I Turned Filthy Rich Just By Sleeping With Women?!-Chapter 39: Two Choices
Chapter 39: Two Choices
Zhao Yiming froze.
The adrenaline that had been surging through his veins suddenly faded, leaving behind only a chilling stillness.
His eyes were fixed on Jin Haolong’s unmoving body, the blood pooling beneath him spreading like ink on a white page.
He wasn’t breathing. He wasn’t moving.
He probably died.
"W-What do we do?! What do we do?!" Su Meilin panicked, dropping to her knees as she reached out to check his pulse. But Zhao Yiming stopped her.
"No. Let me check..." His voice trailed off. "Meilin, go put your clothes on. Now."
Trembling, still only wrapped in a blanket, Su Meilin nodded shakily before rushing back into the master bedroom to get dressed—and to grab Yiming’s clothes too.
He sighed, exhaling slowly. If the police got involved... at least her fingerprints wouldn’t be on the body.
Zhao Yiming knelt and checked for a pulse.
Nothing.
He pressed his ear against Jin Haolong’s chest.
No heartbeat. No breath.
"...He’s really dead," he muttered under his breath.
Strangely, despite the crushing pressure of the moment, Zhao Yiming felt his nerves begin to settle. His thoughts cleared as the system interface appeared again in the corner of his vision, cold and cruel in its timing.
He had two choices:
Turn himself in, face the law, and lose everything—the future the God of Richness & Love had gifted him after death.
The second chance he’d been given would vanish in an instant. He’d become society’s trash all over again.
Or...
Hide the body or stage it as an accident.
But he wasn’t a criminal. He’d never done anything like this before. Surely, he must have already left behind a dozen pieces of evidence without realizing it.
’Think carefully. No one else will clean this mess.’
Su Meilin returned, now dressed. Her hands trembled as she handed him his clothes.
"Put these on... please..." Her voice cracked with guilt and fear.
Zhao Yiming nodded, silently slipping into his clothes while deep in thought. Meilin stood nearby, biting her nails anxiously.
"This is all my fault..." she choked out. "I’m sorry. If I hadn’t kissed you if I hadn’t asked for sex..."
Tears streamed down her cheeks again.
Zhao Yiming, now fully dressed, stepped forward and grabbed her shoulders gently.
"Hey. Look at me. Don’t say things that add weight you don’t need to carry," he said softly.
Her violet eyes—usually so bright—were dimmed with guilt as they met his.
"Are you... angry at me for killing him?" he suddenly asked, his voice small. "Or sad because he is dead?"
Meilin blinked, surprised. "I... I know this might sound cruel, but... I’m glad he’s dead," she said, looking down in shame. "At least, I will be free."
"I’m just scared you’ll be blamed... It’s not your fault, I should take the fall. I am the one who killed him and I’ll turn myself in."
Zhao Yiming chuckled, then pulled her into a tight hug.
"I’m relieved you don’t hate me," he murmured, burying his face in her hair.
Her scent calmed his heartbeat. "At least I won’t carry that guilt."
She hugged him tighter. "Do you... feel remorse for killing him?"
"My head’s too busy thinking about how to get rid of the body," he said, pulling away to meet her eyes.
"Neither of us is going to the police. We’re getting rid of him."
Su Meilin stared at him. Then she nodded slowly, her eyes hardening with resolve.
They were in this together now.
And they were going to get away with it.
However, just as they started to move, Zhao Yiming’s phone buzzed. When he checked it, he saw a message from Luo Yanyu:
(Hi, what are you up to?)
(Are you free today?)
Then, the realization hit him—he could hire the Black Orchid for this kind of thing! They do anything for money, don’t they?
Without wasting a second, he called Luo Yanyu. She answered almost immediately.
"What is it? Why are you calling me?" her voice sounded excited.
But Zhao Yiming didn’t bother with greetings or small talk.
"Luo Yanyu, something bad happened, and I need your help."
"Eh? I’m... of course, I’ll help if I can."
"Alright, you need to come here first. I’ll send you the address."
He hung up right after and handed his phone to Su Meilin to help send the location—he still didn’t know how to use that damn "Share Location" feature.
As they waited, Zhao Yiming briefly explained to Meilin who he had called. He told her about the Black Orchid, about Luo Yanyu, and how they handled dirty work—no questions asked, as long as the price was right.
She looked surprised at first. Clearly, a flood of questions ran through her mind, but given their current situation, she held back.
Roughly fifteen minutes later, the doorbell rang.
Zhao Yiming opened it to find Luo Yanyu standing there. She looked tidy and elegant in a sleeveless black top, tight pants, and boots. The outfit screamed, "ready for a date."
Too bad he was about to drag her into a murder scene instead.
"Come in. I need to show you something," he said, voice low and serious.
Luo Yanyu’s smile faded as she sensed the heavy atmosphere. Without a word, she stepped inside.
At first, she was impressed. The penthouse was sleek and luxurious—unlike any place she’d ever been invited to. But the deeper they walked, the more chaotic things became.
Shards of a shattered vase littered the hallway. The master bedroom was a wreck. Furniture knocked out of place. A suffocating silence hung in the air.
Then they reached the hallway to the family room.
A corpse lay on the floor. Blood had pooled beneath the man’s head, soaking into the expensive rug.
Luo Yanyu’s brows drew together in a deep frown. "Zhao... what the hell happened?"
Zhao Yiming glanced at the body casually. "What do you think? Can Black Orchid help me get rid of him?"
He spoke so calmly, so coldly—it was as if he hadn’t just murdered someone.
"Huh?!" Luo Yanyu’s fists clenched at her sides.
She suddenly realized she’d walked straight into a crime scene. There was no backing out now—she was involved.
She had assumed Zhao Yiming invited her over for lunch. A little flirting. Maybe a kiss if she was lucky.
She thought that ’bad thing’ was only his way of messing with her or maybe the question about his phone.
’I should have known something weird when he shared his location using his phone instead of typing the address.’
Instead, she got a corpse and a cleanup job.
She exhaled sharply. "Yeah... they can."
[Ding!]
