Chapter 207: Breaking the Seal

***Author’s Note: I know the story is moving fast now, but I feel bad for almost dragging this out and I’ve waited soooo long to write the end, I’m just ready. Sorry in advance for the heartbreak to be read in these next Chapters. Don’t hate me***

~Narrator~

Ezelreth had been patient, but his patience was running thin, it took two weeks for the army to come. Yeah, it was early, but not soon enough for him. The witches were taking the longest. His entire plan hitched on them. He hated the idea of needing someone to do anything. He would use his power and blood to amplify the ingredients, the siren scale and the fae blood.

He’d come too far. Worked too hard. Planned too meticulously. For all of his plans to go down the toilet.

Over his dead body, or rather Violet’s.

Ezelreth had been prepping with Theoron when he was summoned by the witches to bring them back. Being as he was the only being among them that could open a weygate.

Ancient magic could only be used by ancient beings. So reluctantly he went to the gate opened to them originally.

When he opened the portal to the weylines they walked through. Their steps smooth and deliberate. Their long, hooded black coats gave them the appearance of floating across the ground.

"The spell is complete."

"Yes, DarkChild, the spell is ready." The witches all answered at the same time.

"Fucking finally."

His smile couldn’t have gotten any bigger. The time was here. They’d break the gates and from as many corners as possible he would send his army, taking clans and packs one by one. His reach extending further each hour as he struck down his enemies. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Violet was trembling. Was Odette ready? She’d spent her daughter’s whole life training for this moment. Violet knew that fate would come for Odette, but she couldn’t have imagined it would be her that was fated to fight her daughter.

She only hoped her precious daughter wouldn’t hold back and would take this fight to the death. Odette had to win. She just had to!

Theoron was given word to mobilize, directions for their forces to get to their weygate. Ezelreth would use his ancient magic to open multiple gates at the same flooding them with his soldiers. The plan brought excitement to his heart.

He would succeed, for his father he would do anything. Including burn the word in his name.

The witches drew their chalked sigil and poured the tincture into the circle and began chanting. The Maiden, The Mother, The Crone took turns throwing a bright red powder into the circle after each verse. The spell was long, dragging on. The language was old and took a long time to say anything in. The sigil glowed low at first and then a sudden burst of light and energy exploded from the sigil send shock waves that stretched through the dimension.

The force knocked the shifters over, and tumbled the Turned. Ezelreth was even nudged by the rippling waves of power crashing over and over again.

When it stopped the weygate shook, rocks crumbled and then stood silent and still. As a rock should.

Ezelreth was giddy with readied excitement. Just on the other side of the gate were the shifters who had gotten stuck. The minute Ezelreth opened the gate and was about to send his army through, they’d rushed in.

"Wait! Your Majesty... Wait..." They both shouted. When they reached the soldier and Ezelreth at the front, standing near the witches.

"We have intel. They’ve moved all the clans and packs somewhere else. We couldn’t find where, the information is well guarded and only known among the main family. We’d have to capture a member of their family or someone close to them and find out force them to talk. We are low shifters and they are purebloods." One shifter began.

"Their army has been collecting near an abandoned pack territory. Even among rogues who have never left this dimension have heard the stories of the pack. The massacre." The second shifter informed Ezelreth, "They’re at the CrystalBay Pack."

At the mention of the name Violet’s memories came flooding in. The pain, the humiliation, the shame and worst of all the fear. It was time in her past, a time she was desperate to forget. And for a long time she had. The memories of that place and the events that transpired were pushed into the back of her mind.

The mention of the name brought it all back.

She could still hear the screams and pleas the shifter made before their throats were ripped out.

She could still see the panic and terror in their eyes as they watched their friends and family get torn apart, drained of their blood.

She could still smell the copper in the air and the stench of burning would and ash left a permanent stain in her mind.

And Ezelreth, he didn’t miss a second of her pain. Her struggle, her memories. He observed with serious interest. Seeing her like this intrigued him, what could make her break? What about this shifters news made her break like this.

And then it hit him. Violet must have seen the massacre, must have been there.

The irony he thought. They picked an abandoned pack that was drenched in blood and death. The scarred by the murderous intent that plagued them before they were murdered.

Destiny was really working in his favor this time around.

In Violet’s mind he watched the girl crumble.

"It seems you are familiar with story and the pack. Tell me Maiden, what could make you break, when nothing else I’ve done has even touched your heart the way this does. Your pain and your bodies reaction its delicious."

"How do you feel knowing we will return to a place that broke you, little queen? Does it hurt? Are you scared?" He laughed manically, feasting on her misery.

"Screw you, you bastard." This made him laugh even harder.

"This is rich, I wonder if your wonderful daughter realizes what she’s done." Ezelreth clapped.

Theoron approached "Your majesty, everyone is ready for your command."

"Bring the soldiers here. We will take them in the place they won’t be expecting." He was so sure of himself, that he’d catch them off guard.

Despite the pain, Violet knew Ash would never return there, so them being there was strategic, it was on purpose. And whatever they had planned, she’d help it become a reality.
