I won't fall for the queen who burned my world-Chapter 330: A great massage
Sarisa, at first alarmed, stared at the scene in wonder. "It’s... actually quite beautiful."
The words seemed to linger in the steam-drenched air, echoing off the shimmering cavern walls.
The otherworldly fire still danced atop the surface of the spa pool, casting violet and gold reflections on the ancient stone and the gleaming obsidian.
For a moment, all four women Elysia, Veylira, Raveth, and Sarisa were utterly still, watching Kaelith’s magic burn, fierce and proud, yet somehow not destructive, only transforming the atmosphere with its wild beauty.
Elysia felt something in her heart loosen, the day’s tension replaced by a sweet ache. How many times had she tried to keep Kaelith’s fire in check, to protect her from her own power?
And yet here, in this strange demonic sanctuary, that same fire seemed almost right.
Even the demon attendants having dashed to and fro with fire-dampening crystals paused at the pool’s edge, marveling as the flames finally began to subside, their enchanted oils burned to fragrant vapor.
Veylira turned to one, her smile sly and knowing. "You see, in our house, chaos is considered an art form. Don’t worry—she’ll grow out of this stage in... oh, twenty years or so."
The demon, bowing, only dared a small smile. "We will speak of it for generations, Your Grace."
Raveth, towel wrapped around her head, gave Kaelith a lazy salute. "I think you just invented a new spa treatment. We’ll call it The Queen’s Blaze."
Kaelith, of course, was delighted. She spun in place on the slick tile, arms wide. "Pretty fire! Kaelith do!" She seemed to consider another magical demonstration, but Elysia swept her up, planting a firm kiss on her cheek.
"No more fire for today, my love," Elysia whispered, her voice gentle but firm. Kaelith wriggled but relented, her mischief already shifting to curiosity for whatever might come next.
"Come on," Veylira said, gathering the party with a regal wave. "Let’s move on before she burns down the rest of the spa. It’s time for the real reason we came—massages. Raveth, if you snore, I’ll turn your hair blue."
Raveth only yawned, clearly looking forward to the chance.
Their attendants led them through a winding hallway inlaid with shimmering mother-of-pearl and lit by enchanted crystals.
Every step echoed softly, and the air grew warmer, thick with the scent of amber and jasmine.
Along the walls, ancient murals showed demons at rest, curling around one another in pools of water and beds of moss.
Elysia glanced at them, seeing something eternal in the languor of their poses—a softness she rarely associated with Malvoria’s people, but which, here, was tangible.
The massage room itself was a wonder: high-ceilinged, round, with a skylight that let in sunlight filtered through living vines.
Water trickled from hidden fountains, weaving gentle music through the hush.
Four low massage tables were set in a circle, draped in robes of deep violet and silver thread. In the center, a basin of glowing stones radiated gentle warmth. The attendants greeted them with small bows, their horns gleaming with oil.
Elysia helped Kaelith into a miniature robe deep crimson, lined with soft fur, the phoenix emblem stitched at the breast.
Kaelith padded across the polished floor, eyes huge as she took in the strange beauty of the room.
For now, she was quiet, perhaps awed by the soft light and the murmured promises of "warm stones" and "gentle hands."
As the women settled onto their tables, the attendants began their work. Warm oil, tinged with some demonic herb, slicked across Elysia’s back.
The massage was magic, in more ways than one—she could feel her muscles loosening, her mind slipping into a rare, drowsy haze. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Across from her, Sarisa melted beneath the skilled hands of a horned masseuse. Even Raveth seemed to be purring, her usual edge blunted by pleasure.
Veylira, of course, was in her element.
"See, Elysia? The demonic arts aren’t only about fire and fury. Sometimes, they’re about giving in. You’d be amazed how many wars were avoided by a long soak and a decent rubdown."
Elysia managed a smile, eyes half-lidded. "You might be right. I haven’t felt this relaxed in months."
From her little bed, Kaelith made soft, contented noises, a smile tugging at her lips. One of the attendants pressed tiny, heated stones along her back, humming an ancient lullaby.
Elysia, watching her daughter’s wild hair fall in damp curls over her cheek, felt her own heart ease further.
For a while, everything was perfect. Gentle music, expert hands, warmth, and the rare peace that comes from knowing one is cared for.
But Kaelith was still Kaelith.
First, she began to wiggle, just a little a soft roll from side to side, as if testing the boundaries of stillness.
Then, as the attendant reached for a fresh towel, Kaelith peeked over the edge of her bed. Her eyes found the bowl of glowing stones, and her face brightened with curiosity.
Elysia watched, eyes widening in silent alarm, as Kaelith scooted forward on her belly, inching closer to the bowl.
The attendant, mid-massage, was too slow; in a blink, Kaelith had snatched a handful of the stones and was stacking them on her pillow, whispering a song under her breath.
"Kaelith..." Elysia warned, her voice low.
Kaelith grinned, unrepentant. She tapped the stones together, delighted by the tinkling sound, then tried to juggle them.
One rolled away and bounced off Raveth’s table, startling her from her stupor.
"Oi! That’s my foot!" Raveth growled, though her lips twitched with amusement.
The attendant moved to retrieve the stones, but Kaelith, emboldened by the commotion, tossed another at Veylira, who caught it easily.
"Resourceful," Veylira declared, twirling the stone between her fingers. "Perhaps we should consider circus training for her after all."
Kaelith, encouraged, began stacking the rest into a pyramid. When one tumbled, she let out a mournful wail—so pitiful that even Sarisa, who was at last dozing, roused herself to comfort her.
"It’s all right, Kaelith. Here, let’s build it together." Sarisa, still half-blissed out from her massage, guided Kaelith’s small hands to create a tiny, glowing tower.
Elysia shook her head, smiling helplessly. It was impossible to keep Kaelith still for more than five minutes—even in the most luxurious spa in the demon realm.
The attendants, now thoroughly entertained, brought over a tray of honeyed fruit. Kaelith, distracted, cheered up immediately, popping bright orange berries into her mouth and offering sticky handfuls to Elysia and Veylira.
The mess was immediate, and laughter rippled through the room as Kaelith managed to smear juice not only on her own cheeks, but across the white sheets and even onto Raveth’s forehead.
"I surrender," Raveth said, holding up her hands. "Let the Queen’s heir do as she will."
At last, as the massage drew to a close, Elysia felt as though she’d shed a year’s worth of burdens. Her skin tingled with heat and magic; her heart, though tired, was light.
Sarisa, cheeks flushed and eyes bright, pulled her robe tighter around her. "This was a wonderful idea, Veylira. Even with Kaelith’s... unique contributions."
Veylira stretched, feline and content, and reached over to tousle Kaelith’s hair. "She keeps things interesting. You should have seen Malvoria at her age—worse, if you can believe it."
Elysia found that hard to imagine, but then again, Kaelith’s wildness was a kind of inheritance.
As they gathered their things, Kaelith managed one last bit of chaos: she swiped a handful of massage oil and, with the gravity of a high priestess, rubbed it into her hair.
The effect was instant: her curls stood on end, shimmering with oil and magic, making her look even more wild and ungovernable.
Elysia stared, torn between horror and hilarity. Sarisa tried to dab at Kaelith’s hair with a towel, but it was too late—the effect was permanent, at least for the day.
Raveth burst out laughing. "She’s ready for her birthday portrait!"
Veylira only shook her head, a smile twisting at her lips. "I’m wondering," she drawled, "how it’s going for Lara right now?"
