Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 398 - An envoy and a moneygrubber
Chapter 398: Chapter 398 - An envoy and a moneygrubber
After cleaning up and teleporting my new prisoners inside the pit in Ersha, I took my time to check on the whole bandit den which was inside a cave that they found near the lake. My target was their treasure pile since keeping one is one thing they do that is very similar with a dragon’s behavior.
Most bandits are actually very rich since they have the knowledge on how to identify wealthy targets as well as thinking of the best ways to ambush them successfully. Sure enough, in one of the inner rooms inside the cave, I saw a huge pile of valuables and sparkly items. Well, finders keepers, right?
I separated the artworks, ceramics and intact jewelry on one side and then took all the money. gold and loose gemstones all for myself. I am planning to have the valuable items up for auction courtesy of the government after announcing the fall of this bandit group. It will be posted as a fundraiser to support the far flung and poorer towns and villages in the Athanoviya empire. Xenos will surely be the perfect guy to take care of this.
I sent a message to Xenos and I can feel his excitement as he asked for more information as to how to go about the selling of the items. As the auctioneer, I told him that he will get a 5% commission for every item sold and the money will be for his household, of course. Xenos shares the same amount of love for money as I do so I know he will be perfect for this role.
I gave him further instructions to have the items appraised by a credible appraiser and be priced appropriately as soon as possible. He said that he will make sure to get it done the soonest. I started sending over the valuable items to our shared storage so he can start on his tasks.
The bandit group turned out to be quite popular and are known to terrorize the roads leading to the northern parts of the empire. All members have a bounty on their heads in varying amounts with the leader (that old woman I slapped) having the highest one. Since I caught 51 members, their bounties will automatically go to me, of course.
I also contacted Helios to work on publishing news about the fall of the bandit group which turns out to be called "Bloodflower Group" as per Yren. I gave instructions to have it seem like it was Aurum’s idea to track down and destroy this bandit group for the safety of the people. I told Helios that I will just give Aurum’s household a part of the bounty in return since I used him as a front for my bounty hunting activities.
To be fair, I also gave Calyx his tasks. Being a butler and financial handler for Aurum’s household, he is the best man to manage the money we will be getting for this escapade of mine. I gave him tasks in claiming the bounty and gave clear instructions as to how much each person will get. I decided to give rewards to all five of them since they were handling all the logistics for me.
Yren, not wanting to be outdone by the others, sent me a list of other bandit groups existing in Athanoviya. He also included information such as the areas they were known to operate in as well as how much bounty was placed on each member’s heads. He also promised to be on standby to send people to fetch our money bags back to the capital.
After dealing with all those extra stuff, I started working on clearing up a path from the lake, through the forest and straight to the east gate of Ersha. This is one of the requests of the people so that it can make their hunting and harvesting tasks a bit safer. For good measure, I mapped the whole area in the dead of night like a weirdo. I also checked the water quality of the lake just in case the bandits did something with it. I even placed a huge ass purification rune at the bottom of the lake for good measure.
The tasks took a couple of hours and I was only able to stealthily go back to my wagon in the wee hours of the morning. I still teleported to my room at the inn to hug my cute and grumpy pillow to sleep.
I waited for the sun to rise as I woke up Claude gently to tell him that I am leaving. I also admitted to him that I may be moving to the next village after Ersha within today or early the next morning. I explained that as I get farther from Bragen City, it will be harder for me to teleport so my visits may be less frequent. He stared at me for a few seconds but still nodded in understanding as he gave me a gentle kiss on the lips and a hug.
Oh my... Is my luck starting to get better? Am I starting to meet less dramatic men whom I can add into my family? The prospects might be getting better in the days to come.
I teleported back to Ersha and went out of my wagon, acting like I just woke up from a very comfortable sleep. Well, I did have a comfortable sleep but surely not inside the wagon. The first thing I did was go to the community kitchen to start the breakfast preparation. As a certified foodie, this comes first before everything else.
I started the meal prep and as minutes tick by, some of the residents have also started to wake up and come out of their houses to help. With more working hands, the work became faster and we are all finally able to eat at around 7am. After the meal, I asked the last two guards from the capital to assist me in packing up the last batch of bandits.
The guards looked at me in surprise which is something I can’t blame them with. I did keep it a secret that I will be making my move at the dead of night. We hurriedly packed the still knocked out people to the last carriage and within less than an hour, the carriage is already on its way to the capital.
