Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1073: Regeneration
"Don't try to hold back and save energy. That will be counterproductive to the goal of luring all the enemies toward us. If we do that, the second team will have higher chance to eliminating the monsters before they can realize what hit them. Sealyn added"
Everyone nodded while showing determination in their eyes… the idea of fighting like that and spending all of their energy as fast as possible seemed insane against a larger force, but everyone was willing to do that.
When the time came, the group began to move slowly toward the enemy's base. Sealyn was completely focused on preparing herself, but she was still waiting to get closer to cause as much damage as possible. She wanted to attack only when the enemies take notice of the group.
Even though it was dark and there were no light of stars or of a moon, the monsters still kept moving the same way as during the day and they didn't show any signs of exhaustion either. Still, Rain was able to notice when all of them stopped moving for a brief moment… it seemed that they had noticed that something was amiss in the air.
Sealyn noticed that as well and then used all of her magic to create and fire countless ice spears… it was an unusual choice considering the enemies, but it was still the best choice considering her own set of skills and relics. That was confirmed soon after…
As the attack started, Sealyn, empowered by the relics and exuding confidence, took charge of the situation. With a swift and assertive motion, she unleashed a barrage of ice spears into the midst of the monstrous horde.
The ice spears streaked through the air with deadly precision. While she didn't have the luxury of time for perfect aim, the sheer force and velocity of her attacks proved devastating. The monsters, whether airborne or grounded, found themselves impaled by the icy projectiles.
In the sky, the monsters writhed and convulsed as Sealyn's ice spears pierced their bodies, sending some plummeting to the ground in a chaotic descent. The land below witnessed a similar spectacle, with the monsters impaled on the sharp, glacial projectiles, their struggles futile against the onslaught.
The power behind Sealyn's attacks was evident as the monsters fell, their numbers diminishing rapidly under the relentless assault. Even those that managed to evade direct impalement weren't spared, as the force of the ice spears sent them hurtling toward the ground…
Rain canceled the domain and then everyone appeared… The Monsters that escaped the onslaught were confused when they saw that group of unknown people suddenly charging at them, but that didn't stop them from charging as well.
The start of the fight had been quite something… everyone used Impulse and then pointed their hands essentially at point blank on the faces of the monsters that were on the ground… in the next moment, their faces were bombarded by lightning bolts and blasts of fire.
The faces of the monsters began to melt as they were unable to move, so the wounded ones began to fall pretty fast. Before they could being surrounded by the monsters that recovered, the soldiers finished the job and looked for other targets.
Rain was pretty much doing the same thing as them and using the gloves since it was easier and thanks to his high intelligence, his fire blasts could pierce the heads of the monsters and the lightning bolts could fry their brains in a matter of moments. Still, he could feel that something was off.
The skill Absolute Zero received 1000 experience points.
The skill Fire Fury received 1000 experience points.
…
"... Is the experience that is making me feel like this?" Rain thought. "The dragons that were one hundred years old that I defeated before gave me ten times more experience… even if I am sharing the experience with Sealyn, this is weird…"
Soon enough, Rain found out the reason for that odd feeling… the start of the battle had been quite good. The warriors were passing through the enemies like a hot knife in butter. When the base opened and more monsters started to come out from it, the group had killed more than half of the wounded monsters. Things were looking good until…
"Watch your backs!" Sealyn shouted.
Rain turned around and then he saw the corpses that they left behind trembling. Even the beasts that he had completely destroyed their heads were returning to life… Rain clearly saw all the burn and the electric damage disappearing as the flesh of the monsters were repaired.
"How is this possible?" Larisa asked. "You gained the experience!"
Larisa wasn't the one who was astonished… half of the people that turned around flinched when they saw that. Not only were the monsters reviving, all of them, the group was also getting surrounded.
"Split into two groups and stay close to each other!" Seadrei shouted.
In the next moment, Seadrei summoned giant arms of weather, and they became like the claws of a real Dragon… the conditions of that world weren't completely bad for life, but the cold sure was going to bother him eventually.
Before long, Seadrei jumped in and then grabbed the bodies of two crystal monsters, and then smashed them to death. Still, even those began to be restored after a couple of moments.
Both groups on the area and the the ones on the back surrounded everyone and they kept their distance while they tightened their formation… The warriors looked around for a moment and wondered what they should do… charging in to force an opening was probably the only thing they could do in that situation… However, the monsters were aware of that and they kept moving around in the air and in the ground to make it look confusing the weak point of their formation.
"Target their heads and hearts as well!" Seadrei shouted. "They can regenerate as fast as dragons! It is the only way!"
