I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 234: Rejection and Planning
|Cellica Lular — Elven Sage of the Great Northern Forest|
When I open my eyes, I see one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen in my long life. I see a man looking at me with kind eyes. However, that is not what catches my breath away. It is a fact that there are dozens of spirits floating around him, rubbing their heads into his, and when the man looks at me in concern, the spirits also look at me in concern.
Most of the spirits are Green Spirits, and the majority of them already reach Nature Spirits level, which is someone that she rarely sees, even back home.
However, Green Spirits are not the only spirits floating around him. She can also see other colored spirits. She can see Red Spirits, Yellow Spirits, and Blue Spirits.
All of them are in their second evolution. Red Spirits are in their Inferno Spirits, evolved from Fire Spirits. Yellow spirits are in their Earth Spirits, evolved from Stone Spirits. Blue spirits are in their Ocean Spirits, evolved from Water Spirits.
"So! What is your name, dear guest?"
I snap from my shock and return to reality. I look at the familiar man in front of me and say.
"My name is Cellica Lular, Sage of the Great Northern Forest of the Central Continent, my lord."
There is no need for me to waste our time trying to hide my real name. He already knows my presence, and I remember the being that I encountered before... I shudder at the sight of it. A dragon bigger than any mountain and a power that can kill Gods. Such a sight will always make you faint.
Especially those draconic golden eyes that look at me as if they already know all of my secrets.
"I see. It is nice to meet you, Cellica Lular. My name is Gwyndolin Cunningham, Heir of the Cunningham Family."
"I know who you are, my lord. I come here to meet you, after all."
"Oh? Do tell."
I take a deep breath and say.
"I come here on behalf of the Elven Race of the Great Northern Forest of the Central Continent."
"A bit mouthful, don’t you think?"
I smirk a little and say.
"Yes. It is a bit mouthful, but it is something we need to use to give more prestige to our hometown. I know that the other nobles use that kind of tone as well, right?"
I watch him nod his head in understanding and say.
"Aye. Northern nobles use that kind of title to make their territory sound impressive. Do you want me to introduce myself with all my titles?"
"You do not need to do that, my lord. I prefer casual conversations to formal ones. However, we need to get the formality out of the way first."
"Perfect! Then please call me Gwyn or Gwyndolin if you want a little bit of formality."
"Then please call me Ceci, my lord. My friends call me that."
He nods his head and leans back before saying.
"So! What can I do for you? You want to meet me, right? Here I am."
I take a deep breath and say.
"I come here to ask for your help, my lord." I see him humming and decide to continue. "There is something wrong with our homeland. Our Seer gave us a prophecy and the reason why I travel to your territory, my lord."
"Oh? What kind of prophecy?"
I take a deep breath and tell him the content of the prophecy.
"Go south and enter the Territory of the Children of the Star. He who is beloved by Nature shall be the one bringing salvation to us. O Children of Star. O Beloved of Nature. Answer our plea!"
I release a huge breath and see him with a frown on his face.
"That is the content of the prophecy."
Gwyn looks at me for a few seconds before releasing a sigh. He stayed silent for another few seconds before saying.
"And what will you give me for helping you, Cici? I want to help you. However, as a Heir of the Cunningham Family, I need to watch over the image I project to others, you know? I’ve been helping people every chance I get, and the others start to think that I am a generous lord who will help with all of their problems without compensation. I am not."
Before I can say something, he continues.
"There is also the fact that my wives are pregnant. There is no way I am leaving them behind, especially for someone I don’t know. It is creating a bad image for me, you know? It creates an image of me choosing to help strangers rather than staying with my pregnant wives. There is no way you are more important than the love of my life. You are not family. You are not a friend. You are nothing but a stranger that I kindly take after you faint."
He leans forward, and for some reason, I feel as if I am standing in front of someone who is bigger than me. Someone who deserves respect and my submission.
"So, Cellica Lular, Sage of the Great Northern Forest. What can you offer my family and me to compensate me for my job?"
I open my mouth and close it a second later. No words are coming out of my mouth as my brain thinks of things I can give him. However, after a few seconds of silence, Gwyn releases a sigh and says.
"As I expected. You come here thinking that I will help you without asking for compensation, huh? It is worse than I thought it would be."
He stands up and looks me right in the eyes.
"You can return to your home and have conversations with your people. I will not move unless you can come up with something that is equal to the job that I shall perform. I am a kind person, but I will not be taken advantage of by others. My kindness is limited to my family and close friends."
He starts to walk away, and before he leaves the room, he stops and says one final piece.
"You are welcome to stay in my mansion for a week to think and communicate with your people. However, you need to leave or search for other accommodation if you want to stay in my city for more than a week."
And after saying that, he leaves the room. I sit on the bed, looking at the ground with only one thing in mind.
"Shit."
[[[ Line Break ]]]
|Gwyndolin Cunningham — Child of Star and Lord of Nature|
"Jonathan."
After I say that, Jonathan appears from the shadows and says,
"My lord."
"Can you watch over her for me? Also, please gather information about her hometown for me. You do not need to dig too deep. Anything useful on the surface will do for now. Especially the reason or at least the potential reason for her to come here and ask for my help."
"Yes, my lord."
And he disappears into the shadows once again, and this time, I can feel him use the window to jump off the mansion. I don’t know when it happened, but Jonathan took the role of my Spy Master and Master Assassin. He is the one who takes care of the problem before it becomes a problem and ensures I receive accurate information from around the kingdom.
Julian is the light that takes all the attention. His martial arts might make the others look at him as the greatest threat to anyone who wants to kill me. They do not know that Jonathan is waiting in the shadows to stab them in the neck.
I am truly blessed to have those two as my closest retinue. They are reliable, loyal to a fault, and willing to put their life on the line for my family and me.
I shake my head and look out of the window. My power gave me a warning. Warning about something brewing in the distance. It is not a threat now. However, it will become a threat in a couple of years.
I am not lying to her about the other thinking that they can just ask me for things, and I will solve their problems without compensation. Lower nobles begin to think this way and try to exploit it. I need to threaten a dozen nobles who think they can get away with it.
No. I will not let this kind of thing spread, and I will stand by my decision.
The problem still a long time. I will stay here until my children are born, and then I will help them with their problems. Even then, I will still ask for compensation. Something big enough to increase the prestige of my family.
I stop from my walk when I hear what I am thinking. Bloody hell. I start to think like the Northern Nobles!
