Invincible Dad-Chapter 619 Is this Uncle Xu’s?_1
Seeing the change in his sister’s expression, Ruan Lan froze. "Sis, no way. Are you actually pregnant?"
The Dragon Spirit child and the conch girl both popped their heads out, looking shocked.
Only Xu Lai was the picture of calm. As someone in the Emperor Realm, having one child was already more than enough for him; he had never even considered a second. Although he often joked with Ruan Tang about giving Yiyi a little brother or sister, Xu Lai knew deep down that it was impossible.
"Let me see." Xu Yiyi trotted over and pressed her ear against Ruan Tang’s belly. "Hello in there, little sister, can you hear me?"
"It might be a little brother," Ruan Lan corrected.
Xu Yiyi muttered, "But I’d prefer a little sister."
"..."
Ruan Tang put a hand to her forehead. "Can you two stop seriously debating the gender, as if I’m actually pregnant?"
"Go to the hospital for a check-up!" the conch girl, Beibei, called out.
Ruan Lan glanced at Beibei. "With me here, who needs a hospital?"
"The sun has set and the wind has stopped. You think that makes you a doctor?" Xu Lai said bluntly. "Just rest that quack medicine of yours."
"You rotten brother-in-law, I’ll show you what real medical skill looks like!"
Ruan Lan reached out, took hold of Ruan Tang’s wrist, and said in a professional-looking manner, "This is called taking the pulse. Let me ask you, is this professional or what?"
"Very," Xu Lai said with a sincere thumbs-up.
For some reason, Ruan Lan had the nagging feeling her brother-in-law was mocking her... She let out a cold snort.
Completely clueless about Chinese medicine, Ruan Lan secretly sent out a strand of her Divine Sense to examine her sister.
The next second, her body began to tremble slightly. Her breathing grew rapid and she blinked hard, as if she couldn’t believe it. She sent out another strand of Divine Sense to check again, more carefully this time. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
After five full minutes of this fussing, Ruan Tang, who had been calm until now, was starting to get nervous from her sister’s antics. "Well, what is it?"
Beibei and Xu Yiyi watched with bated breath.
Ruan Lan said gravely, "Sis, according to my examination, it seems... you’ve..."
Ruan Tang held her breath, staring intently at Ruan Lan, waiting for the answer to be revealed.
Ruan Lan paused for a full thirty seconds before finally speaking. "You’ve gotten fat."
"???"
Ruan Tang was completely baffled. "Huh?"
"You’ve gained a pound."
Ruan Lan reached out and patted her sister’s still-flat abdomen, then turned to Xu Lai. "Mm, feels great. You’re a lucky man, brother-in-law!"
"..."
Ruan Tang’s face darkened. She gave Ruan Lan a sharp rap on the head, making her sister’s eyes well up with tears. "Sis, I was wrong! Stop hitting me!"
"So is she pregnant or not?" the conch girl, with a shell on her back and a sword in her hand, asked with a strange expression. "You can’t joke about something like this."
"Definitely not," Ruan Lan declared confidently. "My Divine Sense found nothing. Nothing can escape my sharp eyes."
"..."
Xu Lai was speechless. Sharp eyes? Hasn’t she been hit enough?
"Xu Lai, you check for me," Ruan Tang said, her head aching. In this huge family, Xu Lai was the only one she could trust. Everyone else was completely unreliable.
"Alright," Xu Lai agreed, though he was fairly certain it was all just a big mix-up.
He casually sent a strand of Divine Sense into Ruan Tang’s body and was momentarily taken aback. Then he frowned, sending out dozens more strands, sensing gently and carefully.
Another five long minutes passed.
Just as Ruan Tang was beginning to worry she had some terminal illness, Xu Lai announced in shock, "Honey, you’re pregnant!"
"Oh," Ruan Tang pouted. She didn’t believe him; it couldn’t be such a coincidence.
"Daddy, is it true?" Xu Yiyi, on the other hand, blinked her large, clear eyes and looked happily at Xu Lai.
"It’s true." Xu Lai couldn’t hide the ecstasy on his face. "You’re going to have a little sister."
"Wow, a real little sister!" Xu Yiyi’s eyes shone even brighter.
"It could also be a little brother."
"...Huh?"
"To be honest," Xu Lai said, practically beaming, "I can’t tell if the little life is a boy or a girl. It’ll probably take a while longer before we can be sure."
"Mmm," Yiyi chirped excitedly. "Whether it’s a little brother or a little sister, I’ll love them either way."
Oh, my sweet daughter. You just said you’d prefer a sister.
As Ruan Tang was thinking this, the little girl hugged her leg and said happily, "Mommy, I’m so happy! Are you happy?"
Ruan Tang’s expression darkened; she wasn’t particularly happy. She glared at Xu Lai. "It’s bad enough that Ruan Lan is fooling around, but you’re joining in too?"
"I’m really not lying to you!" Xu Lai roared to the heavens. "I, Xu Lai, am going to be a father again! And honey, you’re going to be a mother again! Hahahahahaha!"
His voice was so loud it sent the teacups on the backyard table flying, and the tea splashed directly onto Ruan Tang.
"Xu Lai, what are you doing? You got me all wet," Ruan Tang grumbled in annoyance, looking down at her soaked clothes.
"Listen to those suggestive words," Ruan Lan muttered. "Married women are really on another level."
Then she got hit again.
Ruan Lan now had two large bumps on her head. Dragon Spirit Xiao Hai stared at her in shock. Is The Supreme Emperor’s sister-in-law also a dragon? With those prominent horns, she must be an elite of the Dragon Race!
Ruan Lan clutched the bumps on her head and shot a resentful look at Xu Lai. "You stupid brother-in-law, this is all your fault."
"You’re going to be an aunt again!" Xu Lai said with a goofy grin as he furiously ruffled Ruan Lan’s hair, messing it up completely.
"..."
Ruan Lan stood frozen like a statue. Facing Xu Lai’s roughhousing, she didn’t dare to move a muscle. "We’re doomed, sis," she said weakly. "I think my brother-in-law has snapped. His mental state isn’t normal."
"Xu Lai, you—"
Ruan Tang was dumbfounded. Just as she was about to ask, the man planted a fierce kiss on her cheek.
"Honey, you’re amazing! We’re having a second child! What should we name them? How about Xu Feifei? No... not imposing enough."
Xu Lai continued to mutter names, shaking his head one moment and nodding the next, letting out the occasional creepy, foolish giggle.
"So noisy." Qian Xiao came downstairs rubbing his eyes, still groggy. "What’s going on?" he asked, confused.
"Qian Xiao, my mommy is pregnant again!" Xu Yiyi announced joyfully.
"Is it Uncle Xu’s?" Qian Xiao asked instinctively.
Xu Lai: ???
Ruan Tang: ???
Immediately, Qian Xiao, whose five senses were exceptionally sharp, felt two gazes so murderous they were almost tangible land on him. He instantly shivered, sobering up completely.
"Let’s use the process of elimination," Qian Xiao said cautiously. "It’s definitely not mine..."
Ruan Tang was so exasperated she had to laugh.
Xu Lai laughed along with her.
Qian Xiao didn’t dare to laugh. He knew he’d messed up again. His face fell as he said pitifully, "I know the drill. Let’s go, Beibei. Just one thing... can we please not hit the face today?"
With practiced ease, Beibei leaped onto Qian Xiao’s shoulder. She looked at Xu Lai with a complex expression and asked, "Should I take him away for Cultivation, then?"
"No need." Xu Lai waved his hand magnanimously, chuckling. "I’m in a good mood today."
"So you’re not going to hit me?" Qian Xiao asked, overjoyed, as if he’d just seen the dawn after a long disaster.
"We’ll save it for tomorrow. And double it."
"..."
The smile on Qian Xiao’s face froze. But what drove him deeper into despair was the sound of another voice.
