I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 204: Strategy Discussion
The three new people coming inside the room are an adventure. How do I know that? They are wearing their adventuring armor and clothes. Not only that, but they are also twitchy without their weapons.
Only someone with a Grandmaster title can have a meeting with the king with a weapon in hand. Todor brings his magical staff and magic orb, and Valentine brings her rapier inside the room.
"Before we start, can I ask who that is? Does he deserve to be here?"
I can see Duke Verqur’s expression change into a frown when the man is wearing tiger skin on his shoulder and says that word with that tone. His tone is mocking and arrogant. He looks down on me, a Grandmaster of the Gipan Kingdom.
Duke Verqur is all about etiquette, after all. He can look over it when it is not an important meeting, but this is a meeting with a king, and that man’s tone is not something he can use with a guest that the king invites.
I decided to do something before the situation got worse by taking out my two weapons. I take out my strongest Starglobe and strongest Druid Staff from my pocket dimension. I look at the man and say.
"My name is Gwyndolin Alexander Cunningham, Grandmaster of Medicine of the Gipan Kingdom, the Killer of Charles the Undefeated, S-ranking Adventurer of Verlagan Kingdom, and Honorary Archmage of Luzia Kingdom. Who are you questioning my qualifications?"
I release half of my mana into the air, and I can see them get hard to breathe. I make sure not to make the King and Duke Verqur not get hit by my mana spike, but I can see Duke Verqur get affected by my mana because of how close he is. The same goes for Valentine and Todor. They are too close to my target, and they get half of the effect.
However, the one that gets the fullest might of my mana spike is the three new guests. I can see they are holding their neck as if I choke them.
"Grandmaster Gwyndolin, please release them. They are my guest, after all."
I nod and disable my mana spike. I can see the three of them gasp and look at me in fear and shock. The king looks at the man questioning me and says.
"Andre, you might be an S-rank adventurer, but you are not the most important person in this room. The only reason why I call you here is because you are the only one available. Don’t you dare to question the guest I personally invited, got it?"
The man quickly nods his head and says.
"Yes, Your Highness."
"Good." The king looks at me and says, "Also, this is the first time I hear that you are an S-rank Gwyndolin."
I smile at him, take out my adventurer card, and give it to him. The king takes the card and sighs.
"S-rank adventurer, leader of Six Star Party. Completing twelve S-rank missions and having the highest contribution to the SS-rank disaster. Completing 44 A-rank missions, 32 B-rank missions, and 20 C-rank missions."
The Verlagan King decided to make all my dungeon conquest an S-rank mission, and the guild agreed with the king. Not only that, each time I heal someone, the king also puts it as me completing a mission instead of me healing the people for free. That is another reward he gives to me other than artifacts and money.
I can see the King release a sigh and rub his forehead.
"You’ve only been there for a few months. Not even a year, and you already reached S-rank status? You are truly something else, Gwyndolin."
The King releases a sigh and says.
"Oh well, this is good as well. Anyway! Let’s talk about the reason why I’m calling you guys here."
The king takes out a small stack of paper and gives it to us. I take the paper and read it. This is a piece of information about our guest that will arrive tomorrow or the day after.
"What you are reading is the information about the guest that will arrive from the Tanada Kingdom. There will be a meeting between our two kingdoms. Andre, Jordan, and Helena, the reason why I call you here is because I want to take this S-rank mission. Guard the crown prince of Tanada Kingdom, Theodulf Hayes."
Ah, so it is like that. The king wants to show our guests that we can hire a group of S-rank adventurers as a guard. Showing off our richest, huh? Not only showing our richest, it is also a way to show off our Adventurer Guild power. Three S-rank adventurers that can be called anytime make it look like we have a lot of S-rank adventurers that we can call as the king likes.
That means, alongside the army, the king also has an S-rank adventurer group he can call in case something happens in the kingdom.
"I have already prepared a bunch of armor you can take from my personal vault for this mission’s reward and a uniform you need to wear in this mission. Of course, we also give you money for your time. However, if you decide to take the armor for yourself, the money reward will be cut by more than half."
"What kind of armor are we talking about?"
The only woman in the adventurer group speaks for the first time.
"You can see them yourself. My butler will take you to the room where the armor is located. If you do not want the armor or the weapon you need, give them back to me, and we will pay you in full with gold."
Helena nods her head and says.
"I see. Is this our only job?"
The King shakes his head and says.
"No. Of course not. Besides guarding him, I want you to hear what they are discussing. I don’t want you to sound like a spy or something actively, but make sure to open your ears and listen carefully to what they are talking about. Just hear what you can hear, and don’t get too deep into their group."
"That is easy enough."
The king nods and says.
"Do you take this mission?"
After thinking for a few seconds, the three adventurers nod their heads, agreeing with the job.
"Good. You can follow my butler to the armor room."
The three of them nod and leave the rooms with the butler in front of them. With them gone, the King looks at us and says.
"Now, let me say the reason why I call the three of you."
"You want us as a menacing figure in the meeting."
Valentine beat the king to it. The king can only nod his head and say.
"I want as much power in this meeting as possible. By showing off, I can get more power in this meeting to make sure they do not think they can get away with moving their army into our territory."
"They are getting into our territory?"
Todor asks in interest. The King looks at Duke Verqur, who nods his head.
"Our scouts see more than a thousand people inside our territory."
"A thousand people?! That is outrageous!"
Valentine shouts in anger.
"Yes. We are lucky that they are quickly running away when our scout finds them, but it is suspicious. Our specialists already spread across the area to check if they were planting something, but they found nothing. The same with the group of magicians we sent there, nothing was found."
Todor looks at Duke Verqur in confusion and says.
"Are you sure? Do you need me to check on it?"
"We will be grateful, but we hope that Grandmaster Gwyndolin will be the one checking on it."
The people look at me and say.
"I don’t mind, but why me?"
The King looks at me and says.
"You are the one that found the curse in Baxter Territory, right? We are hoping that you can get the same feat in this problem."
"I don’t mind. I will do that."
"Thank you."
The King looks at Duke Verqur, who continues his explanation.
"Anyway, we didn’t find anything, and we asked their king about it. They only said that it was military training. What makes matters worse is that the Guihan Kingdom also does the same thing and answers with the same kind of answer."
Valentine leans over her chair and says.
"You are afraid that they will join hands."
The King nods and says.
"That is why I want to gather all the Grandmasters here. Other than to show off, I also want to make them see that we are not a kingdom that can be messed up with. I want to show them we are powerful enough to fight their combined kingdom and win."
The others nod their head in understanding. I did not like being used like this, but I also agree with the king in this situation.
Duke Verqur looks at us and continues.
"Now... Let’s talk about how to make our force look bigger in their eyes..."
