When they finally went to a clearing with a lot of slimes, the mantis took care of all of them except one who kept trying to grab the mantis with all its might.

Theo commanded the mantis to not do anything to this one. The mantis only looked at Theo with unknown emotions before it started backing off into the tall grass proficiently.

When the slime reached there, the mantis wasn't in the grass anymore. The camouflage was so good that even Theo couldn't see it.

Yet a single look at the place Lucien was staring at made him know the mantis was already coming back toward him.

Theo took a deep breath and took the dagger from Clara again.

He went into the most perfect stance he could muster and, with a little aim toward the confused slime, Theo threw it.

Unexpectedly, Theo did good under pressure, and the dagger hit directly at the slimy body of the beast.

Yet, it was only stuck for a few seconds before it started moving down on the ground from the dense liquid.

Theo frowned. He had used all the power he had to hit the slime, yet it was not enough to hit the core.

"You need more muscle training…" Lucien said from the back, and Theo nodded reluctantly.

No matter how good the form was, if he didn't have the required amount of strength in his hands, it was all for nothing.

After Lucien stepped on yet another slime that burst on impact, he gave the slimy dagger back to Theo.

After taking the intact cores of the defeated slimes, Theo placed them inside the box of the mantis for some evening snacks.

It was time to go back to the castle and start with the more important task: to allot the free points.

The way back toward the carriage and then the castle was informative, to say the least. Lucien kept on explaining things to Theo so as to make him progress faster but also to keep his foundation stable.

Theo was quite happy and satisfied with the way Lucien had started to take care of his growth, just like a big brother should. Coming from wealth on Earth, no sibling ever cared for each other in his experience.

Yet in this current family of his, even though some rivalry was always there, the care for each other was at the same level too.

They all reached the castle soon enough. The castle was as silent as it used to be. Just the type of atmosphere Theo liked the best.

"By the way, Theo," Lucien grabbed his attention while stretching, "Mother will be home a few days later. I am curious as to what she will think about your sudden intense training." He said while snickering.

Theo thought of the same thing and just shrugged it away. It was easier to tell them about this than his previous tough decisions.

"Is father coming too?"

"Hmm… that might take some time. Wars tend to prolong a lot."

Theo nodded, and with Clara in tow, they went back inside the castle where Theo went to his room to freshen up.

They already had a plan to meet later to allocate points.

After eating and freshening up, it was already time to meet up with Lucien. Theo placed the mantis back in the box before leaving.

When they were on their way to Lucien's room, Theo saw Clara's frowning face.

"What's wrong, Clara?" Theo asked with concern. Clara had a concerning frown on her face.

"… I don't want to be rude, young master… But don't you think Master Lucien is helping a lot more than usual?" Clara asked, the concern still present on her face.

Theo looked at her with calm and then toward the way ahead.

"To be honest, this was on my mind for a long time too," he stated and continued with a sigh, "But I quickly came to a conclusion, Clara. It was that… big brother Lucien may be thinking that I can help him later in the future."

Clara looked at him with curiosity. Her lips opened to say something, yet something stopped her.

Theo only smiled, "You know you can speak your heart with me, Clara."

When Theo said that, Clara was surprised for a second before she chuckled awkwardly.

"I… I was just thinking what you can give Master Lucien, young master," she said hesitantly, making Theo giggle.

"You were scared asking that?" Theo chuckled and gave her an answer, "I told him and elder sister that someday, I might be able to evolve their beasts too... So if I ever reach that point in the future, they would need to have some favors stacked on me so that I do it for them, Clara."

Clara stopped for a second before she started moving again. There was a surprised yet understanding look on her face now.

"But this is just a theory. I am still wondering the same thing as you. And this meeting with him will make things much clearer for the future."

"The free point allocation?" Clara caught on right away and asked.

"Hahaha, yeah. With you there, you will know what is the right decision and what is not. I have also read a lot of things about it in the library."

Clara nodded in satisfaction. Now that she knew there was a plan while going forward and it was not just Theo being gullible due to his young age.

They reached the gate of the room soon enough and were greeted inside by the attendant, Cassian.

"Please, have a seat. I will prepare some tea for you," he spoke in a regal way and gave a small bow.

"Thank you," Theo went straight ahead toward the same place they sat before. Lucien was already seated and looked at Theo with a grin.

Clara left to help the attendant prepare the tea, and Theo finally sat on the chair.

"Thank you for helping me this much, elder brother."

"Oh, it's no trouble. If you didn't show such a craving for power when we met here the last time, I wouldn't be helping you right now, Theo."

Theo only nodded with a chuckle, and they both waited for the tea to come before it finally started.

"Tell me what stats you and the mantis have," Lucien spoke before he shook his head and gave him a piece of paper and a metallic fountain pen.

"Just write the stats down on this paper."

Theo nodded and started writing everything down. He had already committed to getting his help, so showing the stats was only natural.

______________

Strength- 13

Stamina- 8

Agility- 7

Vitality- 23

Intelligence- 33

Dexterity- 13

_________

Theo wrote everything down about himself and gave the sheet of paper to Lucien, who observed them closely.

"You have 9 points to allocate, right?"

"Yes."

"Your stats are quite interesting. You've got a good amount of intelligence and decent vitality, but your physical stats are lagging behind. If you want to be more than just a strategist, you'll need to improve your endurance and mobility." He explained and continued.

"While you threw the dagger toward the slime, I noticed something," he pointed out, "From what I have seen so far, your form was good, yet that attack had little strength... Now, how these stats work is that there are two ways to improve them."

When Lucien spoke of two ways, Theo frowned. Why were there things that he still didn't know after reading so much?

"The first is the simpler way, it is to allocate these free points and increase the points in individual areas with our own wish. As for the second way, it is different. Aside from the free points, you can also get stat points by working hard on a specific stat."

"You mean train individual stats?" Theo asked in surprise and curiosity.

"Yes, you will see it after a little over a month's training with me. Your stamina and strength stat will increase by 1 point because they are so low."

"… That makes sense," Theo nodded and looked toward his tea. His gaze went on Clara, who only nodded with her eyes once.

Lucien saw that interaction and smiled, yet he didn't include it in this conversation.

"Wait…" A sudden realization came to him, and he asked, "If this is true... why didn't I get points in intelligence when I read and learned so much in the library, elder brother?" he asked in confusion.

Lucien grinned, "Good catch, little brother. The answer is quite simple." he stated while scratching is cheek, "Your intelligence stat is already above average, so just learning and reading basic things that you can understand at once won't do anything to it. People like you who have high intelligence from the start are only able to increase it through free points, level up, and by joining the academy that has very complex knowledge on almost everything."

He stopped and looked at Theo as if to wait and see if he understood it.

'I didn't think of it that way…' Theo inwardly sighed and nodded again. Here, he was ready to add things to the explanation, thinking he knew a lot, yet like usual, Theo was humbled very quickly.

"That makes me come to the strength and stamina stat again, Theo."
