Chapter 125: The Truth of Yixia Border

Joe was ordered by Aiden to stay with Aurora and the others. Aiden was about to go to Henry’s office to discuss the reward his team deserved.

He succeeded in his mission yesterday, so Henry should tell Aiden about the location of Gerard’s group of Knights.

By knowing Gerard and his team’s location, it would be easy for Aiden to learn the Tempering Body skill.

Aiden left with Helen by his side. Upon arriving at Henry’s study, Helen immediately opened it without knocking first. How surprised they were to see Henry and Rose hugging, not kissing.

When the door opened, Henry and Rose looked shocked. Both of them reflexively released their hugs from each other, the situation was so awkward.

Helen, however, had no objection to Henry and Rose’s relationship. Their mother had died when Helen was just a year old due to illness. Helen’s bond with her mother wasn’t very well formed, which is why she easily accepted Rose.

But, it was different with Gerard. He would still consider his dead mother as his only mother. Rose? Gerard only considered her as one of the noble families, nothing more.

"A-Aiden?" startled Henry.

"S-Sorry, I think we came at the wrong time," Aiden replied.

Henry turned his head, seeing Rose red-faced and looking away, unwilling to be seen blushing by Aiden. Helen and Aiden stepped inside.

"What’s wrong?" asked Henry.

"Sorry, Lord Henry. I’ve come to retrieve my reward," Aiden explained.

Rose reflexively looked back, daring to see Aiden’s piercing eyes. That’s right! His demeanor reminded Rose of when Henry was young. That was the moment she was captivated by Henry until this moment.

"Right! I had forgotten about that," Henry replied.

The man asked Aiden for the team status slip. Aiden patted his magic pouch and held the plate, the young man immediately handed it to Henry.

From Henry’s plate, there was magic energy connected from Henry’s noble plate to Aiden’s team status plate. Having had enough, Henry handed Aiden’s team status plate back to its owner.

[DING! Congratulations, Independent Mission complete!]

[Rewards:]

[1. 100 silver, 1000 bronze]

[2. +100 Contribution Points]

Aiden touched his team status plate, picking up three bags consisting of one bag of 100 silver and two bags of 1000 bronze in total.

Although this was his first independent mission, the rewards were far more than Aiden had expected.

"Thank you, Lord Henry."

"Of course."

"There’s one more thing. I want to keep your promise to me," Aiden said.

"About Gerard’s location. Am I right?" asked Henry, Aiden cleared his throat.

Henry was silent, he looked down and pulled out his desk drawer. Among the folders in the drawer, there was one filled with mission detail sheets for Gerard’s group of knights from the Arcanis Sword Institute. Henry didn’t want to break his own word.

He stepped forward and handed the paper directly to Aiden. Aiden accepted it and read the mission details. He was shocked to see that the rank status of the Gerard Knight Group was A-rank.

"He’s been assigned to the Yixia border. He’ll remain there for a year," Henry explained.

"Gerard and his team left a month ago. By now, they’ve probably arrived at the Yixia Border," Henry replied.

"Why were the knights sent to the Yixia border? What’s going on there?" asked Aiden, curious.

Henry gasped, as did Rose. Only Aiden and Helen didn’t know what was happening at the Yixia border, that was probably because the instructors at the Magical Astralis Academy hadn’t told them, not yet anyway.

"Didn’t your instructors tell you?" asked Henry.

Helen shook her head, none of the instructors from the magical academy had told her. Aiden, after all, had left the place and knew nothing.

"They’re young, it’s normal not to know," Rose replied, stepping closer to Henry.

Now, Rose could be seen standing next to Henry. She looked at Aiden and Helen sternly, about to tell them both of the situation at the Yixia Border.

"The Yixia Border is the most dangerous and vulnerable place in the entire Arcanis territory. They’re fighting against the Xiliang Kingdom," Rose said.

"Kingdom war?" asked Aiden.

"That’s right. Yixia’s border is directly across from Xiliang. Arcanis and Xiliang have never been at peace since the two kingdoms were established," Rose explained.

"Right now, the abilities of the Arcanis army are weakened for no reason. That’s because the mages from Xiliang are talented beyond our expectations," Rose added.

’I thought they were fighting monsters,’ Aiden explained.

Rose turned her head to the side, looking at the map of the Arcanis Kingdom taped to the wall of Henry’s study.

The location of the Xiliang Border was close to Pompo’s administrative area, with Reinhard often sending supplies there because only Lunor City was rich in food resources closest to Pompo.

"If the Yixia border is breached by the enemy, the first city they will conquer will be Pompo," Rose explained.

"If Pompo is captured, then they have many routes to other cities. That will make it difficult for Arcanis to stop their march," Rose added.

The woman turned her head back, looking intently at Aiden and Helen, "That’s why the Yixia Border is so important, even a Rank A Knight Company is sent there to guard the border."

Aiden nodded. Now, he knew the reason why Gerard had been sent there. Still, Aiden didn’t know if he could enter such military territory. It would be difficult for Aiden to go there just to meet with Gerard.

"If you want to go there, I suggest you go as a knight or mage group escort," Rose replied.

"Escort group?" asked Aiden.

"That’s right! Independent groups can’t just go there, your credibility is questionable, even lower than adventurer groups," Henry replied.

"By becoming a bodyguard for a knight or mage group, you can enter the military territory as part of the group," Henry said.

Aiden nodded. If that was the only way to get there quickly, then Aiden would have to do it. However, he had no idea how.

"Easy!"

"The information bulletin in the city will always post the group escort information. You can choose which group you want to protect," Rose explained.

"However, since your base is mages, it would be best if—"

"No, it wouldn’t. Right now, we’re Magic Knights, not mages," Aiden interrupted, looking at Rose.

"Hmm."

Henry stepped forward, patting Aiden lightly on the shoulder, "I’ll help you choose a suitable group."

When Henry said that, Rose remembered something. She smiled broadly as she walked over to Aiden, the woman having a suggestion for Aiden’s problem.

"What if you became an escort for the 17th Mage Group?" Rose asked.

"The 17th Mage Group?"

"That’s right. That’s the group of Allana, my daughter," Rose replied.

"WHAT?!"
