Chapter 135: Encountering the Elf Tribe

A silvery wave unexpectedly crept up the sand, sweeping away the seashell combs that Max had painstakingly arranged, scattering them everywhere.

Eric rested for a while, then got up and started to busily gather them, moving them further inland.

It would be a pity if another big wave came and washed them all away; after all, it was Max’s hard work all night.

"Little beastman, why are you here?"

A clear voice, like a silver bell, came from somewhere.

Eric was hugging a pile of combs, struggling to drag them into a small forest, when he heard the voice. He froze, looking blankly in the direction of the sound.

Under a towering ancient tree, stood a woman of stunning beauty.

Her entire body glowed with tiny green specks of light, like thousands of summer fireflies.

She wore a long, emerald-green dress that flowed softly in the wind.

She held an exquisitely carved scepter, her long, jade-green hair fluttered like a soft ribbon, her characteristic long, pointed ears peeked out from behind her hair, and her pink lips were as plump as early morning petals.

That heart-stirring beauty left Eric stunned, his mind blank, with only two words echoing in his thoughts: so beautiful, so beautiful...

The woman’s jade-like eyes revealed a faint smile. The female Elf was about to ask again when one of her companions lightly jumped down from a tree.

"Funa, let’s go. Gray has already checked the seabed in this area; there’s nothing unusual."

With that, the companion was about to leave. Funa waved to stop him, smiled, and pointed to the dazed Eric, saying:

"There’s a little beastman here. There are no beastman tribes around here. I’ll go ask what he’s doing here."

"What time is it now? Why are you still bothering with this beastman? We..."

The companion impatiently tried to persuade her, but after meeting Funa’s gentle yet unyielding gaze, he resentfully shut his mouth.

Today was definitely Eric’s lucky day.

His eyes hadn’t even left the beautiful female Elf when another male Elf, with a slender figure and an ethereal, refined appearance, jumped down from the tree next to them.

He felt like he didn’t have enough eyes. His vision kept brightening again and again, as if his sight was being assaulted by tens of thousands of beautiful rays of light at once.

The beautiful woman was walking towards him. Eric suddenly felt nervous, unconsciously hugging the pile of seashell combs tighter.

"Little beastman, what are you doing here alone? Where are your tribesmen?"

Unable to immediately think of a reasonable explanation, Eric stammered, "I... I came..."

He looked down at the combs in his arms, suddenly had an idea, and said:

"I came here to find some food, and while I’m at it, make some combs to take back and use."

So it was a mischievous stray beast cub. Funa smiled, her smile like a budding flower blooming in the spring breeze, brightening the entire sky.

She said gently, "Does your tribe not have enough food for the winter? Why run all the way out here? The seashore is very dangerous, hurry back."

With that, she took a brown seed from the exquisite cloth bag at her waist and threw it on the ground.

She raised the scepter in her right hand, her lips moving in a murmured chant. Soon, the scepter emitted a soft green glow.

Funa waved the scepter, pointing it at the seed.

The ground, frozen hard as rock in winter, miraculously allowed the tiny seed to sprout, pushing through the frozen earth and stretching upwards until it became a towering tree.

It wasn’t over. The dense canopy began to bloom with vibrant yellow flowers. Soon, these flowers withered, forming heavy clusters of brownish-yellow fruit.

In just a brief moment, Eric had witnessed the entire process from a seed sprouting, growing, to bearing fruit.

Although he knew this world had magic, this was the first time Eric had witnessed such a magnificent and magical scene with his own eyes.

The scene stunned him, evoking the same sense of awe and emotion as when he first watched the footage of the benevolent Forest God in an animated movie in his past life.

He was shocked speechless.

"This is a breadfruit tree. I used magic to ripen the seed, but doing so means only the fruit is edible, and the tree itself will wither soon. Little beastman, take this back for food."

Funa lowered her hand, turning back to speak to Eric in an incredibly gentle tone.

At this moment, Eric felt as if a holy halo was shining from behind this beautiful female Elf.

She must have thought he had no choice but to run out and find food because he was starving. The phrase "a beauty with a kind heart" was surely created just for her.

Compared to her, the male Elf, though also beautiful, seemed fierce, and his impatient demeanor was truly unpleasant to look at.

Eric decided to ignore him, turning to the beautiful female Elf: "Thank you, beautiful lady, your magic is so powerful!"

He praised her sincerely, his bright eyes shining with unconcealed admiration for Funa.

Funa raised her slender white hand to cover her mouth, her laughter as clear as silver bells.

"My age is likely greater than even your mother’s. This little beastman has such a sweet tongue."

Her companion stood behind her with his arms crossed, rolling his eyes dismissively. This beastman cub sure knew how to talk, a bit different from the other savage, cold-blooded, and simple-minded beastmen he had met. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

In his opinion, Funa was just too kind, treating even these well-developed-limbed beastmen so well.

Eric’s eyes widened in shock. The female Elf in front of him looked so young and beautiful; could she really be several hundred years old?

The lifespans of most races in this world were very long.

Long-lived races like the Elves could live for thousands of years; it was impossible to tell their true age with the naked eye.

"Alright, we’ve left food for him, we should go, Funa."

The male Elf urged, his gaze sweeping over Eric, his expression clearly impatient.

Eric pouted, secretly making a face at him. This guy was so obnoxious.

Funa couldn’t help but laugh, reaching out to pat Eric’s head. She clearly looked like a young maiden, but her eyes held the love and protection of an elder.

"Are you here alone? Why would your tribesmen leave a cub out here all by himself?"

She said, her tone a little worried.

Only then did Eric realize Funa was a bit taller than him. Her slender, fair hand stroking his head felt unusually warm.

He couldn’t help but be dazed for a moment before finally replying, "My tribesmen are nearby processing prey; they will protect me."

But normally, those two Snow Wolves would have heard the noise and run over long ago. Why was there still no movement now?

Eric looked out at the sea, puzzled.

He saw Max and Michael standing on a reef, both with extremely serious expressions, their eyes fixed intently on the two Elves.

Mesmerized by beauty, Eric had forgotten their existence and suddenly felt a little guilty.

But in the past, they would have rushed over long ago. Their reaction today was very unusual.

Eric glanced at the male Elf opposite, who was tensed up, and immediately understood.

After all, they were mortal enemies. They needed to maintain a safe distance, or it would be seen as a provocation.

The original owner’s parents seemed to have died at the hands of Elves, but the Black Wolf tribe and the Golden Kingdom also had a hand in it.

Even knowing about the old feud, facing someone as gentle and kind as Funa, Eric truly couldn’t muster any hatred.

He could only silently apologize to the original owner’s deceased mother in his heart.

"Furuisi, let’s go."

Funa pressed down the bow in the male Elf’s hand and smiled at Eric. Then, the two of them leaped lightly, gliding away through the forest, disappearing in just a few blinks.

Reluctantly watching the gentle Funa leave, Eric stood in place and waved vigorously:

"Goodbye, Funa, and Furuisi too!"

On the distant branches, only a few dry leaves fell; their figures were long gone.

"Little beastman, hurry back to your tribe. It’s not safe here."

Eric received no reply and was feeling dejected when he suddenly heard Funa’s clear voice echoing in the air. He immediately cheered up.

He shouted loudly, "I know! Thank you!"
