Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies-Chapter 1234: Everyone’s Codenames
Chapter 1234: Everyone's Codenames
Zhang Yi dipped his finger in his tea and wrote a "7" on the coffee table.
"As agreed, I should give you half of the share, which is 5%. Now I'm raising it to 7%. That extra 2% is more than enough to dramatically boost your productivity!"
The Elemental Stone vein under the Qinling contained enormous reserves. Even a mere 2% would be enough to support all of Blizzard City for decades.
And what they needed were just some conventional firearms made from basic materials.
Zhu Zheng was ecstatic.
For them, munitions alone were not hugely valuable.
Only Zhang Yi, who needed to deal with superhumans like Li Changgong, required massive amounts of weapons to use his extremely draining skill, King of War.
So he needed a huge supply of weapons.
The two men came to an immediate agreement; the deal had no problem at all.
But Zhu Zheng still wanted more. People who get a bargain always try to push further, and Zhu Zheng rubbed his hands together.
"Giving an extra 2% is indeed generous, but you hold over twenty percent of the Elemental Stone vein—surely you can’t use it all yourself? How about we trade for more stuff?" 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Zhang Yi smiled inscrutably and said to Zhu Zheng, "Don't be greedy. Our business isn't a one-off deal. If you have anything valuable in the future, we can trade again."
"And those Elemental Stones will be useful to me."
Zhang Yi left the door open to possibilities.
He had already promised Deng Technology five percent, plus the seven percent to Zhu Zheng, leaving him with eighteen percent of the Elemental Stone vein.
As Zhu Zheng had said, even if Zhang Yi installed central heating across all of Tianhai City, he would still have surplus energy.
But Zhang Yi was in the habit of hoarding supplies for unexpected needs.
Also, the mechs Lu Keran planned to build would demand massive energy.
Zhu Zheng persisted, but Zhang Yi held firm, so Zhu Zheng reluctantly nodded and agreed.
Afterward, Zhang Yi reminded Zhu Zheng to prepare some manpower.
When the time came to go to the Qinling Mountains to mine, they would need to supply their own personnel.
Zhu Zheng nodded, "That's easily handled. Blizzard City isn't short on people. But what about Tianhai City?"
Zhang Yi replied, "We can transfer a few over, but we can't spare miners. You’ll need to send yours."
"Fine, I'll handle it."
After finishing these matters with Zhu Zheng, Zhang Yi didn't plan to linger in Blizzard City.
He was eager to return because his Dimensional Space contained something he cared about most:
the purple crystal he had collected from the enigmatic purple pyramid in the mysterious world.
As for the Deng family, Zhang Yi did not make any formal greetings. Instead, he had privately reached an understanding with Deng Yuanbo.
Once the Elemental Stone vein shipments arrived, Zhang Yi would quietly send them part of their share using his spatial ability.
Zhang Yi and Zhu Zheng walked out from the back lounge.
They saw Fatty Xu not sitting at the dining table, but in a secluded corner staring silently at the falling snow outside the window.
From time to time he sighed, murmuring some lines, "From ancient times, passion leaves only lingering regret, this sorrow stretches on without end."
During this, Lan Xincheng gestured to him, asking if he wanted to rest on the second floor first.
Recently Blizzard City had trained some new girls to form a song-and-dance troupe that could perform for Fatty Xu.
But Fatty Xu shook his head in silence and refused.
Even Lan Xincheng was surprised, wondering how Fatty Xu had suddenly changed.
Zhang Yi understood: Fatty Xu still couldn't forget Li Yangyang, but matters of the heart could only be eroded by time; others couldn't interfere.
After the meal, Zhang Yi said he wanted to leave.
Zhu Zheng, however, gathered people and said to Zhang Yi, "Since you're already here, let's take care of another matter."
It turned out many of Zhang Yi's people had participated in this formal campaign.
But people like Liang Yue had no official military codenames, which would be inconvenient for future operations.
So Zhu Zheng intended to formally register them and assign military codenames under the Huaxu Kingdom's forces.
"That'll give them real status," Zhang Yi joked.
He called Liang Yue and the others over; these were mainly combat personnel who needed official codenames.
As for Yang Xinxin and the others, they had been hiding in Jingwei's Shadow Space and had not directly participated in front-line combat, so they were not eager for codenames.
There were still plenty of codenames available in the database.
After everyone selected and discussed, each person confirmed their own codename.
Chunlei took the codename Marshal Tianpeng, a name that matched him perfectly.
When confirming that codename, Fatty Xu looked dreamy, murmuring again, "From ancient times, passion leaves only lingering regret, this sorrow stretches on without end."
Everyone almost laughed.
You Jiguang chose the codename Lu Wu, a ferocious beast from ancient myth as powerful as a tiger.
Liang Yue chose the codename Nine Heavens Mysterious Maiden, a valkyrie-like war goddess from ancient myth.
Even Hua Hua, because of her extraordinary performance on the battlefield, caught the attention of several war zones.
She received her own mythic codename, Qiongqi.
Zhang Yi lifted her up and gently rubbed her head with a smile.
In ancient western myths there were four ferocious beasts: Hundun, Taotie, Qiongqi, and Taowu.
Qiongqi and Hundun were both western ferocious beasts, so the pair of codenames for man and cat felt very fitting.
Taotie's title belonged to Demon Squad captain Lu Huang.
Only Taowu remained unused.
With all combat personnel assigned codenames, they were officially registered members from then on.
Then Zhang Yi gathered his group, declined Zhu Zheng's hospitality, and left Blizzard City for Tianhai City.
...
Soon, Zhang Yi and his team returned to Tianhai City.
This trip was short but everyone was in high spirits.
After all, the mission involved some risk, but it was not overwhelming.
The fighters had gained experience and benefits from the battle, while the non-combatants had enjoyed the splendid scenery of the Northern Regions and were in good moods.
Back at the Shelter, the snow outside had piled over a meter deep since nobody had been cleaning.
Fatty Xu walked over and used his Blizzard ability to blow away the thick snow around the Shelter, revealing the huge square in front of the door.
Zhang Yi stepped down from the vehicle and used iris recognition, fingerprint, and password triple security to open the gate.
Once inside, everyone excitedly discarded their heavy coats on the floor and collapsed onto the sofa and the thick blankets.
"Wow! We're finally back!"
"After wandering around, it still feels best to be home!"
"This couch is so comfortable."
Zhang Yi went to his room to change into casual clothes, then returned to the living room and leisurely sat on the sofa to watch TV.
There were, of course, no new TV shows, but the electronic system stored a vast archive of past programs—enough to never run out for a lifetime.
Zhang Yi preferred to rewatch classic films and series; every viewing brought a different flavor.
The group lay slumped all over the sofas, and Zhang Yi went to pour himself a cup of coffee milk tea.
Sitting by the huge floor-to-ceiling window, outside the north wind howled and snow fell, while the room was warm and cozy, the fireplace at the wall roaring with glowing coals.
Family and friends gathered together, enjoying this moment of leisure and warmth—this feeling of simple, utter happiness.
