Chapter 121 - With the work!

I stood in silence after giving Viree her stuff. I felt both distant, awkward and sweaty. I didn't like the feeling, even though I wanted to express my feelings. I sighed and lifted up my new ring. When I made the ring for Viree I actually managed to make two. I rolled in my palm and placed it on my finger.

I looked at the forge and cracked my fingers. "Let's get to work."

I sorted through my inventory and summoned several items. "I should start with the tools."

I picked up the The Ever-filling Chalice and The Frostbreak Chalice. Looking at the two similar artifacts I had the idea to combine them. The question was how? The Ever-Filling Chalice was an ornate gold Chalice that always refilled and made whoever drank from it desire more. It was ultimately cursed. It would be easy to break the curse as a similar item existed in skyrim. The White Phial worked similarly to both Chalices.

I dropped the Ever-filling Chalice into the water of the forge. I took out a bottle I obtained from Enthir. I poured some of the Holy water into the pool. The water slowly turned black from the curse being washed away from the Chalice. It really was just that easy. It made me more disappointed in the Psijic order than I already was.

To fix the Ever-Filling Chalice all you had to do was expose it to holy power. Telling that emptying the chalice required one to soak the chalice. You could empty the Chalice and remove the curse by simply soaking it in Holy Water. The black water slowly filtered out of the pool through the pipes, meaning I was onto the next step.

Picking the Chalice back up I looked at it. Sure enough the enchantment on it was now able to be inspected. The soaking had worked, as easy as that. I picked up the Frostbreak chalice up as well and walked over to the Dwemer Enchanting table.

I picked up two of the blank enchanting plates and proceeded to disenchant the similar artifacts. Once done I looked at the two new enchantment plates. Originally I had planned to disenchant them the old fashion way. Looking at my enchanting skill level up, I had to say this method was faster.

I walked back over to the forge and quickly created a bottle from Purple Glass. I paused and decided on a name for the new material. With a name decided I created 10 bottles from the Myriad Glass. They were a little wonky in shape, but they all could hold liquid. I walked over to the enchanting table and plugged in the enchanting plates.

When I was finally done with the bottles I inspected them. "Ever-Filling Vial of Rejuvenating Spring."

I nodded and took out the rest of the dragon's blood and poor the liquid into one of the vials. I tipped the bottle over and began to pour out a consistent never ending stream of dragon's blood. I paused and dipped the bottle into the forge pool. The blood pooled in the water, but the stream the bottle created never ended.

I took the vial out of the water and stuffed it into the inventory. "It seems I have accidentally created a bottle of never-ending dragon blood." To empty the bottle I would need to dip it into a pool of dragon's blood rather than water.

I looked at my other bottles still left on the enchanting table. I sighed and picked another up and filled it with the Holy water and Wolf's bane tranquilizer. The two bottles were now infinite wells of the liquids. With the two new bottles, I collected the rest and stuffed them all into my inventory.

I turned back at my collective of items. The Chest of Condemnation was an item I could try out. I had a decent idea of what was inside, as in one of the previous games someone had opened it. I just didn't remember... Perhaps the skeleton key? With that thought I stuffed the chest back into my inventory and turned to the next item.

Umbra was not as powerful as it was, but it was still held considerable power. It also no longer tried to whisper in people's ears and take over their bodies. Which made it a relatively normal, but still evil sword. I sighed, I couldn't really do anything with Umbra either so i put it away. This left me with the remaining items.

I picked up the Inescapable helm and began to inspect it. The helm wasn't enchanted, in fact it wasn't even cursed. This meant the special qualities came from the material. So I casted the spells Composition Check, Temporal Judgement, Form Solidity Judgement on the helm. I frowned and casted them again.

"Huh." My surprise came out a little involuntarily, but it was right on the mark. I paused and picked up the seemingly normal helm. I took out the Shadowcutter blade and stabbed it into the shadow of the helm. The helm twitched in my hands and let out a ear-piecing scream. I threw the helmet and it bounced of the far wall and i stuffed the Shadowcutter blade into my inventory before i accidentally hurt myself with it.

Viree busted through the door with her new hammer in hand. "What was that! Are you hurt? Vek?"

I pointed at the helmet, "A fucking mimic! I didn't think they fucking existed! The helmet is Inescapable because its a god damn living creature."

She clearly had no idea what I was saying, but her eyes flicked to the helmet trying to crawl into a dark corner. "What the fuck is that thing."

I shook my head and moved toward the creature. I grabbed its shell and prevented it from running. "A mimic, no actually, it is called a realm scuttler. The main body of the creature remains almost completely ethereal."

Viree stared at the ghostly crab that twitched inside the helmet looking shell. "Is that all you know about it?"

I shrugged, "I read off the item description. It counts as a wearable helmet."

She frowned, "So what is it some sort of spiritual parasite that mimics a helmet?"

I shook my head, "No, I think the fact it looks like a helmet is an unfortunate coincidence. The name gives it away, the creature likely feeds on something in oblivion. It only woke up because I stabbed it with something that can harm spirits."

She looked at it and back to me, "You are going to keep it as a pet aren't you."

Updated from freewёbnoνel.com.

I nodded, "Not a terrible idea, but the problem is I got this little bastard of the psijic order. I have no doubt in my mind they had no idea it was a realm scuttler. Yet again the thing likely feeds off of something in the realms of oblivion. Anyway, I'm good Viree."

She nodded and looked at the crab again. "It is a little ugly, but also cute. You should name it."

I looked at the creature and remembered a long dead memory. "I'll name him Simon."

Viree raised an eyebrow at me again, "Simon?"

I nodded, "Name of a pet I once had."

She nodded and yawned, "I tried on the armor and all that. I was about to go to bed though, so good night."

I waved and returned to my new problem. Simon the little bastard, was a complete surprise. Originally I wanted to see if I could replicate the Inescapable helm and use it as a slave collar of sorts. A punishment for those who go against my contracts perhaps? The plan wasn't entirely clear, but the idea existed.

With the discovery that Simon was a living creature that existed almost entirely spiritual form. It made me confused on how to handle him? her? It? What gender does a realm scuttler even have? It is clearly some sort of creature of Oblivion though.

I needed to create a backpack for it. With the thing now awake I couldn't shove it back into my inventory. I couldn't jus- Why couldn't I just set it down? If it fed on something in Oblivion, but stayed here on nirn. It meant the Simon couldn't return to Oblivion naturally.

I placed the hermit crab onto the ground and watched it scuttle into the darkest corner it could find. When it did I fired a magelight and pushed it toward Simon. The creature whimpered and scuttled away from the light. So Simon was scared of the light? My eyes widened though as I watched the crab reach up grab the ball of light and slither underneath it perfectly. "Simon isn't scared of the light, its scared of its shadow!"

The shadowcutter blade woke it up! So of course the creature was scared of the shadow it projected! Simon was smart, I really would need to study the thing. I left the scuttler to hide beneath the magelight. It would eventually move to hide its shadow again. For now I could return to the forge.

I looked at my varying items and I decided to work on my next weapon. Sable Wave was amazing, but it lacked one thing. The ability to level up my two-handed skill tree. So I came up with a plan to forge a blade of similar nature of of Sable Wave.

Though Sable Wave was made of some luck, this next sword would be created with exact purpose. The first ingredient was the bipolar blade though it needed to be split in half first. With some effort I seperated the two halves. Once split I pulled out the base material for my new sword. Chrysamere the perfect ingredient for my plan. The moment I acquired the quest I had planned to use this sword as an ingredient.

Chrysamere was the Excalibur of Nirn and I had dubious plans for the weapon. I got to work fixing the forge with alchemic ingredients as well as heating Chrysamere to the required temperature. Once heated I began to magically alter the sword. With Chrysamere heated and the sword ready to be molded. I took the two halves of the Bipolar blade and began to get to work. Each blade was made of steel and made it easy to fuse together.

Eventually the blade was turned into the shape of a tight x formation. The sword sadly wasn't done, I began scraping away layers of steel from the center of the blade. A long length of metal was removed form the center of the x without compromising the shape. With this step done I left the sword to cool in the forge pool.

Now was the harder part, I took out several ebony ingots and dragon bone. I crushed the bone slowly and began to melt the ebony ingots. Once the ingots grew into a molten liquid I poured the dragon bone into the liquid. I kept the liquid heated and moved to the next step.

I took out Bolar's Oathblade, the sword had long since lost its value. However its history would work for its new purpose. For a legendary weapon it needed a certain level of quality. This could come from skill, power, or historical value. I shattered the oathblade and removed the hilt from the blade. I poured the shards from the blade into the molten ebony.

I swirled the liquid and nodded. I took out a single ingot of Malachite and added it the alloy. The liquid mixed, but I had to leave it to stay heated. Returning to the changed Chrysamere, I began to reheat the blade. The temperature needed this time was much lower, but it needed to be hot for the next step.

Soon I was able to pour the molten Ebony Alloy into the shaved length. As the sword reshaped from the new metal I slowly cooled the blade. I took out the Never-ending Holy water and poured it into the forge pool. I dipped the sword into the water and cooled the new metal. I began to shave off the changed swords old hilt and kept the blade heated.

Once the hilt was shaved I began to extend the Ebony alloy into a ricasso for the sword. I shaved the edges to be sharpened points. Once the Ricasso was fully formed I left the sword to stay on a low heat. I picked up the old hilt of the Oathblade.

Once I was done inspecting it I grabbed more dragon bone. This bone came directly from lower vertebrae of the dragon. I got to work shaving the dragon bone to the appropriate shape. Once it was in the proper shape I grabbed an ebony and a malachite ingot and melted them down. I poured and molded the alloy over the dragon bone hilt.

With a few more actions to do, I started to fuse the new hilt to the blade. Once this was done I began shaving away at certain parts. Sharpening the blade in other parts. While heating, molding, and cooling the blade. Finally the blade was done, but it had description yet. The sword itself had yet to be completed. I collected a rounded opal from the storage room. Using some more Malachite I created a Pommel for the sword.

Once the Pommel was in place I pulled out some of the dragon scales. This was the second to last step for the sword. I took out more holy water, dragon's blood, Void Salts and Sload Soap and mixed them into the forges pool once more. With this done I began to wash, polish, and sand down the scales. Until I finally was able to wrap the hilt of the sword in soft rounded dragon scales.

Now for the final step, this was perhaps the hardest. I picked out a single ingot from the piles of junk I had created. To call it an ingot was a stretch though, it was half the size of a normal ingot. It was Tyranite Calx, the remaining amount I was able to make. I had debated about using it to create a third ring for Viree. However I knew I would need to for this project.

I melted the remaining metal down and slowly, very, very, slowly, coated the very top of each blade edge with the Tyranite Calx. Once I was done I sharpened the sword until the metal was perfectly straight against the metal. Once this was done below the Tyranite Calx I slowly created notches in the steel to create a very fine toothed serrated edge.

When the last notch was made I felt the shift in the sword. As if some unknown acknowledgement occurred. I lifted the new sword and looked at the name. "Paradossu, the blade of contradiction."

I smiled at the sword and held it in both hands. I swung the blade and the sword shattered the air. I inspected the description once more.

The sword was a wicked blade. It didn't scale effects like Sable Wave did. However the sword would never fail me. With Sable Wave and Paradossu I could level one-handed and two-handed with no problems. I was still left with many things to craft though. I suppose it was finally time to create my own crowssbow.
