Chapter 23: Chapter 23: Finn Hawthorne, Take a Client

Chloe Sutton grinned at Cecilia Nathan and raised her eyebrows suggestively.

Everything was understood without a word.

Cecilia Nathan fell silent, her head suddenly starting to throb.

"Him... send him away. We don’t want him anymore." Chloe Sutton pointed a finger and waved dismissively at the handsome guy.

The man looked up, somewhat in disbelief.

Noticing his fingers clench into a fist, Cecilia Nathan said softly, "We’ll take him, then."

The man shuddered slightly.

He looked at Cecilia Nathan, his gaze wavering slightly.

Chloe Sutton smirked playfully and said to the man, "You’re it."

The other men shot him jealous glances.

Today, Cecilia Nathan wore a simple white maxi dress, her hair falling to her waist. She looked both innocent and elegant.

The clientele here consisted mostly of wealthy older women; it was rare to see someone so beautiful.

Just then, one of the other men spoke up. "Ma’am, he doesn’t take clients."

"He got that injury on his mouth for being defiant."

Cecilia Nathan’s gaze fell on the corner of the man’s mouth. It was black and blue and swollen, but because he was exceptionally good-looking, the injury didn’t mar his features in the slightest. In fact, it added a certain defiant melancholy to his appearance.

"He doesn’t?" Chloe Sutton raised an eyebrow, feigning disappointment, and said to her friend, "How about you pick someone else?"

"Cough, cough..."

’Injured for being defiant... Why does that sound so...’

Just as Cecilia Nathan was about to say "Forget it," the door was forcefully shoved open.

A middle-aged woman walked in, wearing coke-bottle glasses and sporting a tattoo on her neck.

She looked to be in her forties, heavyset and imposing, dressed in a white pantsuit. Her gaze was fierce, sweeping across the room with hostility.

When her eyes landed on the man in the corner, she stomped over, her high heels CLACK-CLACKING on the floor, raised her hand, and slapped him hard across the face.

"How dare you see another client! Didn’t I tell you that you could only accept my bookings?"

No one had expected such a scene.

The room went dead silent.

Except for Cecilia Nathan and Chloe Sutton, the other men seemed unfazed.

Cecilia Nathan glanced at her friend. "Didn’t you say this place was legitimate? Why does it seem so... shady..."

’"Taking clients"... "getting beaten for being disobedient"... It all sounded so strange.’

Chloe Sutton coughed and lowered her voice. "Even the most legitimate places can’t keep out the creeps."

"I hear a lot of messed-up women come here to let off steam. You know how it is... when men need to blow off steam, it’s always physical, but for women... it’s mostly emotional."

Cecilia Nathan’s mouth twitched.

’Clearly, this tattooed woman was here for some emotional release.’

"Get out here with me," the tattooed woman roared at the man.

The man didn’t move a muscle. He simply kept his gaze fixed on Cecilia Nathan.

Cecilia’s eye twitched. She hadn’t wanted to get involved, but she couldn’t quite tear her eyes away from his face.

’It wasn’t infatuation, it was curiosity.’

’To think someone who looked so much like him just happened to exist. If Damian Hawthorne ever found out someone with his face was working in a place like this...’

’Tsk, the thought alone was thrilling.’

"This lady has already picked me." After speaking, he walked over to Cecilia Nathan and sat down quietly beside her.

Cecilia Nathan: "..."

Just as expected, the tattooed woman shot a venomous glare at Cecilia Nathan, but her expression flickered when she got a good look at Cecilia’s face.

"Is it because she’s prettier than me? Finn Hawthorne, are you sure you’re choosing her and not me?"

Hearing the name "Finn Hawthorne," Cecilia Nathan couldn’t hold it in and let out a snort of laughter.

’This place really knows how to capitalize on what’s trending.’

’They knew he looked like Damian Hawthorne, so they gave him a similar-sounding name.’

"What are you laughing at, you bitch?" The tattooed woman looked Cecilia Nathan up and down, then glanced at Chloe Sutton beside her, her brow furrowing warily.

She’d already seen the lineup of men when she walked in.

This was a level of service the average person couldn’t possibly afford.

Her family wasn’t badly off; their company was one of the top enterprises in Korsyth. But Korsyth was full of powerful people and wagging tongues, and she didn’t want to needlessly make enemies.

Cecilia Nathan watched the woman brazenly sizing her up but didn’t retort. Just as she was about to pick up the cup in front of her, Finn Hawthorne astutely picked it up and offered it to her lips.

Cecilia Nathan leaned back slightly, glanced at the cup, and took it awkwardly. "Thank you."

The gesture infuriated the tattooed woman.

She came here every day and had tried every trick in the book to "monopolize" Finn Hawthorne, but he remained completely unresponsive.

Even when she paid to be able to hit him, Finn Hawthorne was completely unfazed.

Ever since Finn Hawthorne started working here, he’d been unwilling to sing with the clients. But in this line of work, you had to obey the manager. Finn’s family was poor, he had no powerful connections, and he desperately needed the money, so he had no choice but to be placed here.

What she prized was Finn’s current "purity" and his untamable, aloof pride.

And yet today, Finn Hawthorne had actually served someone tea of his own accord.

"Finn Hawthorne, you’re coming with me right now! Sorry, Miss. I’ve claimed Finn Hawthorne, so I’ll be taking him now." Without waiting for Cecilia Nathan to reply, the tattooed woman lunged and grabbed Finn Hawthorne’s arm.

Finn Hawthorne reached out and pried her fingers off. "I’m sorry, Miss Sinclair, but I’m on the clock right now. Please don’t interrupt my work."

When he was done, he looked up, his gaze falling upon Cecilia Nathan.

He acted as if he were terrified Cecilia Nathan would send him away.

"Miss Sinclair, I just hired him, so I should be the one he’s serving right now." Cecilia Nathan spoke, her voice calm and even, showing no emotion. "If you want him to serve you, you’ll have to at least wait until my time is up."

Just as the tattooed woman was about to say something, Chloe Sutton opened the door, and security came in.

"Miss Sinclair, we’ve received a complaint that you’re causing a disturbance. Please abide by our KTV’s rules and do not disturb other guests."

"What disturbance? I’m a VIP here! Get your manager! Does he not want my business anymore?" The tattooed woman was fuming.

Chloe Sutton was getting angry now, too.

"So what if you’re a VIP? I’m a VVIP. Ma’am, please get out. This is the room we booked. If you can’t afford it, stop freeloading off our AC, okay?" At Chloe Sutton’s words, the tattooed woman grew even more furious.

But she knew the rules here, so she had no choice but to be escorted out, fuming all the while.

Cecilia Nathan took a deep breath and looked at Finn Hawthorne. "I hope that didn’t cause you any trouble."

A slight smile touched Finn Hawthorne’s lips. "Thank you, Miss Cecilia Nathan."

Cecilia Nathan asked in surprise, "You know me?"

"I’ve seen you in the news online."

Cecilia Nathan laughed awkwardly.

’The news about her online was never good news.’

"Everyone says I look like the eldest young master of the Hawthorne Family, Damian Hawthorne." Finn Hawthorne’s words instantly tensed the atmosphere in the room. "Miss Cecilia Nathan, you’re familiar with Mr. Hawthorne. Do you think I look like him?"

Cecilia Nathan, who had just taken a sip of water, choked and started coughing.

"I... I suppose you do."

Finn Hawthorne patted her on the back to help her catch her breath. "I hear Miss Cecilia Nathan likes him a lot."

Cecilia Nathan’s breath caught in her throat.

Although the fact that she liked Damian Hawthorne was common knowledge, for even someone working in a place like this to know... Cecilia Nathan’s mouth twitched, and she nearly lost her composure.

But what Finn Hawthorne said next shattered her composure completely.

"If Miss Cecilia Nathan doesn’t mind, you can think of me as Mr. Hawthorne."
