Three years later.
Again, at the end of another summer.
Today is Tuesday, and without having to go to work, Youman brings Little Muxi along to pick up Xia Wanβan early in the morning.
Xia Wanβan usually canβt wake up easily, but when the three-and-a-half-year-old Little Muxi rushed to the bedside and gave her a loud kiss on the face, "Anβan, itβs time to wake up."
According to the family hierarchy, Little Muxi should really call Anβan βGrandma,β but Xia Wanβan truly detested that title, so she insisted that Little Muxi just call her Anβan.
Little Muxiβs voice was so sweet that when she called out "Anβan," it melted Xia Wanβanβs heart completely. Even though she was reluctant to leave the comfort of her bed, she quickly sat up and scooped Little Muxi into her arms, fawning over her excessively.
"In this world, the only one who can call you out of bed this quickly is Muxi," Song Youman, who followed Little Muxi into the bedroom, teased Xia Wanβan with a smile.
Xia Wanβan hugged Little Muxi even tighter to her chest: "Of course, who wouldnβt love Little Muxi as much as I do!"
Upon hearing this, Little Muxi immediately looked up with her big, black, glistening eyes, and sweetly, as if coated in honey, said: "Anβan, I love you too."
Seeing Little Muxiβs adorable, milk-like innocence, Xia Wanβan couldnβt help but kiss him several times on the face, then reluctantly let go of him to get washed up.
After leaving home, Xia Wanβan and Song Youman first stopped by a nearby breakfast place to fill their stomachs, then they took Little Muxi to the maternity center.
Han Yixiao became pregnant last fall, and her water broke the night before last, taking her to the hospital for a grueling twelve hours. Finally, at seven oβclock yesterday morning, she gave birth to a six-pound baby girl.
The baby girl had yet to be officially named, but her nickname was decided on at the first pregnancy check-up, calling her Mengmeng.
Initially, Xia Wanβan didnβt understand why such a nickname was chosen. It was only by chance that she found out the name derived from Zhang Chengβs name (Cheng Meng Yixiao), though βMengβ sounding too masculine was modified to βMengβ from βlemonβ (limΓ³n).
Today, the maternity center was crowded with visitors, and there werenβt enough parking spots. Song Youman had to park in the underground car park of a nearby hotel. Little Muxi wanted to go to the bathroom, so Xia Wanβan took him out of the car ahead of time.
Having given prior notice, Xia Wanβan, led by the maternity center staff, took Little Muxi straight to the eighth floor. After entering Han Yixiaoβs room and greeting Han Yixiao and Zhang Cheng, Xia Wanβan took Little Muxi to the restroom.
As they would soon see the newly born Mengmeng, Xia Wanβan meticulously washed both her and Little Muxiβs hands.
When they came out of the restroom, Mengmeng had just finished drinking milk, lying in the crib with her eyes closed, tenderly opening and closing her tiny pink mouth, sticking out her tongue.
Seeing baby Mengmeng, Little Muxiβs eyes lit up. He stretched out a hand and gently pulled on Mengmengβs little hand, calling out in a young, tender voice, "Sister..."
Xia Wanβan, holding Little Muxi and watching baby Mengmeng, chuckled: "Little Muxi, you donβt call her sister; you call her βlittle auntieβ..."
