I was Kidnapped for Revenge by a Ruthless Alpha-Chapter 76: A Party DJ
Chapter 76: A Party DJ
*** Author’s Note: Sorry about the sporadic updates. We’ve been having issues with our appliances, and I’ve been handling the repair people, it’s been back to back since we moved into the new rental, ya girl can’t seem to catch a break ***
~AMBROSE’S POV~
She was nothing like I imagined. At every turn this girl works against the narrative I wrote about her.
She’s funny and shy, despite her confident air.
I don’t think she realized it, but this was our first activity as mates.
My wolf was jumping at the idea, and I’ve gotten surprisingly comfortable with the idea of us being mates much quicker than I expected myself too.
After we settled on the food that would be served, we went to look for a band or a DJ.
Damon had pulled up a few Facebooks of pack members who play music.
"You know, princess, this would probably more your speed than ours, considering your dad owns a record label and did music production." My beta suggested.
"I don’t know anything about the music the people here listen too, and doubt anyone here listens to what I do, I’m probably the last person who should have a say in this." She answered.
I didn’t really have any information on that. What kind of music does she like?
"What music do you listen to that no one here would never listen too?" I ask.
"Classical with a modern edge." She challenged me.
I was definitely not expecting that, shit, I didn’t even know that was a thing.
"Wait is that really a thing?" I asked doubting the truth.
"Pull up YouTube on your play Arena by Lindsey Sterling." She said to me.
"Okay." I whipped my phone out immediately and pulled it up and started to play it.
I listened and found it to actually be pretty good, different, but good. It was a girl, and she made the violin sing along to electric music. There were no words, only notes.
After it was over I looked at Damon and we had the same thought.
This would be great to play at the celebration, and we’d get a DJ. Sorting through the three people that DJed. We settled on this young 12 year old boy.
Damon, Odette, and I arrived at the boy’s home. Damon standing in front knocks first. Opening the door is a woman with ash blue hair, dusting her hands on her apron. When she opened her eyes fully taking in who was standing in front of her, she began stumbling bowing her head low.
"Excuse me, my king, I didn’t expect to see you here. What can I do for you? Where are my manners, would you like to come in?" The woman was scared shitless fumbling over her words from her nerves.
It’s hard maintaining my composure and not laughing at the silliness of her erratic behavior.
"Thank you, Mrs. Belthane, we would love to come in." Damon spoke. I nodded, Damon usually did most of the small talk while I handled the main topics.
"I’m so sorry I’m not set up for guest, especially ones of you station, please have a seat. Would you like something to drink? I’m afraid I only have water and tea." She asked welcoming us inside and gesturing us to sit at her table. Her home was small and humble. A small couch big enough for two and a single rocking chair. She had a wood burning fireplace, large enough to keep the room warm. A worn wooden table with four chairs, a small kitchen space. Big enough for two.
"I would love some warm tea, if it’s not too much." Damon respectfully asked taking a seat at the table.
Odette and I followed Damon’s lead and took seats next to each other at the table.
The woman put water in a copper kettle and placed it on the stove on high. She took a seat with us at the table.
Before she could ask the reason for our visit again, I began "It’s about you son."
"Oh, what did that boy go and do now. I’m so sorry if he caused you any trouble." She started but I put my hand up stopping her from continuing to speak. I could see the beads of nervous sweat appear on her forehead. Worry line creasing her face.
"Mrs. Belthane, I am hosting a celebration in your pack, and I find myself in need of your assistance. Or rather, your sons." I instantly put her at ease when she realized her son didn’t offend me.
"Oh, my king, I apologize for assuming things too soon and not listening. What can my son do for you, your majesty?" She asked, her eyes now had this light of hope in them, and the worry lines that were plaguing her face have relaxed.
"We’d like to hire him to DJ at the event, what’s a party without music?" I give her a dazzling smile.
I could see the hearts in her eyes.
But I could feel the frown on Odette’s face without even having to see it.
My little green fox. So cute. I chuckle inwardly.
"You want my son to DJ? But he’s so young, you do know that, right your majesty? He’s only 12. That’s a lot of responsibility." She sounded both nervous and excited. Like she was confident in her sons talent, but hesitant with her son’s reliability.
12 year olds can handle a lot more than many people realize.
I inherited the Throne at 13. A 12 year old can handle playing music at a party.
"I’m aware of his age, I was your Alpha King at 13 years old, I have the utmost faith and confidence, with your son’s ability he can manage the music for the party." I did my best not to sound condescending.
However, her wince and Odette’s kick under the table told me I still came off that way.
I sighed.
"He only means kids are more capable than people give them credit and that he trust’s you did a good job with him, and he’ll play his heart out." Odette jumped in.
I paid close attention to the woman’s reaction to a powerful vampire in the room, but she looked over and just smiled softly.
"Thank you for clarifying Lady, uhm..." I saw the panic slowly settling in, like she had forgotten my guests name and she’d be in big trouble.
Poor woman, panics so easily.
"Princess, Princess Odette, it’s okay though, we weren’t properly introduced and that’s no fault of yours." She spoke gracefully and with ease.
Instantly calmness washed over the woman who started trembling with anxiety for fear of messing up. Even knowing a powerful vampire was in her home.
How was she able to do that?
"You mean, the vampire princess, Princess Odette." Her eyes brightened with surprise.
"Yes, Mrs. Belthane, your son has good taste in remixes, and I think he’ll add a fresh new sound fitting of Alpha King Ambrose’s vision for his celebration. Is he home, we’d like it if we could meet with him." She spoke with regal authority like she was born to make pleasant demands. Though she framed it like a question, it wasn’t one.
And Mrs. Belthane understood that immediately and rose from her seat "I’ll go fetch him."
No doubt she wanted to make sure he was more presentable then whatever he was in right now.
While she was away the kettle started to sing and Damon rose from his feet and took the kettle off the burner and placed it on a cool one, returning to his seat.
A few minutes later we heard a fuss from down the hall and the shuffling of several pairs of feet.
A young boy with dark blue hair appeared. In a black shirt and black pants.
Hmm at least he matches the theme we all have going on here. I look around the room and Damon is also dressed in all black.
The boy take a seat at the table and his mother now at the stove making tea, she looks to Damon and gives him a nod, knowing he moved the kettle off the burner for her while she was out of the room.
She serves us all the tea. I inhale the sweet yet bitter aroma. She placed sugar cubes on the table, allowing us to flavor our tea as we like. I prefer mine without any sugar. Odette just took 3 cubes. And Damon took one.
I look to the boy and ask him, "Interested in DJing for a party for your king tonight?"
The boy’s face paled at first, like he couldn’t believe he was asked this.
He stammered unable to form any coherent words.
"It’s okay no pressure, if you don’t want too..."
"YES!" The boy shouted quick and clear.
"Ah, good, had worried you’d turn me down." I gave the kid a friendly smile.
Odette looked at me pleased. Which made my insides all warm and fuzzy.
"I... No... I couldn’t... My king." The boy fumbled his words again, but at least was able to form whole words this time.
"You could, though I would have been disappointed, I’d have accepted. It’s the vampire princess here whose heart you’d break and wrath for such heartache you’d have to deal with." I winked at the boy.
Odette frowned and looked at me sharply.
"He’s lying, I’m a vampire, but I don’t bite. This guy he’s a blood thirsty beast under that human skin, don’t let this golden eyed fool you." She acted like she was talking secretly with the boy.
The boy looked nervous still and clearly without much thought, Odette reached out and patted the boy on the shoulder, which instantly relaxed him.
She did it to him too. She had this calming effect on people.
She didn’t have this before.
Could this be part of her feeding? Because I removed her collar are her powers increasing? Had she not fully developed before I put that collar on her?
All I know is, she is one special woman.
