Infinity Is My Affinity?!?-Chapter 130: By the Law That Is My Power...
The heavy silence of the library corner was suddenly violently polluted.
Before Peko could even turn the second page of the Kamo family history, a cloying, overpowering scent of excessively expensive and obnoxiously applied cologne washed over her table.
Peko didn’t even look up, just sighed.
This was the fourth consecutive day this particular nuisance had decided to grace her with his presence.
"Researching your future masters, are we?" A grating, inherently smug voice broke the sacred quiet of her sanctuary.
Jin Kamo, the third son of the monopolistic pharmaceutical empire, aggressively invaded her personal space.
The young Beastkin noble pulled out the wooden chair directly beside hers, scraping it loudly against the floorboards before dropping his weight into it.
His golden jackal ears twitched arrogantly atop his head while his wiry, gold-ringed tail draped lazily over the backrest.
Standing exactly one pace behind him, radiating the suffocating aura of a Tier 6 expert, was his hulking, heavily scarred bodyguard.
"I must admit, your dedication to playing hard to get is starting to wear incredibly thin," Jin sighed, casually kicking his expensive leather boots up onto the corner of her table.
Peko kept her eyes locked on the velvet-bound ledger, tracing a line of text with her finger as if he were nothing more than empty air.
Seeing her ignore him, a visible vein throbbed near Jin’s temple.
He leaned in close, bringing his face mere inches from her shoulder while his gaze crawled over her crisp white robes, blatantly undressing her with a lingering, perverted gaze as he openly took in the curves hidden beneath the fabric.
"You do realize what I am offering you, don’t you?" Jin pressed, his voice dropping into a conspiratorial whisper that made the air she breathed feel instantly dirty. "I am offering you the honor of becoming my concubine. It truly is a tragedy that you were born a peasant. If you had even a single drop of noble blood, I would have even made you my first wife."
Peko calmly reached out and turned the page.
"Thousands of women in this city would die to be in your place," Jin continued, his gaze dropping to her chest. "With a face and body like yours, I promise you will be my absolute favorite. I will dress you in the finest silks, drape you in whatever you want to be draped in. All you have to do is show me what those curves look like without those pesky robes... while I pin you right beneath me."
Around them, several library patrons hastily picked up their belongings and scattered, terrified of drawing the young master’s attention.
After all, Jin Kamo was a direct scion of the noble house she was literally just reading about, a family known for immense wealth and absolute, unhinged ruthlessness. No one in the entire building dared to stop him.
"Just imagine the night... You rid of those robes in the bed beneath me, gasping and trembling in pleasure while I pound you mercilessly... I can make that happen, you know? I give you both pleasure and riches, both beyond your comprehension. Oh... what I wouldn’t give to see the face you’d make..."
When Peko simply continued reading, treating him like air, the freezing indifference finally cracked Jin’s fragile ego.
His faux-charming facade instantly dropped. He reached out and violently slammed his hand flat against the open pages of her book, pinning it down to force her to look at him.
"Don’t you dare ignore me!" Jin snarled, his breath hot and reeking of wine as he leaned entirely into her space. "You should be on your knees weeping with gratitude with your mouth around my loins, you peasant whore! A piece of arrogant street trash! You’re nothing but the older sister to a lucky upstart riding on the coattails of a dumb beast!"
Peko stared at his hand pinning the book and crumpling the pages as she actively suppressed the pride and the fury that was this close to burning half the city to cinders.
But fate had other plans.
"Dragon or not, I could crush your brother with a single word to my father," Jin spat loudly, ensuring the terrified bystanders hiding in the aisles heard every degrading word. "But you... you I want to break in. And I will break in around my-"
[Where are you?] Peko sent to Nom-Nom via the Party Module, finding the historical text officially ruined.
[I’m almost there! Five minutes!] The reply came instantly.
Figuring it was time to head to the takoyaki stall anyway, Peko casually pulled the heavy velvet book out from under his hand and closed it with a soft, dismissive thud before she gracefully stood up from the chair and stepped past him without sparing the Beast-Folk a single glance.
Jin’s face immediately flushed a violent, humiliating red, looking like he had just been slapped across the face with a wet rag.
Peko slid the heavy ledger back onto its designated shelf and walked toward the library’s grand exit, but the heavy, aggressive footsteps of the young master and his bodyguard pounded against the floorboards right behind her.
Just as her boots crossed the threshold, stepping out onto the sunlit cobblestone street, Jin lunged forward.
His sweaty fingers clamped violently around her hair, roughly yanking her to a halt.
"I am speaking to you, bitch!" he hissed, his jackal ears flattening against his skull in absolute, indignant rage. "Spread your legs while I am still asking nicely, or I will drag you to my estate by your hair!"
Feeling her hair clutched in the filth’s grasp, Peko’s patience finally snapped.
According to their carefully crafted cover story in Fugen, she was supposed to be Nico’s older human sister, capping out at a respectable but completely average Tier 5.
Turning around and casually beating the absolute hell out of a noble and his Tier 6 bodyguard would instantly shatter Nico’s lie.
But as the noble’s sweaty clutch tugged onto her scalp, the Phoenix no longer cared.
The air around Peko violently shifted as she looked back and locked her violet eyes, widened in untameable fury, onto the young noble.
The Tier 6 bodyguard immediately sensed the terrifying, ancient dread leaking from her frame as his smug expression vanished, instantly replaced by sheer, instinctual panic while his eyes widened in pure horror.
"Young Master, release her!" the guard screamed, desperately lunging forward to pull Jin back.
But just as the swordsman shifted his weight-
-BAM-!
A blur of black hair and draconic muscle slammed into the bodyguard with the might of a meteor.
The sheer kinetic force of the impact launched the massive Tier 6 swordsman entirely off his feet, sending him flying through the air, before crashing into the streets, digging a trench through the solid cobblestone before slamming into a wall fifty feet away with a sickening crunch.
Nom-Nom stood where he had been, her arm still raised from the backhand, while her violet eyes blazed with unhinged draconic fury.
She had seen Peko being harassed from down the street, and she had acted without a single second of hesitation.
After all, Peko beating a Tier 6 guard would raise suspicion. Nom-Nom doing it was just a regular Tuesday.
Jin completely froze, his hand instantly moving away from Peko’s hair as he stared at the trenched street and his half-dead bodyguard.
"Do you know who I am?!" Jin shrieked, his voice cracking as he stumbled backward in absolute terror. "I am a Kamo! If you touch me, my family will-"
"You could be a god..." Nom-Nom growled as her hand shot forward, viciously clutching around his throat.
She lifted the struggling, kicking noble entirely off the ground with a single arm while her fingers slowly dug into his neck.
And just as her grip tightened further, preparing to crush his entire neck into mulch, a thunderous voice boomed across the open street.
"Unhand him!"
Dove, the Knight’s Commander, marched through the gathering crowd with a face set in a stern, uncompromising glare as she locked eyes with the chimera.
"By the power vested in me by Law, I order you to unhand him!" Dove repeated, her armored hand resting firmly on the hilt of her sword.
Nom-Nom slowly turned her head toward the Commander with a wildly arrogant grin stretching across her face.
"And by the law that is my power..." Nom-Nom replied, her voice dropping into a rumbling draconic octave. "He dies today."
Nom-Nom visibly tightened her grip on the noble’s throat while keeping her slit eyes locked into Dove’s, daring her to make even a slight twitch while Jin let out a pathetic, strangled wheeze.
His jackal ears were pinned completely flat while a dark, wet stain rapidly began spreading down the front of his expensive silk pants.
