Infinite System Inheritor Return From The Abyss-Chapter 361 - 359: Nayoung Home
The sun dipped lower on the horizon, casting long shadows across the academy grounds. The final bell had rung, and students began pouring out of classrooms, their chatter filling the air with excitement and exhaustion.
In the Parking Lot
Alexa strolled through the nearly empty parking lot, the rhythmic click of her heels echoing against the pavement. She reached her sleek black car, fishing her keys out of her coat pocket. But before she could press the unlock button, a prickling sensation crawled up her spine. Her instincts flared.
Without hesitation, a dagger of shimmering energy manifested in her right hand. Her grip was firm, stance solid. She spun on her heel, the blade slicing through the air with practiced precision—aimed for the source of the presence behind her.
A hand shot out from the shadows, catching her wrist with a grip like iron. Alexa's eyes narrowed. She didn't falter; her body twisted fluidly, leveraging the momentum to break the hold. Her arm swept down, attempting to dislodge the hand, while her left leg pivoted back, ready to strike.
But the hand didn't budge.
"Tsk," she muttered under her breath. Alexa leaped back, putting distance between them, the dagger still firm in her grasp. Her eyes finally settled on the person she had attacked.
Seojun stood there, one eyebrow raised, his hand still lingering in the air where her wrist had been moments before. His expression was somewhere between amusement and indifference.
"You always greet people like this?" Seojun asked, his voice calm.
Alexa huffed, letting the dagger dissipate into a wisp of light. "Maybe if they don't sneak up on me like some kind of stalker," she shot back, smoothing her coat. "What do you want?"
Alexa leaned against her car, still catching her breath from the brief clash. Seojun stepped closer, his hands still casually tucked into his pockets. He eyed the sleek black car.
"I need to borrow your car," Seojun said bluntly.
Alexa raised an eyebrow but didn't hesitate. She reached into her coat pocket, pulled out the keys, and tossed them his way. Seojun caught them effortlessly.
"No questions?" he asked,
Alexa shrugged. "You wouldn't ask unless you needed it," she replied simply, her eyes sharp but understanding.
Seojun nodded, slipping the keys into his pocket. "Thanks," he said, turning around to head for the driver's seat.
As Seojun drove off, Alexa stayed still for a moment, rubbing her wrist thoughtfully. A wry smile appeared on her lips as she whispered to herself, "I'll never get used to his presence... it's like standing in front of a storm."
Seojun was driving away from the academy. After some time, the car was a little far from the school. He stopped on the side of the road and rolled down the window.
Nayoung's voice came from outside "Professor! You scared me! I thought you were a kidnapper!" She was holding her chest, trying to calm her fast heartbeat.
Seojun looked at her calmly. "I will take you home,"
Nayoung shook her head quickly. "It's fine, really. I can go by myself," she said.
Seojun didn't say anything. He just stared at her silently.
Nayoung felt a chill run down her spine from his serious look. She laughed nervously. "Hehehee… I'm just kidding," she said and then opened the car door to get in. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Seojun waited as Nayoung hopped into the passenger seat, still catching her breath. She fastened her seatbelt and glanced at him nervously. "You know, you really scared me, Professor," she said, half-laughing. "Who just pulls up like that without saying anything?"
Seojun shrugged, his eyes still on the road. "You looked like you were in a hurry," he replied calmly, starting the engine again.
"I'm not," Nayoung whispered.
The car rolled smoothly down the street, and silence settled for a moment before Nayoung spoke up again. "Um... Professor? Why did you stop for me?"
Seojun glanced at her. "You looked like you needed a ride," he replied simply.
Nayoung blinked, a little surprised by the straightforward answer. "Oh... well, thank you," she said softly, a small smile appearing on her lips.
Seojun didn't reply, only focused on the road, but Nayoung could feel the warmth of his gesture, even if he didn't say much.
The car continued down the road, the academy now far behind them as the sun began to dip low in the sky, Later on. Seojun and Nayoung arrived at Nayoung's house. Nayoung opened the door and invited him inside. Seojun nodded and stepped in quietly.
Nayoung called out, "I'm home!"
Almost immediately, a woman appeared from the kitchen. She smiled warmly and said, "Welcome back, Nayoung. You're early today."
Nayoung smiled back. "Yes, professor Jihoon gave me a ride."
The woman looked at Seojun and nodded politely. "It's nice to meet you, professor."
Seojun gave a small bow. "Nice to meet you, ma'am."
Nayoung looked around the house happily. It felt warm and calm here.
The woman smiled and said, "I'm Nayoung's mother. Thank you for taking care of her today, professor."
Seojun nodded. "It's my job to help my students."
She looked thankful. "Nayoung can be stubborn sometimes, but she's a good girl."
Seojun smiled slightly. "She is strong. I will keep helping her."
Nayoung's mother seemed happy to hear that. She offered some tea. "Please, have some tea before you leave."
Seojun sat quietly in the living room. Nayoung's mother poured tea into a small cup and handed it to him with a warm smile. She talked softly, trying to make him feel comfortable. She thanked him for taking care of Nayoung and asked about his day. Seojun listened politely and answered.
After a while, the door at the top of the stairs opened slowly. Nayoung appeared, smiling brightly. She walked over to Seojun and said, "Aren't you going to leave, professor?"
Suddenly, Nayoung's mother slapped Nayoung on the shoulder. Nayoung blinked in surprise and pouted, "I was just asking Mom!"
Her mother gave her a sharp look and said, "Don't push him to leave so fast. Be polite!"
Nayoung's mother looked at Nayoung and asked kindly, "How is school going for you?"
Nayoung smiled a little but didn't say much. Seojun answered politely, "She is doing well. Just needs to focus more on controlling her mana."
Suddenly, the door burst open with a loud bang. A boy with a mullet haircut stepped in. He frowned when he saw Nayoung. Nayoung quickly moved aside, giving him space.
The boy frowned and said with annoyance, "Who said visitors are allowed here? After that tea leave!"
Without waiting for an answer, he turned and climbed the stairs.
Nayoung's mother shouted after him, "Don't be rude! Come back here and show some respect!"
Seojun stood up from the sofa, offering a polite smile. "Thank you for the hospitality," he said, bowing slightly.
Nayoung quickly followed him to the door, her cheeks slightly flushed with embarrassment. "I'm really sorry about my brother, Professor," she said, rubbing the back of her neck. "He just... doesn't really like visitors."
Nayoung's mother stepped forward, her expression apologetic. "I'm so sorry for his behavior, Professor Jihoon," she said sincerely, bowing her head. "He's always been like that. I hope you don't take it personally."
Seojun shook his head with a gentle smile. "It's fine. I understand," he replied calmly. "I'll take my leave now."
Nayoung instinctively moved to follow him out, but Seojun raised his hand slightly, stopping her in her tracks. "No need to see me off," he said,
Nayoung blinked, then her smile returned, bright and cheerful. "Goodbye, Professor! Thanks for the ride again!" she called out, waving enthusiastically.
Seojun raised his hand in response, waving back as he walked to his car. He moved with a steady, unhurried pace, Just as he reached his car door, a voice stopped him.
"Can we talk, Professor?"
Seojun turned around, his eyes landing on the familiar figure standing a few steps away. It was Namsu.
