I Try To Enjoy My Life But This Woman Keep Calling Me Villain-Chapter 168: Incoming Tidal Wave
The Six Stars Adventure Party joins the Eastern Frontier, where I can see a lot of people already preparing for the incoming monster wave. I look at Lord Benham and say.
"Who will be the commander in this fight?"
"Hmmm? The head commander will be Duke Itor. His full name is Olyvar Itor, and he is a stern yet kind and just commander. He is the lord of this territory. This city, Belltown, is the capital city of the Itor Duchy. This is the last city before you go to the Endless Sand Desert that separates the Verlagan Kingdom and the Yudor Kingdom to the east."
"The monsters are coming from the Endless Sand Desert, huh?"
"Yes. That place is full of monsters because of how regularly a Void Crack appears in that area. Duke Itor’s job is to make sure his men control the growth of the monster near their territory and make sure to notify if there is a massive Void Crack like this one."
So, it is like the Death Zone near the Cunningham Territory, huh? However, instead of a dense jungle and many hidden caverns, this Death Zone is full of sand and hot weather. The Cunningham Family also needs to ensure there are no monsters near our border by cutting them down occasionally.
"Anyway, let’s get inside the city. We need to meet Duke Itor to discuss the strategy in the incoming fight."
"Eh? I need to come as well?"
"Yes. I already appointed you as the commander for all the adventurers from Lokah City. That means you and your companion need to come and discuss the strategy for the incoming fight."
I hold a grimace and follow Lord Benham to the castle. He talks to the guard about us being the commander of the adventurer from the Lokah City, and the guard lets us inside the castle. The servant who was already waiting for us in front of the castle took us to the meeting room where the others were already waiting inside the room.
I can see an old man in his mid-fifties looking at the map on the table perk up when he sees Lord Benham get inside the room.
"Ah! The Sand Viper, Benham! Welcome, old friend!"
I can see Lord Benham grin at that greeting and walk forward. He Hugs the old man and laughs.
"Hah! It has been a long time, old friend. How is the Scorpion of the East doing?!"
"Bwahahaha! I’m doing great, old friend. Sit! Sit! We will start the meeting soon. Also, are they your guards?"
"Hmmm? Ah, no. Let me introduce you. They are an adventurer party called the Six Stars Party. They will be the commander of the adventurer from Lokah City. They are an S-rank party."
The other people in the room perk up when they hear the word S-rank party. S-rank parties are really famous, huh? I know that the S-rank party will get us a lot of attention, but I never thought that it would be like this.
"S-rank party, eh? Are you guys an S-rank adventurer or a group of A-rank adventurers?"
I walk forward and say.
"We are a group of A-rank adventurers, my lord."
"I see. That is great!"
Lord Itor nods and looks at Lord Benham before saying.
"They will be the ones leading the adventurer from Lokah City, huh?"
"That is correct. They are powerful individuals, and Gwyn, the leader, is a great commander. They are the ones killing that sandworm that blocks the road to the eastern part of the kingdom."
"This is them, huh? Great!"
Lord Itor looks at me and says,
"I will reward your party when the fight is over. Make a large contribution to the fight, and your reward will be bigger."
"Of course, my lord."
"Good. Take a seat. We will start the meeting. The scouts have arrived."
I take a seat next to Lord Benham, and my companion stands behind me. After a few seconds, I can see a group of people walk inside and quickly say.
"My lord! We managed to see the size of the Void Crack! The researcher predicts it will be a type 3 Void Crack, at least!"
Hearing that word, the people inside the room get serious. Type 3 Void Crack is already bad enough, and now you say that it was the minimum? It is a disaster. I can see Duke Itor frown, and after thinking for a few seconds, he says.
"How long will it last?"
"We have at least three more days or seven days at the longest."
"Three days to prepare, huh? Then we need to make sure all the preparation is ready. You are dismissed. Inform me when something changes. The behavior of the Void Crack is still mysterious to us. We did not know if those three days would be shortened to a day."
"Of course, my lord!"
The scout leaves the room, and now the people can focus on Lord Itor. Lord Itor looks at the map for a few seconds before saying.
"We have three days to prepare. Trapping team, I will talk about the trap later. For now, we need to talk about our current biggest problem. We must take care of the monsters coming to this city. There is still a lot of movement from the Southeast of here. The monsters coming here are the ones that spawned from the smaller Void Crack."
The others nod their heads in agreement. Yeah, that will be a problem because even when we put traps around the city, they will be used against the monsters outside the incoming Void Crack and make it useless.
We need to take care of the monsters coming first before putting the traps around. Lucky for us, we already know where the monsters are and have an easier time cutting them down. When a massive Void Crack appears, the other monsters that have already spawned will go into a frenzy, and they either protect the forming Void Crack or go to the nearby living being to kill.
"For this reason, I want to ask the adventurer to spread around and hunt them down. At the moment, we currently have eight A-rank parties and one S-rank adventurer party in this room."
Only that much, huh? I look around and notice the other adventurer in this room. They are wearing armor and holding a weapon in the meeting room. I can see the people standing behind the one sitting, and I know that they are adventurers. The one sitting on the chair should be the leader of that party.
I can count there are almost a hundred adventurers, including us, in this room. One of the parties has twenty-one members. We are the ones who have the least number of members.
"I want you guys to spread out and kill any monster you can find. We will give you one healing potion for every single adventure for an emergency."
"Where will you send us?"
The leader of the biggest party asks Lord Itor.
"Good question. I want you to take care of the monsters from the Southeast while the lower adventurer will take care of the one in the Northern area with the soldiers following behind them."
"Can we take the material from the monsters we killed?"
One of the leaders, the one that leads all female adventurers, says.
"Go ahead. I will even let you ask the butcher I will hire for the material you want."
"Good."
Lord Itor nods and continues.
"Now, let’s move on to something more important. Is anyone here a healer? Please raise your hand."
I look at Lord Itor and raise my hand. I look around and notice that there are five healers, including me, in this room.
"Five, huh? That is enough. I have already hired a lot of priests from the churches, and they will help you heal the one injured. Now, the next question is... who will be the one on the frontline? We need at least one healer that can heal our vanguard."
Seeing no one talking, I sigh and say.
"I will take care of it. I will be the one in the frontline healing the vanguard."
"Thank you..."
"Gwyn."
"Thank you, Gwyn. I will leave the other in your hand."
"I will not disappoint you."
Lord Itor nods his head and continues.
"Now, let’s talk about traps. We have a few traps we can use. We can use the wire trap that slows down the monsters to give our archers time to clean the ones trapped in this wire trap. We can plant that trap, but we need someone to push the button for it to work. Baron Latif, you will be the one looking after this trap."
A middle-aged man sitting on the opposite side of Lord Benham nods.
"Leave it to me, my lord."
"Good. The next one will be the spike trap. I need your opinion on this. Look at the map in front of us and tell me which place we should use for this trap."
It takes three hours before the meeting is over.
