Infernal Entity: Evolving With My Demonic System-Chapter 32: Fame
Today was the third day in the Oval Academy, and it was the official start of the four-year training for the first years. A lot of them were overly excited about getting to classes and learning all sorts of things, like how to harness the deepest parts of their abilities and, above all, how to hunt for Mythic Shards.
Ares was the first to wake up that morning, and he made sure to wake Rick and Axel up as well. Ares, being the most charismatic in the trio, was well-informed on most of the school’s activities.
Axel had noticed a few things about him. He seemed to lack even the most basic knowledge about a particular topic or thing. Sometimes, he spoke like he was from a different planet entirely, but that couldn’t be true... right?
All three students stepped onto the school grounds and headed straight for their classes.
"What do you think it’s going to be like? The class. What do you think we would even do there?" Axel asked as they walked.
Ares shot him a glance but said nothing. Rick, on the other hand, spoke up.
"They’d probably teach us to hunt for mythic shards. I heard a group of second years talking about how they even went on some expedition of some sort!" Rick said excitedly.
"Ugh! Don’t get so excited, hotshot," Ares spoke finally. "You think hunting Mythic creatures is all fun and games until you end up being the one who’s hunted."
Rick’s excitement faded and the smile on his face was replaced with a frown, and Ares felt guilty.
"All I’m trying to say is you should worry about getting stronger and worry less about bloody beasts, yeah?"
Rick didn’t answer. No one said anything again, and they all kept going. They eventually got to the building and entered.
Up ahead was the classroom assigned for some of the first years. Inside, students of different power grades chatted among themselves, sharing their distinct experiences before they got into the academy.
"I’m telling you, I was the top of my class back at Ridrin Colony," one student boasted amongst his peers.
"Every time I—"
The student suddenly cut himself short when he noticed three new presences in the classroom.
"Holy shit! Is that him?!"
"That’s him, alright," another student responded quickly.
"That’s the guy that exposed the terrorist!"
---
The moment Axel stepped foot inside the classroom, everything went silent almost instantly. Then, it erupted in cheers, with students clapping their hands and waving at Axel.
Within seconds, he was surrounded by almost half the class who had tons of questions to ask him.
"How did you defeat him?"
"I heard he almost killed you! Are you okay?!"
"You’re shorter than I expected..."
’What the hell is going on?!’
More questions kept flying around from left to right. It was kind of overwhelming for Axel. He never thought he would become somewhat famous, especially for framing someone.
Last night, after the whole thing went down with Dane Cornwall, the Oval officers had arrested Dane, and quickly, the news spread like wildfire.
It was big news. "Suspected terrorist on school grounds" was pretty much the word on every student’s lips by the next morning.
The other thing on everybody’s lips was Axel. They all talked about how he potentially saved the school from a possible attack.
"You’re famous now." Rick said nervously as more student gathered around Axel.
For some reason, no one seemed to acknowledge Ares. No one said anything about presence at the scene last night, and that made him a bit sour. His face was contorted with irritation, and he didn’t even try to hide it.
"Yeah, of course. Ignore the hero who did all the work," he scoffed, loud enough for only Rick to hear.
Axel’s little celebrity moment soon came to an end as soon as the teacher for the class walked in and ordered everyone to take their seats.
The teacher introduced himself.
"My name is Lin, and I’ll be your teacher for the day."
Lin was a tall man. His head was almost brushing the class ceiling every time he made subtle gestures. That made some students wonder if his height was an ability of some sort. Maybe it was.
"So, today’s class will be on Mythic Weapons and, of course, you guessed it, Mythic Creatures," Lin revealed. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Loud gasps escaped the mouth of some of the students, including Rick.
"I heard that Mythic Shards can be used to increase someone’s mutant gene capacity," he explained to Axel with excitement.
"We all know the history of Mythic Creatures and their weapons, right?" Lin continued.
---
Many things happened during the first war with the Skavs: Supreme Awakenings, the rising and falling of empires, and the discovery of beasts.
The Skaverns traveling through space had caused a sort of imbalance in space and time itself. After the first war was over, humans thought their problems were over... until the first portal opened. That portal was said to be as a result of fracture in space.
When the first portal opened, something strange walked out of it.
It wasn’t like the Skavverns, with their bulgy arms and legs and the sinister smirk they always carried. Whatever it was was intelligent, yes, but it had killer instinct, and it wreaked havoc across two states before it was eventually defeated.
The interdimensional creature was studied, and something was found inside it: its core.
A glowing shard that had a type of energy. Said energy was later used to do many different things.
One of those things was the creation of Mythic Weapons and gears.
As time went on, more of these creatures appeared. More portals opened, and more creatures poured out. But people were prepared. They fought, and they won, getting their hands on even more Mythic Shards.
More research showed that some creatures also possessed powers of their own, and that raised questions of the origin of the powers that humans possessed.
It made REIN’s claim about being "cocoons for the Algos" even more reasonable, but it was debunked later on.
The only problem now was that not everyone could possess a Mythic Weapon. Only rich and powerful elites who had the best abilities could defeat a good creature and take its power for themselves.
There was also the option of purchase, but not everyone has enough money for that.
One would have to work extremely hard to afford a good Mythic Gear.
Lin talked for a while, explaining more things to the students. After a while, he rounded up.
"Now that we’ve learned the origin of Mythic Creatures and Shards, who wants to see what a Mythic Weapon looks like?"
