Chapter 44. Treasure Chest (Too Bad?)

Inside the treasure chest was an anti-paralyze potion. I’m not disappointed.

Even though it’s called a treasure chest, cases containing big items such as weapons are rarer.

In super rare cases, items called skill scrolls and seeds can come out of treasure chests.

Skill scrolls come in various types, such as [Trap Detection] scrolls, [Fire Bolt] scrolls, etc., and are extraordinary items that allow us to acquire skills.

There are 4 types of seeds, such as a seed for strength and a seed for endurance. When eaten, it will permanently increase the corresponding ability value by one point, which is also a tremendous item.

The probability of appearance is astronomically low, and if we auctioned it off, they are said to fetch a price that is completely unaffordable for us at this point in our lives.

Naturally, we have never seen either of these items.

Such an item is a dream come true.

Let’s return to reality.

The anti-paralyze potion we bought at the armory is not something we can’t have too many of as insurance.

If you buy them at an armorer store, they cost 5,000 yen a bottle.

The paralysis-eliminating potion I got is stored in Kodachi-san’s [Item Box].

The treasure chest disappeared in a black haze.

Yuzuki, who was watching the series of treasure chest opening operations, murmured.

“But even if there are traps in the treasure chest, Kazane-san will disarm them, so it’s meaningless. It seems a bit tasteless.”

“Well, if you want, Hotaru-chan, you can open it before I use [Trap Detection]. I think it will taste different. Arrows will fly, poison needles will fly, and it will explode, etc.”

“Excuse me! Kazane-daisensei, please continue [Trap Detection]. I look forward to working with you!”

Yuzuki bent 90 degrees at the waist and apologized profusely to Kodachi-san.

She’s still behaving amusingly.

Kodachi-san, on the other hand, was smiling at her.

Kodachi-san’s smile sometimes scares me.

As an aside, it seems that there are several types of traps in the treasure chest.

Most of the traps we encountered on the cave floor were of the [Crossbow Bolt] type.

This type of trap fires an arrow at the person who opens the treasure chest, damaging us but having no further effect.

On the other hand, a troublesome trap we rarely encounter on the cave floor is the [Explosion].

The moment a treasure chest is opened, the chest explodes, damaging the person who opened it and simultaneously causing the chest’s contents to disappear.

If that were to happen, I would fall asleep from the shock.

In addition, we’ll get two more types of traps to the treasure chest traps encountered in the forest layer: poison needles and [paralyze needles.

The small needles will pop out and inflicts bad status of poison or paralysis on the person who opens the box.

The trap that Kodachi-san just disarmed was a poison needle.

If there’s no [Trap Release], we’d get poisoned by the …… trap, and if what is in it is a potion that cures paralysis, it would be very annoying.

By the way, the poison lasts for about 8 hours, during which time you will continue to take poison damage.

If you don’t have an antidote potion or anti-poison magic. It can be fatal for you.

And about the treasure chests──

“By the way, I saw [Treasure Chest Drop Rate X2] on the skill list. I haven’t gotten it yet.”

“Oh, Musou-san, too? I still want that. It’s not like I can defeat all the enemies.”

“That’s right. It’s directly linked to our income. But honestly, I’m at a loss because there are too many skills I want to acquire.”

When I reached level 11. The skill list that I could acquire was considerably get expanded.

Specifically, it looks like this.

Skills that can be acquired (all can be acquired with 1 skill point)

Weapons

? Spear Attack Power Up (+10)

Magic

(None)

General

?Strength Up (+1)

?Durability Up (+1)

?Agility Up (+1)

?Magic Power Up (+1)

?HP Up (Endurance x5)

?MP Up (Magic x5)

?Stealth

?Presence Detection

?Item Box

?Treasure Chest Drop Rate X2

At level 11l, I can acquire five new skills: [Spear Attack Power Up (+10)], [Gaia Heal], [HP Up (Endurance x 5)], [MP Up (Magic x5)], and [Treasure Chest Drop Rate X2].

Of these, [Gaia Heal] has already disappeared from the list of learnable skills, since it was the first skill I acquired using skill points at level 11.

[Gaia Heal] is an enhanced version of the healing magic [Earth Heal].

It consumes 8 MP points, twice as powerful as [Earth Heal], but it has another important special effect in addition to its large amount of recovery.

I already acquired [Gaia Heal], so 4 new skills are remaining I can acquire.

Of these, [Spear Attack Power Up (+10)], [HP Up (Endurance x 5)], and [MP Up (Magic x 5)] are skills that steadily increase combat power, so they are skills I would like to acquire if I can afford them.

The enemies are getting stronger as we enter the forest floor, and we’ll continue to descend through the floors.

In addition to that, there is the [Treasure Chest Drop Rate X2].

No doubt this is also extremely useful.

Also, if I can afford it, I’d like to increase my agility with [Agility Up (+1)], which will compensate for my slight weakness.

However, agility also increases with level-up, and I don’t think it would be a drop in the bucket.

Furthermore, I wanted to get [Item Box] if I could afford it for a while, but I haven’t gotten it yet.

What is needed to gain skill points is, of course, leveling up.

Pure status improvement by leveling up is also naturally important for future strategies.

To level up, you need to kill a lot of monsters.

.

Not the weak monsters on the cave floor. But the strong and experienced monsters on the forest floor.

Fortunately, we could fight on the forest floor. 𝒷ℯ𝓭𝓷ℴ𝓋𝓮𝓵.𝒸ℴ𝓶

Let’s keep on going and attack as hard as we can.

As I was thinking about it, the next thing I encountered was──

“……, 5 killer wasps!”

We encountered the largest group of killer wasps on the 5th floor.

When the difference in strength between the enemy and us is small, the “number” factor can greatly affect the war’s outcome.

The 5 giant bees appeared a short distance away and flew toward us at high speed as soon as we met them.
