Infinite System Inheritor Return From The Abyss-Chapter 429 - 427: Class cancelled
Alex leaned forward on the sofa, elbows resting on his knees, his gaze steady on Seojun. "Seojun, This isn't just any normal guild invitation. You know what kind of quest this is. It's tied to ancient relics, and worse—divine weapons."
Seojun remained in the dean's chair, legs crossed, cup of coffee in hand. "I already have a divine weapon."
Silence. Both Alex and Alexa froze when they remember it.
Alexa sat up straighter, her voice sharp. "Right, Seojun… having one divine weapon is already rare. But two?"
"The deities won't ignore you," Alex added in a low tone. "Each divine weapon is tied to a god or something ancient. If they sense more than one in the same host… they'll come after you. Directly."
Alexa stood up and paced. "They're remnants of real gods, some of them sealed for a reason. If they notice a mortal holding multiple divine weapons, they'll see it as rebellion Or a threat to the balance,."
"Register in the guild, Seojun. We're not asking you to obey us. Just join the quest officially," Alex said, looking at Seojun.
Seojun leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on the armrest of the dean's chair, "I'm trying to live peacefully now. I don't want my family to face danger again… I can save them but in pain?"
He looked away toward the window where faint rays of sunlight pierced through the clouds. "I'm not a god who knows what will happen next. If I could see the future, maybe it would be easier."
Alexa slowly sat down on the edge of the sofa, her legs crossed, her eyes calm but worried. "Joining our guild means exposing yourself more. We already know that." She exhaled deeply. "No matter how powerful you are… if they knew your weakness—"
She didn't finish her sentence.
The room fell quiet.
The only sound was the faint ticking of the wall clock and the distant humming of the academy's outer mana barrier.
Then the door opened with a soft click, and the dean stepped in. His eyes scanned the room with surprise. "Oh. You're already here?" he said, setting down a folder he had under his arm. "How long were you waiting?"
Alex stood up and walked toward the counter. He picked up the coffee pot and quickly reheated a cup with a spell before handing it to the dean."Not much, Dean," he replied with a small smile.
The dean took the cup with a grateful nod. "Thanks. I needed this." He sipped, then sighed. "I decided to cancel the top rankers' visit. Too many sudden changes lately… The world quest is all over the news now"
He looked at them all and raised a brow. "What are your plans now?"
From the sofa, Alexa muttered under her breath, "Making Seojun join the guild…"
The dean blinked. "Still trying, huh?"
Inside the dean's office, the air felt heavier than usual. The dean rubbed his temples and sighed after taking another sip of the reheated coffee."I've made the decision to cancel all remaining classes today," he said finally. "The students are already distracted. With a major quest on the horizon, I doubt either teaching or learning will be effective."He placed the cup down and looked toward Seojun, Alexa, and Alex."Let them go home and rest. They'll need it."
At the White Moon Academy, an announcement echoed through the halls not long after.
"All classes are officially cancelled. Students may leave the campus early. Please check the portal boards for further instructions."
In one of the classrooms, Elshienne and Nathan stood up from their seats. They quietly packed their bags while the rest of their classmates buzzed with energy at the early dismissal.
At the school gate, Nayoung waved excitedly. "Bye bye!" she called out cheerfully, bouncing slightly on her toes.
Elshienne smiled and waved back. "See you!" she replied before stepping into the waiting car. Nathan followed, sliding into the backseat while Elshienne sat in the front passenger seat beside the driver.
"Hi, Mom," Elshienne said sweetly, leaning over to kiss the woman in the driver's seat on the cheek.
Nathan leaned forward from the backseat and did the same. "Mom, why are you driving? Where's the driver?"
Seoyang, currently in her youthful disguise as Lauren, chuckled softly. "I told Mr. Leo I'd drive today." She glanced warmly at the two. "We haven't had much time together lately. Just for today, I wanted us to be alone."
Elshienne reached out and hugged her mother tightly, burying her face into her chest. "Are you joining the quest too, Mom?" she asked softly, voice muffled.
Seoyang gently brushed her daughter's hair back and nodded."I have no choice, dear. But it's still two days away. So let's focus on us right now, hmm?"
Elshienne nodded and sat up properly, fastening her seatbelt. Seoyang smiled and turned the engine on, then glanced at Nathan through the rearview mirror.
"How's class going, sweetie?"
Nathan looked up, his voice calm but respectful. "Uncle Alex was our professor today. He's teaching us about alchemy."
"Alchemy?" Seoyang said, amused as she turned the wheel and pulled the car away from the academy gate.
The quiet hum of the engine filled the car, turned slightly in her seat to face her mother.
"Mom, Uncle Alex taught us about basic alchemy today" she began, telling what happened to their class.
Seoyang chuckled as she glanced at her daughter. "Sounds like quite a class," she said warmly. "Did you enjoy it?"
"Yeah And Nayoung kept asking questions, I'm really glad i met her."
Nathan remained quiet in the back, looking out the window, but a small smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. "She's too talkative."
Then Seoyang asked with a curious tone, "Oh right, I heard you have a new classmate?"
Nathan glanced over at her briefly before returning his gaze to the passing scenery. "Yeah… Areum Jung. From Hyeran Island."
Elshienne turned her head. "Yesterday she came, I tried checking the map… and there's no Hyeran Island listed. Maybe it's isolated."
Seoyang hummed thoughtfully. "No, not her," she said slowly. "I meant the white-haired girl… I think she's the ninth student?"
The moment her words left her lips, both Nathan and Elshienne stiffened. Silence fell in the car. Elshienne's hand, which had been fiddling with the air conditioning dial, froze mid-movement. Nathan didn't answer immediately—he simply stared forward, suddenly more alert.
Elshienne frowned slightly, her eyes narrowing in thought before she finally answered in a quiet voice, "It's Nymira, Mom."
Seoyang glanced at her daughter with interest, her lips curling into a soft, curious smile. "Nymira… what a beautiful name,"
Then looked at Nathan through the rearview mirror. "Don't you think so, Nathan?"
