I Transmigrated Into A Fantasy World To Farm And Build Houses!-Chapter 155: Going Home
Ordinarily, Michael and Max wouldn’t have eaten that much.
But having been constantly on the road recently, their energy consumption was too high, so their appetites had soared accordingly.
After resting for one night in the Dwarf tribe, the group prepared to leave early the next morning.
As they set off, Eric smiled brightly and waved to the Dwarves who had come to see them off reluctantly:
"We will definitely come back next year, and we’ll help you rebuild your homes then."
The one-eyed bear had collapsed quite a few houses. Those with only minor damage could be repaired, but the ones it had completely knocked over, like Aiden’s house, could only be rebuilt when the weather grew warmer.
Eric thought that Joseph would surely be very happy to come here to visit and help his fellow kinsmen.
Last night, after eating the oysters in garlic sauce Eric made, the Dwarves had enthusiastically pressed countless amounts of garlic and chili peppers on him. One person said this, another said that, and their hospitality made it impossible for Eric to refuse, so he had to accept.
But before leaving, he specifically asked Julia for some onion seeds. The toasted bread yesterday had the smell of spring onions, which was much more fragrant than the wild onions growing on the mountain. Moreover, he had noticed that Julia grew onions in pots at her house. These home-grown onions were much larger and plumper than the wild ones. He loved using onions to enhance the aroma when cooking; previously, he had to make do with wild onions, but now he had finally found the authentic domestic variety.
When Julia heard he wanted onion seeds, she didn’t say another word and went straight to the cellar, bringing out a full cloth bag. She even intended to give Eric all the onions she was growing in her house, making it very difficult for him to refuse and escape her excessive enthusiasm.
Chief Henry led the tribe members all the way to the edge of the village to see Eric and the others off. Aiden’s family was also present. Young Ky held little An’s hand, waving goodbye to them along with the adults.
"Pretty brother and yummy-food brother, good, bye!"
Little An reluctantly waved her tiny hand, her lisping, milky voice speaking.
The two adult Snow Wolves gave off too strong an oppressive feeling. Little An didn’t dare to get close to them from beginning to end. Although Michael looked very approachable, in the eyes of a Dwarf child, he was truly a giant, almost as tall as two of her fathers combined.
Faced with Michael, she also avoided him. Therefore, she only said goodbye to the two people she felt closest to, leaving Eric and Evan caught between laughter and tears, especially Eric.
All his effort to feed this little kid, and in the end, all she remembered was delicious food.
The Dwarves, led by Chief Henry, saw them off for a very long distance. Even the Dwarf who had been badly scratched on the back by the one-eyed bear insisted on standing in the front row. Evan’s magic had helped him recover a lot, so much so that he wasn’t bedridden.
Max transformed back into a giant Snow Wolf, loaded the luggage onto his back, and then signaled for Eric and Evan to climb on. Eric carefully placed the Jin bird’s egg in front to block the wind, then covered himself and Evan with a thick animal hide.
But he still couldn’t sit still and poked his head out, looking at the figures of the Dwarves on the ground.
After Michael had also finished strapping on all sorts of items brought back from the sea, the two Snow Wolves began to stride forward swiftly. The figures of the Dwarves grew smaller and smaller, gradually turning into tiny black dots in Eric’s eyes, until they completely disappeared behind the trees.
He felt an indescribable sense of emptiness, burrowed completely under the animal hide, and familiarly nestled into Evan’s arms. At first, he only dared to lean against Evan for some warmth. Now, he had gotten bolder, directly crawling into the man’s lap to warm up.
It was pitch dark inside the animal hide. Eric curled up, feeling the warmth spread. He was still clutching the small nest of A Mat in his arms.
Evan pulled the animal hide tighter to block the wind. Through the gap, he saw Eric’s soft, silky hair, and the corners of his mouth unknowingly curved up slightly. He reached out and slowly stroked Eric’s hair.
The rest of the journey was quite peaceful. Even though they encountered high-level magical beasts a few times, the group skillfully avoided them.
Just like that, the journey was smooth sailing, and finally, one evening several days later, they arrived back at the tribe.
Every night, the tribe sent two warriors to patrol the territory. Tonight, the ones responsible for the patrol were Kevin and the female Snow Wolf named Riley.
Hearing their footsteps from a distance, Riley and Kevin, who were hidden in the darkness, immediately bared their sharp fangs. Only when they caught the familiar scent of Eric’s group did they retract their wary posture.
"You’re back!"
Kevin shouted joyfully, running over with Riley.
Seeing his tribe members, Eric jumped down from Max’s back, conveniently helping Evan down as well, still remembering to hug A Mat’s small nest.
"Huh, who is this?"
Kevin tilted his large head, looking at Evan with confusion.
Max and Michael both transformed into their human forms one after another and put their animal hide clothes back on.
"A human we picked up on the road," Max said casually.
"Alright, let’s not talk anymore. Let’s put the things away first," Eric spoke up. Any later and they might wake the sleeping tribe members.
Riley and Kevin came over to help carry the luggage. As Kevin carried it, he yelped:
"So much fish! Whoa, why does this thing have so many legs!"
Eric looked over and saw that Kevin was holding an octopus in his claws. Ever since Eric had made delicious octopus dishes for them at the sea, the octopuses living near the coast had met with disaster. When it was time to return to the tribe, Michael had even specially dived down to catch a few more.
Having never seen a sea creature before, Kevin naturally found it ugly. But basically, few of the edible things from the sea looked appealing. The ones that looked a bit better, like sea shrimp, Kevin recognized, it was just that their bodies were much larger than the shrimp living in the river.
"Whoa, did you trade for all this from the Red Grass tribe?"
Kevin asked. The tribe had really gotten much wealthier this year. In the past, going to the Ox-Head tribe, they could only meagerly trade for a little food. This year, they could trade for so much fish and shrimp, and even these ugly things.
"But there’s no grain here. Did you guys go separately?"
Riley sniffed with her nose, not smelling any grain. Besides, every year the tribe traded for a lot of grain, and this pile of goods clearly didn’t have that many sacks.
"We brought these things back to store first, then we’ll go meet Joseph and get the farming tools they traded for. We still have to make another trip to the Red Grass tribe, and we’ll all come back together then," Eric replied. This year, with the addition of the Dwarves from the Du tribe, the Snow Wolves naturally had to help with their trading. This excuse was reasonable.
Riley and Kevin finally understood. They went with them to the tribe’s food storage cave and stored the various seafood that Eric and the others had brought back. The other items were naturally stored in Eric’s private cellar.
Eric didn’t have his own house. Luci was responsible for taking care of Leo, and a small beast cub would naturally be more comfortable living on a warm heated bed, so she also stayed here with Leo, the two of them keeping each other company.
The Snow Wolves in the past didn’t even have house doors or yards, so they naturally didn’t have the habit of locking doors. Max gently pushed with his hand, and the courtyard door opened with a "creak".
"Who is it, still not sleeping this late?"
Luci’s voice called out from inside the house. Soon, the room door opened, and Luci stepped out.
Eric ran over first:
"Luci, it’s us, we’re back!"
In reality, the moment Luci stepped out, her good eyesight had already seen them clearly. Now, she joyfully hugged Eric tightly.
"My good boy, you’re back! It’s so late, you must be exhausted, right? Hurry inside, hurry inside."
