Two rows of armed guards bowed their heads as two men walked past them. The one in the lead was the newly enthroned grand elder of the Beast God Sanctum, Immortal Crimson Eagle Qu Shen. He seemed to have lost a lot of weight but his face seemed more energetic than before, if a little younger if that was possible.

The person next to him wore a large hood that hid their features but it was clear that it was a man. While Qu Shen's every step was filled with the might of a Spirit King, the other man gave off no spiritual aura at all.

The pair strolled through the underground corridor and arrived at a series of metal doors with tiny slits built into them. More guards met their approach with bows.

"Grand Elder."

"Mmm, these are the Ji Clan people?" Qu Shen asked.

"Yes, Grand Elder!" One of the guards took out a jade slip and reported with a steady voice, "We have captured the current clan head of the Ji Clan, the five elders, and the six branch family heads. They are all imprisoned within these doors."

Qu Shen nodded and glanced at his companion, "What would you like to do about them?"

Beneath the hood, Chen Wentian's lip twitched and formed a casual smile. The Ji Clan were staunch supporters of the lion lord and the He Clan. Although they were frightened by the fall of He Zicheng, they were still a prickly thorn that needed to be uprooted. However, their crimes were relatively mild compared to other groups. They simply fought for their sworn lord instead of betraying people.

Chen Wentian waved his hand, "Let them rot in prison for a few decades as a warning to the rest of the Ji Clan. They are still an old and influential noble family so it will be a waste to lose them. The berserk bull transformation art is quite good and it will benefit the city if another immortal can be developed."

"I understand, I will watch over the Ji Clan and develop a proper successor." Qu Shen replied.

The courtesy and respect in his voice stunned the surrounding guards. They were loyalists of the eagle faction. They had never expected their lord to treat another like this. This sight brought an even greater cloud mystery to the recent changes happening within Beast God City.

This was Chen Wentian's intention. If outside parties wanted to investigate the recent events, there had to be a fake persona to lead them down the wrong direction. He couldn't show his real face around the city for a long time.

The pair walked through several more corridors and arrived at another set of prison doors. The guards there bowed and quickly explained the situation. These cells held the members of the Jin Family. They had used to be core members of the snake faction but that betrayed them, leading to the fall of the whole faction. The ones held here included Jin Niang and Jin Zenan as well as other criminals.

"Jin Niang is pregnant. She is carrying He Xinghan's cub. Jin Zenan also is the sole inheritor of the snake skin transformation art. I wasn't sure what to do with them." Qu Shen said.

"Hmmmm," Chen Wentian rubbed his chin.

They were interesting people. But that was all they were, somewhat interesting. They were useless in his eyes. Mei Qiaofeng was the new snake lord. He also had a better candidate for the future lion lord.

"Jin Niang's crime is too heavy. She betrayed the snake faction from the beginning and sullied her rightful husband, Zhuge Ming. Her son Jin Zenan bears equal responsibility. The child in her belly is also a product of her misdeeds." He sighed, "None of them can be allowed to live."

"But..." Qu Shen said, "What about the snake skin transformation art."

The last section of the prison had no guards. The walls were covered by spiritual inscriptions that made escape impossible. Nothing could even approach this section without raising all kinds of alarms.

Qu Shen deactivated a section of the protective arrays and the two men stepped through, into a circular chamber. In the middle was a disheveled, withered old man lying facedown on the stone floor. His four limbs were broken and pierced by multiple crimson feathers so he was unable to move. His breath was weak and his spiritual aura was even weaker. This was He Zicheng, the former lion lord.

But he wasn't alone. Next to him, surrounded by a white, box-like array of spiritual energy was He Xinghan. He was covered in burns from head to toe, a result of the battle over the city with Chen Wentian. He had been captured afterward and given no medical treatment. "Qu Shen!" He Xinghan roared as soon as he saw them. "Let us out! You can't do this! You have no right!"

His father, He Zicheng didn't even stir, already too weak and barely staying alive. He couldn't speak even if he wanted to. His spiritual energy was completely suppressed by Qu Shen's feathers.

"Qu Shen! Qu Shen!" He Xinghan slammed his fists against his prison but it was useless.

"What do you want to do with them?" Qu Shen asked Chen Wentian.

"Keep He Zicheng alive. Make sure he doesn't die. That is your most important task. Various powers have already heard about the changes taking place within the city. They will increase their spying operations to try and dig out the truth of the matter. Having He Zicheng stay alive will help mislead their prying eyes."

"Understood. And the other one?"

Chen Wentian looked at his own hand where a puff of blue flames appeared, "I'll take care of him now."

Qu Shen nodded and waved his arm, instantly dispelling the imprisonment array around He Xinghan.

He Xinghan was momentarily stunned at the change. He quickly came around and let out a furious roar. His body transformed into a golden half-man half-lion beast. He leaped into the air, preparing to attack.

Chen Wentian moved. He turned into a streak of blue flame and collided with He Xinghan in midair. His right hand, covered in dragon flames, collided with He Xinghan's chest and pierced through, turning his heart into ash along the way.

"You..." He Xinghan spouted a mouthful of blood.

His eyes widened in recognition of his killer. But it was too late to think, too late to regret. He was dead before they returned to the ground.

Chen Wentian patted He Xinghan's head, capturing the dying soul. He had no use for He Xinghan alive. But dead, his Spirit Lord Realm soul would serve as fuel to advance the soul of the ageless ice unicorn to the Spirit Lord Realm, letting Li Yuechan finally have a proper weapon.
