Infinite Wealth System: Crazy Tasks, Insane Rewards!-Chapter 26: Chairman Jayden Cole
Chapter 26 - Chairman Jayden Cole
Sabrina led Jayden to the conference room to sign the documents. There was already a lawyer waiting, along with some other top officials in the company.
The moment they noticed Jayden entering the room, they all stood up and began applauding him, their faces painted with smiles.
"Don't acknowledge their kindness too much, Mr. Cole. They are just trying to make an impression so you would put them in your new project," Sabrina muttered to him, making sure that no one heard what she said.
"Right. No one wants to get sacked. Got it," Jayden nodded as they walked forward.
He was led to sit on the main chair at the large table. Some papers were already placed on the desks, with some other officials, including the lawyer, having theirs as well.
When Jayden sat down, the rest of the officials sat down as well, and Sabrina, who was sitting close to Jayden, stood up to begin a speech.
"As you all know, Zintech Automobile Company has been sold, and sitting with us here is the new, legal owner of the company," Sabrina gestured toward Jayden.
The officials nodded.
"After signing the final document, he will be named Chairman of Zintech, and it's clear that many of you might be leaving. I'm not sure of my spot as well, but we have to understand and respect his decision on whatever happens. All we want is the success of Zintech, and we have to contribute to it directly or indirectly," Sabrina spoke.
There was a sharp silence in the room as she finished speaking, but they went ahead to sign the documents, finalizing everything before Jayden was urged to make his speech.
"Ahem..." He cleared his throat as he stood up.
"First of all, I'd like to thank the Grand Ambassador for her kind approach and humility. You have retained your job because of that," Jayden smiled at her.
Sabrina smiled back and gave a sigh of relief, the officials around applauding.
"Also, I can't do without thanking every one of you for your hard work and commitment. Zintech wouldn't have gotten to this stage without it," Jayden added, and they applauded again.
"As the new Chairman and owner of the company, I promise to do everything in my power to lift this company to the very top, where it belongs. And surely, I know I won't be able to achieve that alone. We will all need each other's help, and that's why you are here."
"Together, we can do the incredible. Together... we will rise!"
"Together, we will rise!"
The entire board stood up and chanted as they applauded the new Chairman's speech.
It wasn't a bad speech after all, since learning how to be charismatic and bold was one of the principles of business taught to every student at Sky High University.
Plus, with his Charisma and Confidence attributes increasing, he had been pretty bold enough to do certain things.
He figured the attributes were actually for things like this because he knew that someone without high intelligence, confidence, charm, and charisma wouldn't be able to succeed in this competitive world of business.
The progress with the system was already beginning to take shape.
...
The meeting ended with Jayden not saying anything about the posts... At the moment, no one knew if they were going or not, apart from Sabrina and perhaps the domestic workers.
"Come with me, sir. Your office is this way," Sabrina said.
She had indeed stopped calling him Mr. Cole after he had signed the document. This was because he was officially the Chairman now.
Calling him by his name would be quite... disrespectful.
She led him to the Chairman's office, a large room containing a sitting area and an actual office room. It was a richly furnished space with smart executive office chairs at the silver table, and the sitting area containing some luxurious silver couches.
Jayden bit his lip in amusement, observing the whole place.
"This is your office, sir. The manager and I will be here in ten minutes to discuss the posts," Sabrina said.
"Please do. I am working with time," Jayden replied politely.
Sabrina nodded and left after that.
"Phew..."
"Just like that, I got a company with two Wealth Points. I really need to earn more," Jayden laughed slightly, delighted.
"System, give me more tasks!"
He was amazed because he definitely wasn't expecting this—not until he learned about the value of the Wealth Points.
The rewards after every task were something else, but the Wealth Points' value couldn't be underrated either.
Jayden just couldn't imagine the assets he would gain when he got more of them.
This was just the beginning...
Soon, Sabrina and the manager stepped into the office after an electric signal that revealed a white light on a device on the table.
Jayden pressed the green button, which meant he had approved their entry.
The manager was a fair-skinned man who looked like someone in his early forties, dressed in a black suit as he wore a charismatic look.
"Sir," he greeted.
"Your name?" Jayden asked.
"Peter Edwards, sir. I'm the manager," the man replied.
"I know... Let's have a talk."
Jayden asked both of them to come over to the sitting area, as it would indeed be an important talk. They had to be somewhere pretty comfortable.
When they all settled on the couches, with Jayden alone on one, they began their conversation.
"How's it going?" Jayden asked, glancing at both of them.
"The workers are afraid, sir. Most of them. They don't want to get fired since Zintech had been paying big," Peter said.
"Of course, we should expect that. Zintech just got a new owner, so anything can happen," Jayden smiled. "But they have to understand that I won't make decisions driven by sympathy. No, I won't do that."
Jayden turned to the Ambassador. "What made the previous owner sell the company?" he asked.
"A forty-million-dollar debt, sir. It was actually fifty million, and after being given six months to raise the amount, the company could only get ten million. That's why Mr. Johnson lost hope and sold the company. We only have a month to pay the forty-million-dollar debt or else..."
"I know," Jayden interrupted, heaving a sigh.
Indeed, he already knew about this before he signed that final contract. Buying Zintech for fifteen million as stated in the papers was questionable, but it was then that he knew why it was lower than its standard.
The company was in debt!
Jayden could have just rejected the deal and forfeited the finalization of the signing, but guess what? He chose to accept the load on his head.
Not because he just wanted to be a company owner, but because he knew he could get this company out of debt and bring it to great upliftment. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"I have a list of all the official staff with records of their wages and allowances," Peter brought out a hardcover and handed it to Jayden. "Here."
Jayden received it and nodded.
"We also have job applications in queue. Many are well qualified, but we need you to go through them, sir," Peter handed another hardcover to him.
Jayden quickly took a short glance, and then his eyes met a name on the list.
He flinched, then smiled.
He shook his head right after and couldn't help the chuckle that came next.
"Lynna Hartley," he voiced.
"Yes. One of the most qualified. She is applying for the post of General Accountant. We haven't gotten one since the previous one resigned due to the debt issues," Peter explained.
"Good. How many more people are applying for the same post?" he asked.
"About six, sir. They are all on the list," Peter replied.
"A lot of applications... It's already feeling like an entirely new company," Sabrina spoke.
"Yes. That's because they knew Zintech already had a new owner who they think would fire all the workers due to the debts and employ new ones," Peter said.
"I agree with you," Sabrina nodded.
Jayden stayed silent for a while reading the lists, and then finally spoke.
"Contact Mrs. Lynna Hartley and tell her to come over to see me tomorrow. As for the rest, organize an interview for them. We'll know what to do from there," Jayden ordered.
"Noted, sir."
After the meeting, they left the office while Jayden had some time alone before deciding to go home.
He wouldn't want to spend the whole time lurking around the office on his first day as Chairman.
