Ignored When Chasing: Why Cry After I Got Engaged-Chapter 202: Telling All
’Panicked...’
Damian Hawthorne’s lips curved into a cold sneer.
’Panicked over Miles Sinclair, without a single thought for whether I lived or died.’
"You care about Miles Sinclair, but you don’t care about our Damian?" Frances Bennett looked at Cecilia Nathan, disappointed. "I used to think you liked Damian, and I even thought about trying to get you two back together. I never imagined you’d move on so quickly... Cecilia, you loved Damian so much back then. Have you forgotten all of it? I really never thought you would change this much. You’re so heartless, it’s like you’ve become a different person..."
"That’s enough. I want to get some rest." Damian Hawthorne rubbed the bridge of his nose, his face a mask of indifference.
Seeing Damian Hawthorne’s exhausted expression, Cecilia Nathan’s heart clenched.
’She remembered Damian had said he wanted to pursue her again.’
’But now, there was no going back for them.’
At this thought, Cecilia Nathan felt a tearing pain in her chest.
Logically, leaving Damian Hawthorne should have been for the best for both of them. But for some reason, it felt as if an invisible string was tugging at her heart, causing a pain she couldn’t control.
"Damian Hawthorne, you... take care of yourself."
After mulling it over for a long time, that was the only sentence she could manage.
Damian Hawthorne lifted his eyelids and gave her a bored, listless glance, his eyes devoid of any emotion.
’Frances Bennett was right.’
’The Cecilia Nathan of today was so heartless, it was like she’d become a different person.’ 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
’Sometimes he even wondered if the Cecilia Nathan who had pursued him so fiercely back then had ever existed at all.’
Even now, some outsiders still thought he was the one Cecilia Nathan truly loved.
After all, plenty of people liked him, but the only one willing to give her life for him had been Cecilia Nathan.
Just then, a voice cut in, "Cecilia Nathan!"
The voice was clear and hurried.
Serena Hughes strode over.
"Cecilia Nathan, I have something urgent to tell you." After speaking, Serena Hughes subconsciously glanced to the side.
When she saw Frances Bennett and Damian Hawthorne, her voice died in her throat.
"What is it?"
Seeing Serena Hughes again, Cecilia Nathan felt no particular emotion.
’After all, the Serena Hughes of today was much more docile.’
’Once her mind was off Damian Hawthorne, she stopped trying to make trouble for me.’
’Perhaps she had learned of my identity as the young lady of the Nathan Family and had known to back off.’
Cecilia didn’t dwell on the past. After all, having one less enemy was certainly better than having one more.
Serena Hughes had wanted to tell her about Caleb Kramer being kidnapped, but with Damian Hawthorne right there, she was so nervous that her lips trembled, unable to form a single word.
’She was... very afraid of Damian Hawthorne now.’
’Damian Hawthorne had interrogated her more than once about May Rhodes.’
’In the past, she might have spilled everything, but now that she knew May Rhodes’s true identity, how could she dare say a thing?’
"Um... Cecilia Nathan, how about we... talk somewhere else?"
Even though Quinn Sutton had no connection to Damian Hawthorne, she still didn’t want to appear too close to Cecilia Nathan in front of him.
Serena Hughes’s voice was neither loud nor soft, so of course Damian Hawthorne could hear her.
He let out a cold laugh and said to Frances Bennett, "Close the door."
Seeing that Damian Hawthorne wasn’t curious, Cecilia Nathan paused for a few seconds before saying to Serena Hughes, "Come with me."
Serena Hughes watched Cecilia Nathan walk toward another hospital room, her expression puzzled.
When she looked again, she realized it was Miles Sinclair’s room.
At that moment, Miles Sinclair was still asleep, as if the outside world had nothing to do with him.
Serena Hughes flinched instinctively upon seeing Miles Sinclair.
She wanted to suggest moving to yet another location, but she was afraid Cecilia Nathan would think she was being difficult.
’But with Miles Sinclair here... can I really talk?’
Serena Hughes nervously observed Miles Sinclair for a few seconds and saw that he was indeed asleep.
"Go ahead," Cecilia Nathan said softly, noticing Serena Hughes glancing around. "Miles Sinclair is still unconscious."
"He’s really asleep?" Serena Hughes whispered, leaning closer to Cecilia Nathan. "This is about Quinn Sutton. I’m afraid... Miles Sinclair might hear."
’Quinn Sutton...’
Cecilia Nathan narrowed her eyes.
She turned to look at Miles Sinclair, lost in thought.
’In truth, she had always been suspicious about the relationship between Miles Sinclair and Quinn Sutton.’
’It seemed Serena Hughes knew something.’
"If you don’t want to talk here, we can go somewhere else..."
"Forget it." Serena Hughes looked anxious. "You need to be on guard about what I’m going to tell you. That Quinn Sutton, she definitely has a very... subtle relationship with Miles Sinclair. I’m even starting to think the baby in her belly is probably..."
"Cecilia, I know I didn’t like you before, but I hold no ill will toward you now. Today, I followed Quinn Sutton somewhere. It looked like she was working with someone to kidnap a person. I don’t know if you know him, but his name is Caleb Kramer."
’Caleb Kramer...’
Cecilia Nathan frowned.
"I don’t know why Quinn Sutton is keeping Caleb Kramer trapped in that place, but it looks like he’s suffered a lot. Cecilia, if you have any sense, you’ll stay far away from Miles Sinclair."
"Even if you don’t get back together with Damian Hawthorne, you absolutely must not be with Miles Sinclair."
Serena Hughes spoke each word with sincerity and earnestness.
Cecilia Nathan was silent.
She never expected that Serena Hughes would one day give her such a sincere warning.
In fact, it wasn’t just Serena Hughes; many people had already advised her to think things through carefully.
’In my heart, Miles Sinclair had died long ago. But now, he was alive again.’
’If this were the past, with so many people trying to dissuade me, I definitely would have considered their words carefully.’
’But now, I can’t.’
’Miles Sinclair is alive.’
’And he was injured because of me.’
’I have no other choice.’
"Thank you, Serena Hughes, but I’ve already promised Miles Sinclair. I’m going to marry him."
