I Want To Move In Next Door-Chapter 1105 - 1102: Favored with a Smile (14)
Zhang Cheng returned to Beijing that day, and it just so happened to be a weekend.
After getting off the plane, the first thing he did was to call his mother, wanting to tell her that they should have dinner together that evening.
However, as soon as the call connected, before he could say a word, his mother started speaking first: "Chengcheng, good timing, I was just wondering when you would arrive in Beijing. Don’t come home later, come straight to the Han Family’s old house. I have promised the old lady that you’ll come here for dinner tonight... Alright, no more talking, I’m playing cards with the old lady’s friends... Three of a kind..."
Zhang Cheng didn’t get to say a single word before his mother hung up the phone.
Zhang Cheng had always respected the old lady of the Han Family. To him, she was his benefactor, so since his mother had promised on his behalf that he would come over for dinner tonight, he naturally intended to go.
Upon arriving at the Han Family’s old mansion, it was just past four o’clock. As soon as Zhang Cheng entered, he heard the lively chatter inside.
Lu Yangui and his mother, along with two other ladies close to Lu Yangui, were playing mahjong. The old lady of the Han Family was accompanying Zhang Cheng’s mother, watching television on the side and chatting with them. Besides them, there was also a young girl sitting next to her own mother.
Zhang Cheng didn’t even have to say anything; just by observing the scene, he instantly understood.
This was a blind date... without any prior notice!
The first to notice Zhang Cheng was a servant of the Han Family. Following the servant’s shout, the group of ladies then turned to look at Zhang Cheng.
Zhang Cheng quickly greeted them: "Old madam, General Manager Lu, Mom..."
"Chengcheng is here, come sit..." Zhang Cheng’s mother casually called her son over before continuing to deal and play her cards.
Perhaps it was prearranged, Zhang Cheng’s mother quickly moved a chair over and placed it beside the girl, gesturing for Zhang Cheng to sit down.
After thanking her, Zhang Cheng took a seat. The girl turned her head to glance at him, and seeing that Zhang Cheng happened to be looking at her, she gave him a polite smile.
Zhang Cheng could only smile back in response.
While playing cards, Zhang Cheng’s mother said: "Chengcheng, this is Mrs. Qu’s niece, named Qu Ying. She just graduated from university this year and has been employed by the Han Corporation..."
Zhang Cheng’s mother seemed to be unable to remember something, as she looked towards Qu Ying: "Which department was it again?"
Qu Ying, knowing that Zhang Cheng’s mother was trying to help find a conversation topic for her and Zhang Cheng, smartly addressed him: "Assistant Zhang, I’m Qu Ying from Han Corporation’s Public Relations Department. I just finished my probation period not too long ago."
"Miss Qu, nice to meet you..." After exchanging a few formalities with Qu Ying, Zhang Cheng found himself out of topics.
As Zhang Cheng’s mother shuffled the cards, she noticed the awkward silence between the two sitting next to each other and spoke up again: "That’s right, didn’t Miss Qu say she wanted to go to the Han Family’s backyard garden to pick some fresh flowers to take home? You can go with Chengcheng..."
As she spoke, Zhang Cheng’s mother gave her son a sidelong glance as if worried he would disagree.
Zhang Cheng, who had experienced many unsuccessful blind dates, knew he was at a disadvantage. He stood up and took the initiative: "Let’s go, Miss Qu, I will accompany you for a look."
"Thank you, Assistant Zhang." Qu Ying stood up and followed Zhang Cheng outside the house.
The two quickly left the villa one after the other. The remaining ladies in the living room continued their card game while casually discussing Zhang Cheng and Qu Ying.
"I think they might have a chance!"
"It seems like Qu Ying might be a bit interested in your family’s Zhang Cheng."
"I feel like Zhang Cheng might also be a bit interested in Qu Ying..."
In the midst of the noisy and lively conversation, nobody noticed Han Yixiao curled up at the corner of the staircase leading to the second floor.
