Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!-Chapter 385 - The City of Bragen (Part 2)
Chapter 385: Chapter 385 - The City of Bragen (Part 2)
Since everything is in place, I thanked all the workers who came with me again and bid my goodbyes. I told them that it is finally time to explore what this city has to offer as a regular tourist this time. They all laughed and gave me recommendations of the best places to visit in the area so I can make most of my time here in Bragen.
The city of Bragen is a medium sized city and is way smaller than Hoffen. Based on my meeting with the count and countess, most of the income of this city comes from wood and metal handicrafts that people make. The city is surrounded by lush forests full of good quality trees, some small and medium sized animals and a few mines that provide iron and copper ores.
The main professions here are that of woodcutters, wood sculptors, carpenters, miners, metalsmiths, hunters and farmers. The products produced by the craftsmen are then sold to other territories or bartered with items that are not available in Bragen. All the food produced by hunters and farmers are kept within the territory for consumption.
Since I am still full from the meal earlier, not that I still have a strong want for human food, I decided to go around shops first to look at their available wares for sale. I plan to buy a few items as samples that can be sold at Starlight. If customers liked them, I can think of something more long term by then.
It is currently in the middle of the afternoon and the marketplace is slow and quiet due to the heat. I took advantage of this slow time to make my shopping spree since I am really not a fan of crowded places that much.
I started at the shop full of wooden items. I saw some nicely made items for eating, particularly, forks, spoons, knives, teaspoons, cooking spoons and ladles, glasses, cups, plates, saucers and bowls. I immediately bought 6 sets (1 of each item above) much to the surprise of the stall owner. I asked the stall owner what other places sell wood items and he happily pointed me to the right direction.
Afterwards, I went to another shop that sells wood but this time, it was wood for construction. I also bought logs and planks as construction materials from the said place. As to what I am planning to build, there is nothing in particular as of the moment. I just want to have everything I can possibly need in storage.
My last stop were the metalsmith shop where I bought different types of knives for butchering or hunting as well as chopping knives for the kitchen. They also sell some pots and pans which I liked so I bought some of those too. I also bought a dozen of different types of great quality swords as well.
From the time of my first purchase, I already noticed three people following my every move. I did receive a temporary identity bracelet from Bragen and I used it every time I purchased something. I have been using money like I will never run out of it so it is bound to get the attention of others.
I continued shopping from one shop to another, buying souvenirs, household items and even beautiful bolts of cloth to be sewn for later. I did not buy any food items since I know that it is for local consumption. I plan to hunt some wild animals and sell it in this city instead to help with the food security measures. I also plan to put blessings on their fields to increase harvest yields.
After my shopping spree, I decided to go to the pub that the workers have highly recommended to me earlier. As I went in, many eyes landed on me. This is a closely knit city and people work in very few industries which means people tend to know everybody. I am definitely a face they have never seen before.
I sat at a fairly hidden corner inside the pub. One of the pub attendants immediately approached me and gave me a list of dishes they serve. I had a bit of small talk with the attendant by mentioning names of workers under the count’s mansion and that they recommended this place for me. He smiled and instantly pointed out their best sellers which made ordering food much easier.
I ordered their creamy vegetable stew, freshly baked bread, some grilled meat and a cup of cold fruit tea. Sadly, they don’t serve desserts. Overall, the food was filling and satisfying and in terms of taste, bluntly speaking, it seemed to be better than the ones I had at the count’s mansion.
When it was time to pay, I gave a generous tip to the pub attendant which made his eyes widen in surprise. His face turned red for some reason and he looked down. To clear up any misunderstanding, I asked where is the most popular place to go during evenings after work.
With an almost inaudible voice, he said, it was the pleasure district at Qadreja. He even told me that I can get anything I wanted from there as long as I can pay the price. He then whispered that he works part-time at one of the brothels there named Bloom. He then hurriedly turned around and went back to the attendants’ area.
I could only smile helplessly and scratch my head. Did he actually think that I was interested in him because I talked with him a bit more and I gave him a generous tip?
Well, since he recommended it as a very popular place in the evenings, I might as well look on to what it has in store for its visitors. As for money, it is something I do not have shortage of so I think I will be fine in that matter as well. Too bad for that cute attendant, I do not have any intention to go there sporting the face I used for my official work so I don’t think he would even know I dropped by at his workplace unless I told him so.
