Immortal Supreme: Sovereign of the Grand Dao-Chapter 294: Origin of Avalon
Cora helped Lady Ayara to her feet. The older woman rose slowly, still trembling.
Still crying. Her composure had completely shattered in the face of this revelation.
Cora’s own emotions were barely contained now. Arthur could see it in the way her jaw tightened. In the slight tremor in her hands. In the way her eyes glistened just a bit too brightly.
"Tell me what happened to my sister’s sect," Cora said quietly. "Tell me everything."
Lady Ayara nodded. She took a shaky breath and tried to compose herself. It took her several moments before she could speak again.
"There is more to the story than what I told Prince Arthur earlier," she began. Her voice was steadier now but still heavy with emotion.
"Information that was kept secret even from most sect members. Only the elders knew the full truth."
Cora waited silently. Listening intently.
"Before our ancestor left," Lady Ayara continued, "she called the sect elders together for a private meeting. She told them that she had important matters to attend to. Loose ends from her past that could no longer be ignored."
Lady Ayara’s hands clenched in her lap. "She hinted at old enemies. Powerful forces that had been hunting her for centuries. She said she had tried to hide, tried to build a new life and protect those she cared about, but that it was no longer possible. They were getting closer. She could feel it."
Cora’s expression darkened. Her eyes grew colder, and harder.
"She told the elders that she had to face these enemies before they found the sect," Lady Ayara said. "She couldn’t risk bringing that kind of danger down upon us. So she left. She went to confront them alone."
Lady Ayara’s voice dropped to almost a whisper. "She said she would return if she could. But if she didn’t come back... we should assume the worst."
The room fell silent again. The weight of those words pressed down on everyone present.
Cora’s hands slowly curled into fists. Her nails bit into her palms. When she spoke again, her voice was low and filled with barely restrained anger.
"Those old enemies," she said coldly. "They must have tracked us down. After all these years, they finally found our location."
She looked up. Met Lady Ayara’s eyes through her veil. "My sister left the sect to protect you all. She went to face them alone rather than risk exposing you to that danger."
Lady Ayara nodded slowly. "That’s what we came to believe as well."
Cora’s expression twisted. Anger and grief warred across her features. "The thought that she might have been captured... or killed... while fighting alone..."
Her voice broke slightly on those words. She took a breath. Steadied herself.
But Arthur could see the rage building beneath the surface. The determination. The absolute resolve.
Cora turned fully toward Lady Ayara now. Her posture shifted. When she spoke again, her tone had changed. It carried authority and weight.
"There is something you need to understand," Cora said firmly. "Something your sect members never knew. The true meaning behind the title ’Mistress of Avalon’ and why my sister never revealed her real name to anyone."
Lady Ayara straightened slightly. She sensed the importance of what was about to be said.
"Avalon was not just a title," Cora explained. "It was the name of an ancient organization. A powerful force that existed long ago, though not from this realm. My sister and I... we were both saintesses of Avalon before it fell."
Lady Ayara’s breath caught. "An ancient organization?"
"Yes," Cora confirmed. "Avalon was destroyed long ago. Completely annihilated by enemies who feared its power and influence. Most of its members were killed. Only a few survived the destruction."
Cora’s eyes grew distant as she remembered. "My sister and I were among those survivors. We escaped the final battle, but barely. And we’ve been hunted ever since." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"The enemies who destroyed Avalon never stopped searching for the remaining survivors," Cora continued. Her voice was cold now. Hard. "They wanted to eliminate every last trace of what Avalon represented. Every person who carried its legacy."
Understanding dawned in Lady Ayara’s eyes. "Is that why the ancestor never revealed her true name. She couldn’t risk exposing the connection to Avalon."
"Not really," Cora shook her head. "If she had used her real name, those responsible for our fall into this mortal world they can find us before we can recover our strength."
"The thing is the enemies who caused our fall here is different from those who destroyed Avalon."
"So my sister using the title Mistress of Avalon is still dangerous. I truly cannot fathom why she would," Cora frowned deeply.
"It could also be that the reason she choose such a title was so that if I happen to hear any news of her I would know she is the one since I would be the only one who recognizes the origin of her title."
"And since our current enemies added not even aware of our past they wouldn’t be able to tell she is the one either."
"So it’s possible she went to deal with our current enemies..."
Lady Ayara’s hands trembled again. But this time it was from anger rather than shock. "Then those enemies... they finally tracked her down anyway."
"Yes," Cora said bitterly. "Just as they attacked my sister and me when we were traveling together through the higher realms."
Her voice grew rougher. More emotional. "That attack was brutal. Sudden. We were ambushed by multiple experts. The battle was fierce and chaotic. In the end, the spatial formation we were using collapsed completely."
"The unstable space tore us apart," Cora continued. "We were separated and thrown into different locations. I crash-landed on this mortal plane. I had no way to contact my sister. No way to know if she even survived."
Her hands clenched tighter. "And now I learn that she might have been found again. Tracked down despite all her precautions. Forced to leave the sect she’d built to protect her disciples from those same enemies."
The anger in Cora’s voice was palpable now. It filled the room like heat from a fire.
"The thought that my sister might be fighting alone right now," Cora said through gritted teeth. "That she might be captured or killed while I’m here, unable to help her..."
