I Was Mistaken as a Monstrous Genius Actor-Chapter 329: Bangkok (5) - Edited
Chapter 329: Bangkok (5)
Translator: Santos
It was hard to believe that Miley Kara, a global superstar, would be here in Bangkok, Thailand. The whole situation seemed absurd, given her busy schedule with a new album. Joseph Felton and the rest of the group thought the same.
So, Joseph, Megan, and the rest of the team tried to calm down the executive who’d spotted her.
“Haha, Miley Kara? Really? We’re in Bangkok, you know,” Joseph said with a chuckle.
“Right? That long flight must have taken a toll on you. Maybe you just need some rest,” Megan added with a playful smile.
“Did you see a ghost or something?” another team member teased.
“Where? Where did you see Miley?” asked a skeptical colleague.
They laughed it off, but the executive furrowed his brow, still unconvinced.
“No, I’m serious—that blonde woman—she really looked like her.”
Joseph and the others followed his gaze, but by then, the woman had already disappeared.
“Are you sure you’re feeling alright?” Megan asked, more concerned this time.
“Why don’t you sit down while we check in,” she suggested, patting his shoulder.
“...Yeah, maybe you’re right,” he sighed, pressing his fingers to his eyes, “It’s probably just wishful thinking... Miley Kara...”
As he accepted that he’d just imagined things, the other team members laughed.
“Well, it was exciting for a moment to think about Miley Kara, right?” one of them commented.
“Haha. Miley Kara—she’s notoriously hard to cast. Isn’t she probably busy with her album right now?” another remarked.
“Exactly, she’s probably swamped,” added Megan.
“If Miley Kara were really in Bangkok, the news would be everywhere, here and in Hollywood,” someone pointed out.
Just then—
“Joseph.”
A male voice called out from across the hotel’s massive lobby. Joseph and the rest of the team turned to see Ethan Smith, *Beneficial Evil*’s stunt coordinator, walking toward them with a big smile.
“Ethan!” several people greeted him.
They all knew Ethan had joined *Beneficial Evil* as the stunt coordinator. As he approached, he shook hands with Joseph, Megan, and a few others. But unlike usual, he wasn’t alone—three Korean crew members were with him.
“These are some of the production staff from *Beneficial Evil*,” Ethan introduced, gesturing to the Korean crew.

Joseph’s team had come to Bangkok to observe the filming, so they had some preliminary information, but there were still on-site details to discuss, thanks to Producer Song Man-woo’s thorough planning. After a short briefing, a production assistant distributed papers to Joseph and his team.
It was a non-disclosure agreement.
Joseph’s team had to sign the documents agreeing to keep all information about the shoot confidential. As soon as he received it, Joseph thought, *Talk about tight security.*
Still, he didn’t find it odd; this level of confidentiality wasn’t uncommon in Hollywood. Leaked information could severely damage a production, impacting everything from marketing to the final product’s reception. It was a serious issue, and breaking such agreements often led to hefty penalties.
Megan, who had worked with Woojin before, understood completely.
*Of course,* she thought, *they must be putting a lot into Woojin’s action and CQC scenes, not to mention key moments with Miley Kara.*
Some of the team members, however, seemed taken aback.
*Isn’t this a bit much for a drama?*
*They’re really strict about this, huh?*
---
Meanwhile, in the suite upstairs, Miley Kara sat cross-legged on the sofa, her cap and mask resting on the coffee table. She looked across at her manager, Jonathan, and spoke in her usual cool tone.
“Did you see that? Joseph Felton was down in the lobby.”
Jonathan’s eyes widened slightly.
“What? Joseph?”
“Yeah. There were a few familiar faces with him—some people from Universal Movies, too.”
“Huh—I’d heard he was prepping a film. Could it be for that?”
“It’s possible, but they’re too few for a location scout. They’re here for something else.”
“You don’t think...*Beneficial Evil*?”
“If Joseph’s involved, it’s likely. He’s pretty taken with Woojin, after all.”
“Joseph came all the way to Bangkok just to see Woojin? That’s a stretch. Woojin’s not that big in Hollywood yet.”
Kara shrugged with a small smile.
“Well, we’ll know soon enough when they’re on set. But if they’re here to watch Woojin—this could get interesting.”
If Joseph’s team got to see Woojin’s performance, his CQC scenes, and some of her scenes with him, how would they react? She felt a surge of excitement at the thought.
“I’m starting to think the L.A. house I bought for Woojin might be put to use sooner than I expected,” she added.
“Hmm?”
“Woojin’s making an impression on more Hollywood people, that’s all.”
Kara then shifted gears.
“Anyway, Jonathan, check into the film Joseph’s working on, will you?”
---
Early the next morning, Woojin left the hotel with the entire *Beneficial Evil* crew. Bangkok’s sun was already blazing, and Producer Song Man-woo walked beside him, explaining the plan.
“Today’s mainly for rehearsals, checks, and practice. We need to coordinate with the local extras on the action sequences, plus there’ll be car chases and explosion scenes. Multiple checks won’t hurt.”
Their destination was a village about an hour outside of Bangkok. It was quite large but sparsely populated.
*There’s such a different feel to this place in the morning. Kind of exotic but with a South American vibe.*
The village, once bustling, was now mostly quiet, with many empty buildings, abandoned factories, and vacant lots that provided a visually compelling setting for the shoot. Most of the action would take place here: long takes, car chases, explosions, and shootouts.
The Thai infrastructure was well-suited for this level of production, making it a popular location for Hollywood shoots. The local industry was well-developed, with an abundance of equipment and smooth coordination for permits, government support, and crew logistics.
Soon enough, Woojin and the rest of the team gathered in a large empty lot in front of an abandoned factory.
With roughly 100 crew members from *Beneficial Evil* alone.
But standing on the other side of the lot were about 50 local Thai staff members.
*Aha, so they’re the local crew?*
Overseas productions required local support, and about half of these 50 Thai crew members were part of the film crew, with the other half being local extras, chosen primarily for their extensive experience in action scenes.
In total, around 200 people filled the open area in front of the factory.
“Shall we begin?” Song Man-woo called out, giving the signal for the rehearsal preparations.
The crew sprang into action, setting up cameras, lights, and props. The making-of team was already capturing footage around the abandoned factory and the crew bustling across the lot.
The air was thick with the sound of commands and instructions.
Woojin, meanwhile, greeted the local Thai staff and extras with a polite, “Pleased to work with you all,” in English. The Thai extras eyed him with interest—they knew who he was.
Woojin remained calm on the outside, though he, too, felt excited by the sight of so many people on set.
*Wow, this must be the first time I’m filming with so many foreigners, especially for an action sequence. Kind of nerve-wracking.*
Unaware of Woojin’s thoughts, Producer Song directed the local staff and extras to get into position. The makeup and wardrobe team rushed over to Woojin.
Minutes later, Woojin had transformed.
He wore a tattered white shirt and jeans, his skin tone slightly darkened. His black hair was made to look messy, matching the look of Jung Yeon-woo hiding out in Bangkok. Woojin looked in the mirror one of the staff held up for him, giving an approving nod.
*Oh—this is amazing.*
He was nearly identical to the “Jung Yeon-woo” he had envisioned. Others watching from a distance, including writer Choi Na-na, Chief Director Kim So-hyang, and Choi Seong-geon, were equally impressed.
“Wow—he looks exactly like the Jung Yeon-woo I pictured! The resemblance is uncanny,” Choi Na-na exclaimed.
“Didn’t you write ‘Jung Yeon-woo’ with Woojin in mind?” Kim So-hyang teased.
“Well, yes, but seeing it in real life is still different,” she admitted.
“Haha, our Woojin’s versatility is no joke,” Seong-geon laughed.
“Ah! Woojin has his gun!” someone else noted.
Woojin had just received an M4 carbine, the rifle Jung Yeon-woo frequently used in the series. Soon, Song Man-woo, stunt director Ethan Smith, and a few Thai crew members gathered around him. Song Man-woo gestured at Woojin.
“Feel free to fire it, Woojin.”
Nodding, Woojin lifted the M4 carbine and fired forward with a practiced ease.
*Bang, bang, bang!*
The loud shots made the hundred-plus crew stop and turn toward Woojin. Flames burst from the rifle’s muzzle, ejecting shell casings. The recoil felt real, and even Woojin was taken aback.
*Whoa—this is intense!*
The team had prepared firearms that looked and functioned almost like real ones. Although they fired blanks, the rifles were designed to simulate real muzzle flashes and shell ejections, enough to make
them almost indistinguishable from real guns.
Song Man-woo was committed to minimizing CGI as much as possible.
---
At that moment—
*Screech!*
Two black vans pulled up in the parking lot near the abandoned factory where the *Beneficial Evil* team’s cars were parked. Out stepped a group of foreigners, including Joseph and Megan, as well as a few Universal Movies executives.
They were taken aback by the scale of the production.
“Wow, look at the number of crew members!” one of the Universal executives remarked.
“There’s definitely more than 200 people here.”
“They must’ve combined the local staff with their own crew,” another observed.
The loud sound of gunfire caught their attention once more.
*Bang, bang, bang!*
Woojin fired again, and Joseph’s group widened their eyes.
“Wow, looks like there’s a shootout scene,” one of the executives said.
“They seem to have high-quality guns prepared, too.”
“Check out the guy firing the gun—he looks like a real pro. Did they hire specialists?”
“Of course, you’d want professionals for something like this.”
“No.”
Joseph smirked.
“That guy’s an actor.”
“...An actor?” one of them asked, stunned.
Just then, a female voice joined the conversation.
“He’s definitely an actor.”
They all turned to see a blonde woman in sunglasses approaching, flanked by about ten others. As she drew closer, their eyes grew wide with shock.
“Unbelievable...”
Casually, the woman removed her sunglasses as she stopped before them.
“He’s definitely an actor,” Miley Kara repeated.
Everyone stared, mouths agape. One executive finally found his voice.
“I knew it! I wasn’t seeing things yesterday!”
Megan stammered, “M-Miley, why are you here?”
Kara raised her sunglasses, pointing toward Woojin on set.
“Obviously, I’m here to shoot.”
“S-Shoot?”
“Yes. Although... it’s about 100% because of that actor.”
All eyes turned to Woojin.
Meanwhile—
“Hey, isn’t that blonde woman over there... familiar?”
A few crew members in *Beneficial Evil* team began to notice her presence.
“Who? Where?”
“Over there, near the parking lot.”
