AMBROSE’S POV:

Hearing her tell me about how her father would react to her being wounded made my blood boil. I can’t believe he could treat his own daughter so ruthlessly. Even my father wasn’t like that.

Can we kill her father?

No, Onyx, the plan has been to destroy him not kill him. Her being our mate only solidifies my revenge being met. And her choosing us because we are mates and I stole her heart means she won’t let her family hurt her people. It’s brilliant.

I don’t agree with using her anymore, I’m inherently against it. Screw them, we have our mate and that’s the only thing that matters now. Let’s just give up.

I do, in it’s own way. I thought about it like this. I don’t have to get revenge. Fate did when it made her our mate. It could be my blessing. His atonement. She’s real, beautiful, powerful, and strong. She isn’t disgusted by my ruthlessness. She could be Luna Queen, you were right.

I told you.

Don’t push it.

MATE. MATE. MATE.

Onyx leapt to and fro and then laid down and purred in my mind.

I was losing it. so quickly, over her. My wolf was already toast.

Having her here with me makes my world feel whole, like this missing piece of my soul has finally found.

Like I really had something all my own to protect. Not some inherited right bestowed on me because of my birth, but because she was mine.

If she’s to be my luna, she will need to know more about the people who are the leaders of her packs. What better way than to teach her, and have her help in the process, learn from experience.

I watched her walk with such grace it appeared to be floating on the ground.

She looked like a goddess.

God Damn. She was perfect. The way her hips sway, nothing like other girls, it’s natural. A part of her royal upbringing.

"You really want my opinion?" She asked me peering over me to see the paperwork.

"Yes, take a seat." I lean back gesturing to my lap.

Heat ran to her cheeks I could see the embarrassment and hesitation. It was cute and endearing.

"Come on, there’s nowhere else for you to sit, and I’d prefer it if you were closer to me." I admitted boldly.

I was done with the pretense. I was going to pursue her. Openly.

And let anyone speak against me, against her. They’ll pay dearly.

She moved slowly toward my lap, I smiled, grabbed her waist pulling her onto my lap. "That’s right, princess."

We look at the report together. Damon had taken a seat and looked over his own paperwork.

"Raenar Lockwell, alpha status, he scores well in training. He has a high kill count for rogues." I started but Odette interrupted.

"Yes, but he also scored low in his language classes, he’s done no work with the community, he doesn’t have a wife, yet. He’s just damn good at killing."

"Valid point." I nodded in agreement.

"Don’t want to lose a good warrior, promote him, the pack could use a strong general. The promotion with no warning will bring him closer to us, making him more loyal and reliable." She said.

"Us?" I asked raising my eyebrow at her. "So there’s an ’us’ now?"

She scoffed and rolled her eyes at me, and I chuckled in response.

I put this report to the side and picked up the next one.

"Drake Landwood, alpha status, scores well enough in training. Did well enough in school, just above average, he has a soft spot for runts. Which could be seen as a weakness, leaving him vulnerable." I read her another one.

"Okay we can consider him, I don’t think it’s weak to care for misfits, I’m one, and I care for misfits, and I’m not weak. Maybe crazy, but definitely not weak." She corrected me defending herself.

"Well excuse me, princess, I stand corrected. You are most certainly not weak." I said in a teasing tone.

She shoved me playfully, but I dramatically throw my arms back and pretend she pushed me hard and acted wounded.

"Ow, Oh gosh, Princess, You’re so strong. Don’t hurt me please!" I mocked.

Her moving around on my lap was making my dick hard.

"Why, you. Don’t make me really hurt you." She yelled with a smile, slapping my shoulder.

"Ow, Princess I think you broke my shoulder. Why do you insist on hurting me. My only crime is liking you."

She went to slap again but stopped midair. She looked at me blushing.

"What does my honesty surprise you?" I had a genuine undertone to my question.

She looked away and mumbled "Shut up, of course not. Let’s get back to the list, yeah?"

"Sure, whatever you ask princess." I chuckled lightly at her cute shy manner.

"We have, Jaylin Monroe, alpha status, doesn’t train as often, but she is trained and did well enough, however she is trained in medicine, in school to be a doctor, works in the infirmary in the meantime, and has a long-standing girlfriend." I said raising my eye to her.

"Would she want to post pone his education?" She asked me.

"We can ask her." I answered quickly.

"I like her. Who’s next?"

"Renold Weaver, Top marks in training and in education. He’s done volunteer work, but with the rebuilding not with the pack members. He is said to have a mean streak. I don’t think he fits your idea of a good leader by the look on your face."

Her nose was scrunched, and she looked so adorable being displeased.

"No, absolutely not, any guy that gets top marks, stepped on someone with the intent to hurt them, they’re aren’t a leader. A leader picks up the slack of others, not shoving them under their feet to reach their goals." She spoke firmly with decisiveness.

"You scored top marks. Who did you step on?" I smirked at her.

She frowned and then mimicked my smirk, "I stepped all over Raven to get there, so I’m the evidence to my claim."

"Well then, case closed. He’s a solid no." I placed his report to the side, picking up the last one.

"Jason Windiger, large wolf, comes from a long line of alphas. Well trained, helps with the newbies. He doesn’t do any charity work, but he has a clean record. Not a single mark."

"So, I take it he’s got no parking tickets, yeah?" She gave me a deadpan look, but her tone was teasing.

Dry humor.

"None, the guy is as pure as the driven snow. What do you think?" I asked her.

"Add him to the ones who need to be interviewed." She answered.

"Okay, Damon, we’ve figured it out, send these reports back, they’re a no. And these three schedule them for interviews tomorrow. I don’t want to waste any time. They have today to prepare." I was short with my response.

Having her move around on my lap was stirring me up inside.

My hand found her ass, and she jumped startled by the intimate contact.

"What are you doing?" She turned to me shooting me a deadly look. And a grin smeared itself across my face.

"You know what I’m doing." I licked my lips, and she bit down on her the bottom of hers.

Onyx growled pleased at the sight of her reacting to our advances.

She is warming up to us. Can we claim her yet?

Not until she accepts us. I can’t claim her unless she’s willing. I’m not the kind of guy to force that on anyone, especially not our mate.

I know, I agree, but I’m desperate, I want everyone to see our mark, to know she’s our mate. That she belongs to us. I want the world to know that Artemis finally gave me a mate.

I know. We’ll make her love us that’s the plan. We’ll treat her better than her family ever did. We’ll give her things she didn’t know she needed, wanted, or even existed.

I’m so glad we’re finally on the same page. It’s only taken what 6 weeks now?

"Oh, my goddess, it’s already past lunch time! I’m supposed to go to the library with Genevive!" Odette shouted jumping from my lap. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com

Just as I thought we’d have some alone time with our mate. She’s gotta run off like her life depends.

Not on my watch. I grab her waist and drag her back down to my lap.

"Oh, no you don’t my little fox. Not so fast."
