I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 214: News From The South
I look at Silva with a smile on my face and hug her back. She looks at me with a smile and says,
"Welcome back."
I pat her head and say.
"I am back, dear. Where are the others?"
"Hilda is patrolling with Jonathan and Jullian. The three of them cannot stand in one place when you are not here. They decide to have some patrol instead of staying here without doing anything."
Hah! That is just like them. The three of them cannot stay in one place without doing anything; without me in there, they cannot bear it for more than five minutes. With me staying with them, they will stay as long as I was there, but when I am away, they need something to occupy their free time.
"Which route do they take on their patrol?"
"They decide to take the Southern Patrol."
"Of course, they take the most dangerous patrol route. Oh, well. They will be back this evening, right?"
"Yup. We can make a surprise for them."
"And you just read my mind, dear. What do you have in mind?"
"A small party would be good. However, I hear that you bring guests with you?"
"Right! I only bring two guests with me. She is the Princess of Ozawen Kingdom, Ashryn Erharice Ozawen"
Silva looks at me in shock for a second before sighing. She shakes her head and smiles a little.
"Of course, you will bring a princess as your guest. You never bring anyone who does not have a higher standing. It is either a princess or someone from the Duchy."
I can only look at her helplessly and say.
"What can I say? It is my luck. However, I would rather have a lower-standing guest than a princess or someone from a powerful noble house."
"Me too, dear. However, sadly, we cannot get anything we want. How is the capital?"
The two of us leave the castle as Silva takes me to the garden.
"The same as before. It is still packed with people and filled with vipers that are ready to bite you if you are not careful. I am lucky that I did not encounter some of the upstart nobles, but I have a feeling that if I stay there longer than needed, they will appear in front of me and dare to look down on me."
"That is true. However, I know that the older nobles will look down upon you as the younger generation already sees your power. The older nobles will still be stuck in their old way of thinking that the Southern Nobles are all barbarian."
"Maybe. I have yet to meet the other Northern Nobles other than the one coming here when we fight against the Gokuya Kingdom."
"Right! Speaking of the Gokuya Kingdom, that place is divided into three countries now."
"What? Really? This is the first time I’ve heard about this."
"Maybe Good-Father forgot to inform you because of the situation in the capital."
"Maybe. Anyway, what about the Gokuya Kingdom?"
"Right! It is divided into three countries. The first one is the one that still supports the previous king. They are now staying in the Southern Territory of the previous territory. The second one is a group of nobles that join under the banner of the second prince. They are now called the Hatur Kingdom and occupy the southwest area of the former Gokuya Kingdom. The last one is Vermillion Dukedom, with Eleanor Vortigern as their Grand Duchess."
"I see."
Ah, so Eleanor managed to unite her people, huh? It looks like she uses my gifts effectively, becoming a country leader.
"What about the Northern side of the former territory?"
"Hmmm? The northern side is still unclaimed because there are too many monsters in that area, and they do not have enough soldiers to take over them. They also fear the others attacking them if they decide to take over that area. Because of this, they are at a standstill at the moment, but I hear a rumor that the king of Gokuya Kingdom will try to attack the other two with monsters."
Unclaimed, huh? I guess that is the rumor I hear around the capital about moving soldiers south. I hope that the king is wise enough not to try and order us to attack that place. That area is a death trap.
Not only because of the monster but also the environment that we did not know about. We know a small bit of that place, but the rest of them? Those places are a black hole to us.
Unknown terrain is the deadliest weapon the monster has against us. Taking over that area will take time and resources because it will be a long and expensive campaign. Taking over the castle and city is not as hard, but the road is the most challenging. Getting to that place is the one that we need to watch out for.
Ambushes and night raids are regular things that happen when we march there. Monsters might not have the same intelligence as humans or any other races, but they know that hunting at night will result in a higher chance of getting their prey.
"Oh well. That place has nothing to do with us now."
Silva nods her head and says.
"You are right, dear. At least with the Gokuya Kingdom divided into three, we did not need to worry about our Southern border."
"We still need to worry about the Southwest of here, right? We still need to watch out for their movement."
Silva shakes her head and says.
"No. We did not need to worry about that. The Hatur Kingdom will not be a threat to us for at least four decades. Why? While they managed to unite under one banner, they needed to reorganize their kingdom because many nobles wanted to take over the kingdom. The only reason why the second prince of the Gokuya Kingdom managed to take over was because he had the most army on his side. Once the other nobles strengthen their ranks, they will try to take over and put themselves into the seat of power."
"Right."
Boy, I am glad that I married Silva. Her mind is something I need. She is my brain, and I am the brawn in this marriage. The same with Hilda. She might be learning how to be a good wife to a Lord, but she is still a brawn rather than a brain. She even admits it. She hates politics.
She might want to learn them, but she prefers not to. Because of this, Silva will be the one who takes care of many of the politics that I will encounter when I take over Cunningham County. Hilda and I will be the ones supporting her when she wants something to be done.
Group effort is something that makes a family last long, after all.
"Ah, we are here."
I snap from my thoughts and look at the garden in front of me.
"What do you want to do here?"
"I miss you a lot. Now, I want to be pampered before Hilda demands the same treatment. I want to sleep on your lap while you feed me fruits."
I shrug and say.
"Sure. Come on."
