I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 223: They Shall Know Fear
|3rd POV|
Because of the news from Jonathan, when the northern noble decides to make a surprise attack against the southern territory, all the lords are ready and spring into action very quickly. The damage is not too much, and Gwyndolyn already gathered his army to do a counterattack against the invading army.
The one facing the Cunningham army is Marquis Gerrald Mathias of the Mathias Marquisate, the lord who governs the territory just north of Cunningham County.
The Marquis Mathias’ Army is currently resting in a fortified camp not too far away from Namok City, the northernmost city in Cunningham County. Gerrald looks through his spyglass and watches the city they will soon attack. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"My lord! The scout has returned!"
He nods and looks at the scout before saying.
"How many of them?"
"We cannot enter the city and cannot see the soldiers behind the wall. However, we can see about a thousand and five hundred soldiers on the wall."
"One thousand and five hundred, huh? Are they all archers?"
"Aye. At least we notice they have a bow in their hands and a quiver on their back."
"That means they are archers. They are in no way giving those arrows and bows to anyone who cannot shoot them."
There is a chance of them bluffing, but if his scout and his contact are correct, the Cunningham Family has enough soldiers to create a brigade of archers instead of phony archers.
"How about the city? Does our contact from the inside manage to uncover some secret tunnel we can use?"
The scout shakes his head and says.
"No, my lord. Sadly, they cannot find anything regarding the secret tunnel. However, they manage to find a small weakness in the wall."
"Oh? Tell me."
He takes out a paper with a drawing of the city’s wall and points at the tower on the west.
"You see these two towers? They are just done repairing them from old age and not yet have enchantment. That means they are weaker than the others. If you can aim these two towers, you will have an easier time,"
Gerrald nods his head and says.
"Perfect! We shall aim at these two towers when the siege starts tomorrow. Anything else?"
"The contact wants to know if you will summon the monsters, my lord. They want to know whether they need to run away before the siege. They don’t want to be killed by the monsters."
He looks at the scouts and grins.
"Tell them that we will not summon the monsters. Let them die because we don’t want any loose ends. We will use the siege as a distraction while the summoning team prepares for the ritual. We shall sacrifice the mercenaries at the front and the monsters behind them while we watch from the back."
The scout swallows his saliva and says.
"I understand, my lord."
"Good. You are dismissed."
The scout nods and leaves the wall, leaving Gerrald drinking his wine on the chair. All of them do not notice someone lurking in the shadows not too far away from them. Jonathan sneaks away from the wall and quickly leaves the camp to return to his lord.
He climbs to his lord’s open window and sees Gwyndolin, Jullian, Silvanna, and Hildegard already inside the room.
"Ah, Jonathan. You are here, good. Tell us what you hear."
The rogue nods and says.
"They will summon the monsters, my lord. They will send the mercenaries at the front, monsters behind them, and they will watch from the back."
Gwyn nods his head and leans over his chair. He thinks for a few seconds before saying.
"Jonathan."
"Yes, my lord!"
"You shall take your unit at midnight to the rear of the enemies. Use the hidden forest route the villagers show us and ensure no one notices. When you arrive at your destination, you shall wait for the signal. When you see it, hunt them down. Don’t leave anyone alive."
Gwyn leans forward and continues.
"However, if you get noticed, cause as much chaos as possible in their camp before retreating. We will create a new plan."
Jonathan kneels in front of him and says.
"Leave this to us, my lord. We will not disappoint you."
Gwyn nods and looks at Jullian.
"Jullian"
"My lord!"
"When I make the signal, you shall take command of your unit and use everything you have to kill as many mercenaries as possible before joining Jonathan in the hunt."
"Yes, my lord! I shall not let a single person leave the siege alive."
He nods and looks at Silva and Hilda.
"Silva. Hilda."
The two of them look at him and wait for his order.
"I want the two of you to stay at home, but I know you don’t want that. I shall let you in the battlefield, but stay on the wall. The two of you shall be the last defense against the remaining mercenaries or the monsters who manage to escape from my spell."
They nod their heads and walk toward him. They hug him tightly, and Silva says.
"And I need you to return to us, Gwyn. I know you are powerful, but this plan of yours is the most reckless one you have ever created, and you have a lot of them."
"Silva is right, Gwyn. If I don’t know your power and see the ability of your scroll with my own eyes, I will make sure to tie you up and prevent you from going into battle."
Gwyn chuckles at their words and says.
"I understand. I shall return to you alive and well."
The people around him look at Gwyn in shock. They can see a silhouette of a being made of stars appear behind him, and underneath the being is a beautiful grassland with a massive tree in the middle of the grassland.
"The world shall know the power of the Astrologian and Druid."
He gets from his chair, and his eyes glow with power and fury.
"And they shall know fear."
