Immortal in Horror Game: She is the Fortune Teller!-Chapter 20: The Counterintelligence Strategy
Josh finally found a small building corridor and slipped inside.
At first, Qian Duobao didn’t pay much attention, thinking she went into the building to find a restroom. But after waiting for a while, he saw her silhouette reflected in the first-floor window, along with another person beside her.
He walked over curiously and was about to push the door open when he suddenly heard Zhu Yongchang’s voice from inside.
Zhu Yongchang said, "If there’s no other way, find an opportunity to kill Qian Duobao."
Outside, Qian Duobao was startled by this voice, then he quickly stopped and hid under the wall to listen in.
Josh’s voice sounded a bit troubled: "Isn’t this bad?"
Zhu Yongchang: "There are only four advancement spots. You’re obviously more useful than him. His arm is injured, he can’t fight; with him, our progress will slow down."
Josh: "He’s actually quite good. I just let him have the item."
Zhu Yongchang: "A useless person like him, what can he do with items in hand? He’s still incapable of doing anything."
Josh was still hesitant: "Let’s not, he’s actually quite useful. We shouldn’t kill people. Isn’t fair competition good?"
Zhu Yongchang’s voice was cold: "With fair competition against him, any one of us might be eliminated, but killing him perfectly fits our spots for the four of us to advance."
It took a while for Josh’s voice to come: "Let me think about it."
Qian Duobao heard footsteps and quickly ran away, returning to the original place.
Josh curled his lips, opened the window, and watched Qian Duobao’s back; only then did she knock over the clothes rack beside her.
There was no Zhu Yongchang at all; it was all her self-directed act.
Mouth Skill, a minor spell with no offensive power, her weak Spiritual Power could also sustain it.
She acted as though nothing happened, returning to Qian Duobao’s side. The two of them found bananas in a small shop to feed the little monkey.
Qian Duobao was preoccupied.
Zhu Yongchang always listened to Huang Bairen. Judging from his tone just now, the other three wanted to kick him out and take Josh to advance?
Among them, Josh had the most information and was surely the strongest.
They were clearly trying to win her over.
He couldn’t just wait to be killed.
Josh, being a woman, was more likely to soften; to survive the three of them, he had to defect and seek refuge with Josh.
"Josh!" Qian Duobao was a bit nervous: "I have something to say to you."
Josh feigned confusion: "What?"
Qian Duobao gritted his teeth: "Actually, we cooperated with you from the start to extract all your information, then kill you so the four of us could just meet the qualifications for advancement."
Josh was puzzled: "But with three items needed to upgrade, even if I died, you might not all survive as four people. Can you dodge Fuer’s animal show?"
Qian Duobao gritted his teeth; the reason for bringing her in was because they knew they couldn’t escape and feared they would die before the advancement, so they wanted to bring her in to kill him?
Qian Duobao deliberately said: "It’s really like that, believe me. I confessed because you let me have the equipment. I don’t want to watch you be duped to death by them!"
He felt some guilt, having just overheard Zhu Yongchang’s words about killing him, and now coming to confess to Josh—might she find it too deliberate?
Josh quickly showed a panicked expression: "What to do? Those three... how can they do this? Weren’t they supposed to take me..."
Halfway through speaking, she seemed to realize something was wrong, giving Qian Duobao a guilty glance.
Qian Duobao suddenly looked at her with determination: "The others are all unreliable. If they said they’d take you, it might not be true. They don’t really trust me now, and I don’t know what new tactics they have."
Josh blinked: "Then what to do?"
Qian Duobao looked at her: "Let’s stick together; I’ll protect you."
Josh smiled: "Alright."
The two agreed to cooperate and took bananas back to find the little monkey.
The little monkey seemed excited when it saw Josh approaching.
Josh found an excuse to send Qian Duobao away and squatted in front of the little monkey’s cage: "Shall I let you out?"
She took out the key given by Fuer: "I have this!"
The little monkey’s eyes lit up, but then it hesitated, holding onto her finger: "If we leave, the dolls will go crazy, and you’ll die."
Josh frowned: "You mean if you leave, the dolls will riot?"
The little monkey nodded.
She lowered her head in thought for a moment.
The little monkey said somewhat dejectedly: "No need, you go. No human would lose their life to save us."
Josh patted the little monkey’s head soothingly: "I’ll release you after I deal with the dolls. Don’t worry; I’ll keep my promise to you."
"Really?" The little monkey looked at her excitedly: "Don’t lie to me! Pinky promise!"
Josh extended her hand: "Pinky promise!" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

With the unlock of favorability, the little monkey spoke more.
It sighed: "Actually, we wouldn’t have ended up like this."
Josh knew this was a plot revelation, so she nodded earnestly, listening attentively.
The little monkey looked at the eyeball in its hand: "Do you know how this came to be?"
Josh shook her head, a trace of peculiar interest flickering in her eyes. Sure enough, this was the key clue.
The little monkey snorted, pride in its voice: "This is the eyeball of the person who captured me and trained me relentlessly. We actually resisted once when we were first caught, and that time, we almost succeeded."
The little monkey’s eyes held a nostalgic look: "We secretly opened the cage while Fuer was off guard once. I blinded a Beast Tamer’s eye, a lion bit off a Beast Tamer’s arm, and a leopard severed that person’s leg. The dolphins in the water also rioted, continuously emitting sharp sounds, making those worthless humans hold their heads, begging for mercy."
It grabbed Josh’s arm: "Do you know how satisfying it was to ruin those Beast Tamers’ bodies and see their heads split open! Those damned humans! They deserved it!"
The lion beside them also woke up, cursing humans as if it were its turn.
The lion sneered: "Aren’t humans such fragile, foolish creatures? Whether it’s speed, strength, or the use of claws and teeth, they can’t compare with us."
The little monkey’s eyes flashed with disgust: "Even if we’re willing to coexist peacefully, they’re never content, not only capturing us and imprisoning us in cages, forcing us to mimic their actions in performances, but also constantly hitting and scolding us, indulging in humiliation at any moment!"
The leopard elegantly licked its front paw: "The screams when we tore those fools’ thighs from their bodies, I still remember them now, so melodic."
