Idol Revive: If I Don't Debut, I'll Disappear-Chapter 337: Incident Report
[Incident Report
After the Mass Cleansing, I, together with L-163, the Minstrels, and three other Entities, went to celebrate the successful event before the incident.
During the celebration, L-163 asked Minstrel Adrian to help get drinks, and the two went together with Entity Hyeon Jilseo. According to L-163's confession, he tampered with the drinks while the two weren't paying attention to make everyone fall unconscious and take away the Minstrel's devices.
Entity Son Areum, for some reason did not drink her beverage and kept her consciousness. From L-163's later statements, he and Entity Son Areum had not conspired together. However, with her help, L-163 was able to take the devices elsewhere successfully.
While L-163 proceeded to hide the devices, Entity Son Areum woke us up unbeknownst to L-163. This action led to us discovering the missing devices early and tracking L-163 to Gyeongwon Affiliated High School.
Upon locating L-163, we immediately confronted him. But as we did so, Entity Son Areum proceeded in finding the devices. When she was able to locate it, she intentionally dropped Minstrel Rayen's device.
After Entity Son Areum dropped Minstrel Rayen's device, he immediately fell unconscious. For some unknown reason, the other Minstrels also lost consciousness, reverting to their seed form before getting sucked into Minstrel Rayen's device.
In the midst of confusion, Entity Yoo Gyeo moved. Before we could even register what happened, Entity Yoo Gyeo crushed his own petal, leading to his disappearance. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Immediately, I acted to capture the perpetrators of the incident with the help of Entity Gil. Upon capture, we interrogated L-163 and Entity Son Areum, but the latter refused to cooperate.
From what we gathered during the interrogation, here's L-163 Motives:
1. He intends to sabotage the incoming scheduled cleansing by taking the Minstrel's device and hiding it, thinking that the Minstrels' devices are the key to their abilities just like the Entities.
2. He further stressed that he didn't have any plans to destroy the device, nor did he have any idea that destroying it would lead to the following consequences.
3. By sabotaging the cleansing, he wants to send a message to the Overseers: "Patching up an error with a treatment that could be taken away at any time is a grave mistake."
Report Submitted by S-4213]
Clandestine slammed the report on the table.
'How brazen.'
Wanted to send the Overseers a message? Clandestine wanted to laugh.
'S-4213, what a good writer you are.'
L-163 didn't know of the consequences of destroying the phones?
Of course, that matter was immediately covered up by her and Plotter before it could even spread. No one else aside from her, Plotter, and the Minstrels, who were part of the first incident, had knowledge of it.
Yet, even then, another similar incident happened.
That Plotter! Why did he have to store the seeds inside such a fragile device? And now, he wasn't even here to deal with this!
Aside from that, Clandestine fumed over L-163's motives S-4213 listed in the report. By listing these, she had highlighted the things that L-163 wasn't aware of, successfully making light of his intent in hopes of reducing L-163's punishment. And she even brilliantly laid all the blame on the other perpetrator.
She really deserved to be called a Scribe.
'Why don't I suggest she replace Siel, then?'
Clandestine scoffed inwardly.
In the midst of anger, she stared at one of the perpetrators in this written incident report — Son Areum.
The smiling Son Areum on the opposite end of the table stared back at her. As for what she was thinking, Clandestine had no idea at all.
So, instead of guessing, she just decided to ask.
Lazily against her chair, she opened her mouth. "Son Areum, if I remember, aren't you also among the Entities who supported the Minstrel's program?"
Son Areum remained smiling. "That's right. I spent quite a fortune. Unfortunately, the candidate that I chose didn't get to debut."
Her words elicited a frown in Clandestine's brows.
'Did she just tell me her motives?'
"Is that why you helped L-163 and destroyed Minstrel Rayen's device?"
Son Areum chuckled. "You're so smart, Overseer! You guessed my intention so fast!"
With her bound arms, she flashed Clandestine a big, fat thumbs up.
The corners of Clandestine's mouth twitched.
"How did you guess that the member that I don't like the most was Rayen?" Son Areum continued.
"....."
'I did not say anything of the sort.'
"Actually, most of us hate him. Although we also don't like the other members, we hate Rayen the most. Do you know why we hate him?"
Clandestine was quick to catch on to one detail. She ignored Son Areum's question and directly returned it to her.
"Us?"
"Yes, us," Son Areum stressed. "Do you not know it?"
'Would I even be asking if I know?'
This whole conversation was exhausting.
Seeing that Clandestine did not intend to respond, Son Areum clicked her tongue. "You're this agency's director now, so you should be aware of these things. We're what you call anti-fans."
Clandestine glowered at her words.
'Anti-fans?'
"We're people who're greatly disappointed with the current line-up, Overseer. We spent so much time rooting for a candidate to debut, but in the end, they were all eliminated, leaving those who are undeserving of the spot," Son Areum explained.
Her words darkened Clandestine's face more. The rigging incident came back to her mind.
"But Overseer..." Son Areum spoke again, getting Clandestine's attention once more.
"What?"
"I'm still a good and kind Entity. I didn't wish for those things to happen. I just believed what Miles said about the Minstrel's devices, so I thought destroying them would just ruin their performances."
Clandestine's mouth twitched. "Do you think I'll believe any of your words?"
"I'm telling the truth, Overseer. I really wasn't aware that would happen!" Son Areum insisted with a smile.
'Tell that to your Mom.'
Clandestine wanted to say that but did not speak further. She just listened to Son Areum blabber with a slowly thinning patience.
"What really happened to Rayen? Why did he fall unconscious when I broke his phone?"
Finally, Clandestine had had enough. After understanding Son Areum's motives, she stood up from her seat and left the interrogation room amidst Son Areum's blabbering. If she remained there, her head would definitely explode from stress.
Once she was out, she breathed a sigh of relief.
What's next was to compile the things she learned and write another report intended for the World Immortal. Then, the Immortal would be the one to rack her brain in coming up with the punishment for both L-163 and Son Areum.
For now, she was tired. The plethora of work that Plotter left behind for her had deeply exhausted her. And yet, she still had to do one more thing.
And that was to visit the unconscious.
Clandestine walked to the 3rd floor where the Agency's infirmary was located, and where Rayen was residing.
When she entered the room, she was greeted by five people: Sophie, Harjun, Beatrice, Yuzuka, and Zi Xu. Except for Miles, all of Rayen's sponsors were here. Their gazes were all focused on a single point — at the bed, where Rayen was deep asleep.
He had been this way since last night.
"Overseer, you're here..." Sophie greeted as she noticed Clandestine.
Clandestine nodded in response before shifting her gaze to Yuzuka.
Yuzuka bowed her head, avoiding looking directly in her eyes. That put a smile on Clandestine's face.
'At least, you know that you did something shady.'
With that, she finally let her gaze wander toward Rayen.
"How's he?"
Sophie shook her head. "Still no response."
Well, that was to be expected.
Actually, it was even a miracle that Rayen was still here. He should have thoroughly disappeared, instead of falling unconscious.
When his phone broke, his soul should have been destroyed. Even from the Entities' eyes, including Clandestine's, Rayen's soul that was visible in his chest was littered with cracks. Yet, he didn't disappear.
It was probably Plotter's doing.
Still, Clandestine held no hope for Rayen to wake up.
'But how can he still hold on despite this?'
Clandestine wondered while sighing in dismay.
It would have been fine if only Rayen were like this, but unfortunately, his other teammates had also fallen into an unfortunate situation.
No one knew what exactly happened to them.
Right now, she just wanted to grab Rayen and shake him hard until he woke up to know the truth.
But she should refrain herself with all the people in here. And to suppress the urges deep inside her, she decided to just leave the room and go back home. After all, it didn't matter where she had to wait. She could still do it from the comfort of her home.
Just as she turned her back from the bed and was about to step a foot forward, an exclamation reverberated in the whole room.
"Rayen?"
Clandestine halted her steps as the Entities in the room all scrambled toward the bed. She turned back.
And there, Rayen had opened his eyes.
