one by one while holding the bracelet.
Ji Biyun truly feared he would claim there were only seventeen or fifteen Holy Medicines instead of twenty.
Fortunately, Sikong Jiu was a man who valued his reputation.
He stuffed the bracelet into his red bellyband and said with satisfaction, "Indeed, there are twenty. My injuries can finally be healed."
Ji Biyun quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
She bowed and said, "I wonder if Great Emperor Qingfeng is satisfied? If so, then this junior shall take her leave."
Ji Huanghun also felt a great weight lift from his shoulders, relieved to finally escape this battlefield of slaughter.
"Hold on!"
Sikong Jiu’s two words sent a jolt through both members of the Ji Family.
"Jiu Kongsi, I respect that you were once a Great Emperor, and I respect even more that you are an Emissary of the Heavenly Court. But to claim there are fewer Spirit Plants just after we’ve counted them is hardly appropriate, is it?" Ji Biyun narrowed her eyes.
Even a worm will turn, to say nothing of a Quasi-Emperor. If she were so easily bullied, she never would have been able to cultivate to the Third Heaven of the Quasi-Emperor Realm.
"Has your cultivation addled your brain, woman? When did I ever say there were fewer Spirit Plants?" Sikong Jiu bellowed. "Are you targeting me, or are you targeting the one who stands behind me—the handsome, dashing, and elegant Supreme Emperor revered by all in the Immortal Domain?"
"Do not slander me. If there’s no issue with the Spirit Plants, then why did you stop me?" Ji Biyun suppressed her anger. No one could bear having such a damning accusation pinned on them. All she wanted to ask now was—is there any justice left in this world? Is there any law? When did the moral fabric of the Cultivation World become so rotten? Can the Immortal Domain even be saved?!
Xu Lai hadn’t spoken a word since he appeared. Now, with his hands clasped behind his back, he finally opened his mouth. "Sikong Jiu, the karmic debt for the Ji Family’s Quasi-Emperor injuring you has been settled. Is there another problem?"
"A problem... yes, there is one." Sikong Jiu glanced at Ji Biyun, a smirk playing on his lips. "I just don’t know if the Ji Family’s Quasi-Emperor can bear the consequences."
For some reason, Ji Huanghun’s eyelids began to twitch furiously. A sense of foreboding, thicker than any tribulation cloud, washed over him.
The Ji Family’s Seventh Supreme Elder, Ji Biyun, didn’t reply rashly. Instead, she quietly began a divination with her fingers. Although the heavenly secrets were in chaos, Ji Biyun was certain she had no unresolved karmic ties. She said coldly, "If you can’t give me an explanation today, I will—"
Her voice cut off abruptly because Sikong Jiu had pointed at Ji Huanghun. "That Emperor Artifact embryo you snatched," he said. "Are you thinking of taking it back to the Ji Family instead of presenting it now?"
Ji Huanghun’s face turned ashen. Trembling, he took out the Formation Chessboard. "This isn’t yours. I took it from a cultivator."
He said ’a cultivator,’ pointedly omitting the words ’Human Race.’
Even so, his words struck Ji Biyun like a bolt of lightning.
She had considered every angle of her own karma, but she’d forgotten about the liability that was Ji Huanghun.
Ji Biyun forced a smile. "This... it was a misunderstanding on the part of my Ji Family’s junior. The item shall be returned to its rightful owner."
She assumed Jiu Kongsi had seen Ji Huanghun obtain a great treasure and, green with envy, was using this chance to extort them.
However, Sikong Jiu did not take the Formation Chessboard. He allowed it to float slowly past him and land in the hands of Xu Lai, who was standing nearby.
"What was her name?" Sikong Jiu demanded.
"I... I don’t remember," Ji Huanghun stammered, his legs trembling. He suddenly recalled the words of that female cultivator from the Human Race. Could she really be Great Emperor Qingfeng’s woman?
"Her name is Ruan Lan, and she is a relative of The Supreme Emperor," Sikong Jiu declared loudly. "Ruan Lan clearly invoked The Supreme Emperor’s name, yet you, Ji Huanghun, still tried to kill her for her treasure! What a fine Ji Family you are!"
THUD.
Ji Huanghun collapsed to the ground in fright. Ji Biyun trembled uncontrollably. They injured a relative of an Emperor Realm expert and stole their Emperor Artifact embryo... Thinking of the catastrophic consequences, Ji Biyun’s vision went black, and she nearly fainted. The saying that a Great Emperor’s fury could leave a million corpses in its wake was no mere exaggeration.
"Where is my daughter?" Xu Lai asked calmly.
This time, it was Sikong Jiu’s turn to be stunned. He hadn’t wanted to involve the Heavenly Court’s princess, as it would expose Xu Yiyi to extreme danger. But The Supreme Emperor had brought her up himself...
Sikong Jiu said in a somber voice, "Your Majesty, Princess Yiyi, at the Golden Core Realm, faced an opponent at the Divine Bridge Realm. She blocked the first spear thrust, but... she could not stop the second and was severely injured."
"Not bad," Xu Lai said.
It was unclear whether this "not bad" was praise for his daughter surviving an enemy three major realms above her or a commendation of Ji Huanghun’s actions.
"You also harmed a scion of the Emperor Realm?" Ji Biyun shot Ji Huanghun a look so sharp she wished it could flay him alive. This useless brat, how could he bring such a disaster upon the Ji Family!
"Elder, I... I didn’t know," Ji Huanghun cried, collapsed on the ground and shuddering. "Elder, save me... Save me!"
Ji Biyun struck out with her palm. The prodigy of the Ji Family’s seventh main lineage fell, not even a wisp of his soul remaining. His body was destroyed and his dao extinguished.
Her throat parched, Ji Biyun began, "The Supreme Emperor, about this matter..."
"Perhaps because the Era of Fallen Emperors is upon us, everyone knows the Immortal Domain is descending into chaos," Xu Lai’s gaze landed on her. "But of all the things you shouldn’t have done, you should not have touched my daughter. I want an explanation from the Ji Family."
An explanation... How could she dare give one on behalf of the entire Ji Family?
The great Holy Lands and Tao Lineages, even all the Great Emperors throughout history, had never forbidden rival powers from targeting their chosen geniuses or descendants. It was common for a prodigy to face adversity and challenge Immortals; which Immortal Venerable or Quasi-Emperor hadn’t crossed major realms to slay an enemy? They were well aware of the dangers of raising flowers in a greenhouse, so they encouraged their juniors to seek out experience in the perilous corners of the Immortal Domain and to clash with their peers. In a life-and-death battle between peers, if one was defeated, whether they were wounded or killed, it was a matter of skill. No one else was to blame. Even if it left a bitter taste, one could only seek private retribution later; at the very least, a public façade had to be maintained.
But everything had its rules. It was a near-universal consensus that the older generation could not interfere in the grudges of the younger generation. For example, a Divine Bridge Realm cultivator who was thousands of years old attacking a Golden Core cultivator who was not even ten years old and three major realms their junior—that was a flagrant violation of the rules. Such an act would be scorned by all the Holy Lands of the Immortal Domain. After all, if you could send a Divine Bridge to kill a Golden Core, couldn’t I send an Immortal Venerable to kill your Divine Bridge, or a Quasi-Emperor to kill your Celestial Venerable? Once the rules collapsed, the Immortal Domain would descend into utter chaos.
Moreover, this Golden Core cultivator’s father was Xu Qingfeng, the Lord of the Heavenly Court. If he wished it, the entire Ji Family, save for their Ancestor, would be exterminated. There would be no place left for the Ji Family in the entire Immortal Domain.
DRIP. DRIP. DRIP.
Beads of sweat rolled continuously down her cheeks.
Ji Biyun’s throat was parched. As a Quasi-Emperor, she hadn’t felt cold in many years, yet now it was as if a chilling wind was seeping into her very marrow.
Sikong Jiu quietly stepped back, afraid that Ji Biyun, in her desperation, might lash out—after all, she was a Quasi-Emperor and deserved some respect.
"It seems the Ji Family has no explanation to offer. In that case, I will get one myself."
