Imperial Cultivation-Chapter 1197 - 1193: Origins
He thought Chu Zhiyuan would act without hesitation, directly destroying a statue to demonstrate his power and thereby intimidate these tributes.
The tributes here were on rotation, often staying for ten years.
Yet some tributes remained here constantly and never left.
All power and fame were irrelevant to them; they only cared about one thing: the Undying Evil Venerable.
They have been suppressing the Undying Evil Venerable and have been fighting against it.
For them, Chu Zhiyuan himself was insignificant.
But if he could destroy the Undying Evil Venerable, their attitude would be entirely different.
He did not understand why Chu Zhiyuan hesitated.
Chu Zhiyuan shook his head and said, "These statues cannot be easily destroyed."
"Why?" Huang Zhengyang quickly asked, "They are all nuisances that need to be suppressed, big troubles that should be destroyed to thoroughly solve the problem."
Chu Zhiyuan said, "These statues are connected to each other, forming an array, right?"
He turned his gaze to the elder in a gray robe: "Elder Guan, these statues are suppressing some peculiar object beneath the abyss, correct?"
The elder put down his hoe, sized up Chu Zhiyuan, and nodded: "Come in and have a seat so we can talk."
Huang Zhengyang was surprised: "Elder Guan, isn’t the Evil Suppressing Abyss suppressing these Undying Evil Venerable statues?"
This greatly defied his expectations.
"You’re a fool, yet you want to be the Director?" Guan Zhengying snorted: "What dreams are you having!"
Huang Zhengyang turned to look at Chu Zhiyuan.
Chu Zhiyuan said, "Utilizing the indestructible nature of the Undying Evil Venerable statues to suppress some existence is indeed a very clever method."
Huang Zhengyang frowned: "What kind of existence? Could it be stronger than the Undying Evil Venerable?"
"You sure act like a Director..."
Guan Zhengying went to the side of the vegetable garden, bent down to pick up a stone and wiped his shoe sole, shaking his head incessantly.
Chu Zhiyuan looked at Huang Zhengyang.
Huang Zhengyang frowned in deep thought.
He indeed hadn’t encountered a greater power in this world nor heard of it.
The Evil Extermination Department, deals with evil demons, which are the result of evil power from the outer world.
And among the outer world abnormal power, the Undying Evil Venerable is the most formidable existence.
Undying and indestructible, tremendously troublesome.
Guan Zhengying put the small stone back in place, stood up, clapped his hands, walked to the stone table by the well, sat down, rubbed his fingers, and the Red Mud Furnace immediately started burning, brewing tea.
While setting out tea cups, he hummed and said, "You’ve been busy all day as the Director, haven’t you?"
Huang Zhengyang replied, "Yes, Zhou Sizheng focuses on cultivation; all the trivial matters are handled by me."
"No time to read the notes of previous directors?"
"I’ve read some."
"You’ve only read the modern ones, not the ancient ones, right?"
"...Yes, they are too old, not much use even if read."
The notes of ancient directors often spoke of now vanished evil demons, seemingly divine and almost legendary.
Those evil demons hardly appear, so there’s no need to spend much effort to look at them.
Given that time, it’s better to practice martial arts more, to enhance the realm and understanding.
Guan Zhengying waved them over to sit and talk, humming: "This Evil Suppressing Abyss has existed for a hundred thousand years."
"A hundred thousand years..." Huang Zhengyang clicked his tongue.
Guan Zhengying hummed: "And the object within the abyss has existed since a hundred thousand years ago."
Huang Zhengyang asked: "What is it?"
"No idea." Guan Zhengying shook his head: "If you see it, you won’t be able to see me now."
Huang Zhengyang frowned and pondered, thinking about what evil thing existed a hundred thousand years ago and was so powerful.
Yet there were no hints in his mind.
He turned to look at Chu Zhiyuan.
Chu Zhiyuan didn’t know either, shaking his head, "I can only vaguely sense its existence, but don’t know what it is."
"You can sense it?" Guan Zhengying asked.
Chu Zhiyuan nodded, "It hides underwater, constantly changing positions."
Guan Zhengying quickly asked, "Can you pinpoint its exact location?"
"The change is too fast, hard to determine." Chu Zhiyuan shook his head.
Guan Zhengying’s eyes fluttered, filled with brilliance.
Huang Zhengyang said, "Elder Guan, Brother Chu’s sensing is extremely sharp, far surpassing his cultivation, far beyond us."
Guan Zhengying gently tapped his index finger on the table, considering, "If its position could be pinpointed, then it would be very useful."
"What’s the use?" Huang Zhengyang quickly asked.
Guan Zhengying said, "Its difficulty lies one in its strong power, but more importantly in its elusive nature; such a large realm, how to find it?"
Huang Zhengyang’s spirits lifted, "Is it already possible to suppress it now?"
Guan Zhengying said, "We haven’t been idle in these tens of thousands of years, constantly seeking methods."
"What methods?" Huang Zhengyang quickly asked.
Guan Zhengying said, "Several methods ... treasures, secret techniques, and arrays, all considered for testing, but never had the chance."
Huang Zhengyang turned to Chu Zhiyuan: "Brother Chu, can you find it?"
Chu Zhiyuan pondered.
Guan Zhengying said, "Using thirty-six Undying Evil Venerable statues as an array, now merely basic suppression, actually could transform into an attack."
Chu Zhiyuan said, "Elder Guan, best not to alter the array for now."
Guan Zhengying nodded, "Naturally ... come, have some tea."
He picked up the Red Mud Furnace, Huang Zhengyang quickly stepped forward to grab it, pouring three cups full.
Chu Zhiyuan said, "This object’s speed is too fast; it’s very difficult to determine its position, ... it keeps moving, never stopping, very peculiar."
Even a swimming fish won’t perpetually swim around; it would also have moments of stillness.
But this object’s position constantly drifts, keeps changing, never pauses.
Guan Zhengying frowned, "It doesn’t pause at all, must have moments of rest, right?"
Chu Zhiyuan said, "Since I entered, it’s been constantly changing positions."
Huang Zhengyang said, "Such a peculiar thing, I would like to see it, ... I’ll go back and check director notes to find out what it is."
Guan Zhengying pushed a tea cup to Chu Zhiyuan, "We’ll go outside to have a look in a moment."
Chu Zhiyuan slightly nodded, took the tea cup.
Once the cup of tea was finished, Guan Zhengying took Chu Zhiyuan and Huang Zhengyang out of the small courtyard.
He walked to a nearby courtyard, knocked on the courtyard gate: "Old Hu, Old Hu!"
"What’s the matter!" Came a disgruntled shout from the courtyard.
Guan Zhengying pushed open the door, gestured.
Chu Zhiyuan and Huang Zhengyang followed him into the courtyard.
The small courtyard was a mess, filled with various stone sculptures, all depicting different animals.
Chu Zhiyuan glanced around, feeling that these statues all contained a spiritual essence.
He curiously looked at the elder sitting in front of a White Jade strange beast statue.
The elder had white eyebrows and beard, his hair standing like spears, eyes like lightning.
Compared to the unremarkable Guan Zhengying, he was striking, like a treasure sword unsheathed.
He raised his head, glanced at Chu Zhiyuan and the others, his gaze as cold as electricity, snorted, "Xiaohuang, what are you doing here again, seeking trouble."
Huang Zhengyang smiled, "Elder Hu, this gentleman beside me is Chu Zhiyuan from the Heavenly Sword Sect, capable of destroying the Undying Evil Venerable statues and killing the Undying Evil Venerable."
Chu Zhiyuan clasped his fist, "Greetings, Elder Hu."
The elder snorted, "You can destroy the Undying Evil Venerable statues?"
Chu Zhiyuan nodded.
The elder shook his head, "Impossible, they are indestructible, carrying the undying nature of the Undying Evil Venerable."
Chu Zhiyuan smiled faintly, drew his sword.
The Golden Sword floated slowly towards the elder.
The elder merely glanced at the Golden Sword and his expression changed slightly: "Undying Golden Essence!"
Chu Zhiyuan thought, he recognized the origin of the Golden Sword’s golden powder.
Knowing its origin, he likely understands its properties and could accordingly modify.
The elder sat up straight, carefully observed the Golden Sword, nodded, "Quite interesting!"
Chu Zhiyuan saw he didn’t reach out to touch the Golden Sword, indicating he genuinely recognized its value.
Ignorant ones, once they touched the Gold Sword, would understand the weight of a thousand pounds, nearly impossible to hold.
Unless the person intentionally made it lighter.
