I Want To Move In Next Door-Chapter 1099 - 1096: Favored with a Smile (8)
...
Another Monday.
Having crawled out from the torment of her period, Han Yixiao went to class.
Logically speaking, Monday is the busiest time for working people, but this particular Monday, Zhang Cheng was exceptionally idle.
After a business lunch at noon, Zhang Cheng didn’t have much to do in the afternoon. Since Han Yixiao had moved into his apartment, it had been a long time since he last visited his mother, so he drove back to his mother’s place.
The sixtieth blind date had been a bust, again. Upon seeing his mother, Zhang Cheng couldn’t avoid being scolded.
Knowing he was in the wrong, Zhang Cheng incessantly offered smiles and apologies to his mother. After coaxing her for more than half an hour, he finally managed to muddle through the failed blind date fiasco.
After spending another half hour with his mother, Zhang Cheng was contemplating whether to take her out for a stroll when his mother got a phone call. Her mahjong friends were looking for her, and without saying another word, she left Zhang Cheng behind, changed into a pretty outfit, and went out to meet her ladies.
Zhang Cheng stared at the door his mother had shut behind her without looking back, stupefied for a moment. He then watched TV in the living room for a while and, feeling truly bored, got up and left.
His mother lived in a bustling area. Not long after Zhang Cheng drove off, he saw a trendy cake shop with a long queue and, on a whim, hit the brakes and parked at the roadside. Then, with his wallet in hand, he stood at the end of the line. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
It was just yesterday or the day before that Han Yixiao was browsing on her phone and came across this cake. She watched the video of the cake with eyes shining, barely stopping herself from drooling on the spot...
The queue was truly long and the sun was truly scorching...
Dressed in a suit, Zhang Cheng was soaked in sweat by the time he got to the front of the line. Not knowing which flavor Han Yixiao preferred, he hesitated over the eight varieties for a while, then he had the salesperson pack one of each flavor for him.
When he paid, the salesperson kindly reminded him that the cake tastes best within two hours.
Zhang Cheng returned to his car, and since he had nothing else to do, he drove straight to Han Yixiao’s school.
Upon arriving, Zhang Cheng had intended to call Han Yixiao, but he happened to bump into one of her roommates. The roommate of course remembered Zhang Cheng and asked very enthusiastically, "Are you here for Yixiao? She’s over by the school sports field. You’ll see her if you go there..."
"Thank you," Zhang Cheng said, put away his phone, and headed straight for the sports field.
There was a sizable crowd at the sports field. Zhang Cheng looked around for a while before he spotted Han Yixiao.
She had her back to him, standing on the podium, chatting with a guy on her phone.
Because the distance wasn’t far, Zhang Cheng walked right over, sizing up the guy as he went—average looks, mediocre sense of fashion... He just didn’t match up to Miss Xiaoxiao...
Getting closer, Zhang Cheng could hear the guy’s voice clearly: "I’ve thought it over; maybe we shouldn’t do it? This is getting a bit out of hand..."
What’s getting a bit out of hand?
Zhang Te’s assistant furrowed his brows and paused in his tracks.
Unaware of the person behind her, Han Yixiao was hugging her phone, typing.
The guy leaned over to take a glance, "Eh? You really want to give me ten thousand yuan? Then... all right! We’ll do as you say and put on a show tonight, pretending that I... that I took a fancy to you, then trapped you and bullied you... And remember, you mustn’t call the police about this..."
