Chapter 573 - 573 A Perfect Encounter, The Devil on the Prowl, The Beautiful and Lonely Girl and The Brutality of Susan.

Near the campus lawn, the leaves fell from the trees as a red-haired girl stood waiting.

"Hey~"

"Hey."

MJ smiled when she saw him, and Allen raised his hand in return, smiling back. MJ ran into Allen's arms and he caught her in an embrace. It was a beautiful reunion scene worthy of a romantic drama.

"I made you wait?"

"No❤️~"

They held hands before walking off. Thanks to the spell, not only did Allen draw less attention, but MJ did as well. And well, like in any other part of the world, people don't usually pay much attention to an ordinary couple holding hands.

But this image of peace was destined to end...

Allen had no idea he was under the watchful eye of the second (or maybe third) most powerful entity in all of DC.

Lucifer Morningstar... by all definitions, a being so powerful that not even "The Presence," the omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient God of DC, could erase him.

When the time came, Allen might have to make a tough decision...

...

(The next day)

It was a quiet morning. Gwen, MJ, and Allen exited the bus and walked toward Empire. Allen had no shortage of ways to get to school; he could roll up in a tank or a helicopter, teleport, or even fly there. But right now, he was just another student; no more, no less. Well, except for the fact that two beautiful girls, Gwen and MJ, each held one of his arms as they walked. That made him anything but an ordinary student.

Still, it didn't make much of an impact. People didn't even bat an eye, as if walking with two "wives" was as common as drinking water. Of course, the spell had its limits. If Allen did something crazy like summoning a dragon, people would definitely notice.

"Hehe~" MJ giggled, clinging even closer to Allen.

"Something wrong?" Allen asked, curious.

"Of course not, I'm just walking to school with my boyfriend~" MJ smiled brightly, making Allen feel a little guilty for letting her go to Empire alone for a whole month.

"MJ..."

"Don't worry," Gwen gave him a soft punch on the shoulder. "We've been coming together every day, so it's really nothing to worry about!"

"That's right!" MJ added quickly, echoing her words.

As usual, Gwen didn't want Allen to feel bad. Both girls knew this situation could have been easily avoided. Allen could've just pulled a "Harry Potter" or a "Record of Ragnarok" move—leave and come back a second later so no one would notice he was gone. But that wasn't an option. If he did that, they wouldn't be able to watch his live streams or support him the way they did.

Gwen and MJ exchanged a quick glance before each gave Allen a kiss on the cheek, making him blink in surprise—then smile.

"Thanks..."

Allen wrapped his arms around the two of them. Sure, there were plenty of women in his life, but this girls had been with him since the early days, through all kinds of crazy adventures. He looked silently at their faces, both of them blushing in anticipation.

Today seemed like a good day...

*BOOM*

Maybe not...

Right next to Allen, a truck landed—tossed by Hulk, who was yelling furiously.

"HULK IS ONLY HULK!"

Allen was about to send a telepathic message to the green giant, but then another Hulk came crashing down.

"LIES! HULK HAS ALWAYS BEEN HULK!"

They both shouted at each other and charged, colliding with such force that the resulting shockwave sent several vehicles flying. One car hurtled toward Allen, but he stopped it with telekinesis. Even MJ and Gwen were caught off guard, this didn't make sense!

Allen frowned. "Two Hulks?"

Just then, a raccoon with a minigun jumped over a vehicle and kept running. He had a robotic arm slung over his back.

"This crap's gonna sell like hotcakes!"

"Get back here, vermin!" shouted a long-haired man with only one arm, chasing after the raccoon.

"Wait, Bocki!" Captain America jumped off a building and went after the man called Bocki.

"You won't escape, Steve Rogers!"

Magneto levitated a bus with people and hurled it at Captain America. At that moment, Dr. Strange appeared and stopped the bus with a spell.

"Don't involve civilians. That was the deal."

Allen stood silently, watching superheroes he'd never seen before mixed in with some he had seen. This was too weird. He immediately called Tony.

...

Tony, fully suited up in his armor, was fighting another Tony in mid-air. They exchanged missiles, repulsor blasts—even metal punches.

"Jarvis all power to the propellant!"

"Jarvis, all power to shield!"

The Iron Man from this world was rammed by the other Iron Man, and the two of them crashed through a building while locked in combat. The first Iron Man used his chest-mounted unibeam to push the other away.

{Sir, you have a call.}

"Not now, Jarvis! I'm a little busy trying not to get killed by... myself!" Tony shouted while dodging another unibeam blast.

{Sir... Mr. Allen calls you.}

*Connected*

Allen's irritated voice came through loud and clear. "What the hell is going on?"

Tony forced a smile, even though he knew Allen couldn't see it. "It's... complicated!"

*BOOM*

Tony took a missile hit to the chest and crashed into a building.

"What happened? You okay?"

"Yeah, just almost died, but whatever. If I had to explain it..."

Allen finished his sentence. "Alternate universe?"

"Yeah..."

Allen hung up. He already had a pretty good idea of how this story was going to play out, and he didn't want to get involved. He knew that, eventually, it would reach him, but for now, he just wanted to stay out of it and let the lunatics have their battle royale. Besides, knowing Tony had other Avengers on hand, it was probably best to leave it to him.

*Panting*

Allen was about to walk away when he felt a presence. He turned to see the tiny shark from the day before staring silently at him.

"Aww, how cute~" MJ walked up and petted its head.

Gwen's eyes widened. "What kind of chimera is this?"

While little Jeff was adorable, he was still an unusual creature—having legs and walking on land despite being a shark.

"MJ, give him some treats," Allen said with a smile.

MJ nodded and pulled out a bunch of snacks from her inventory.

"Here, little guy. Take whatever you want."

Jeff's eyes sparkled. He licked MJ's hand in thanks, then devoured the entire pile in one gulp and trotted off, tail wagging happily.

"..."

MJ stood frozen with a blank stare. She hadn't expected him to take all her snacks. Allen approached and patted her head. She turned to him, hugged him, and puffed her cheeks in a pout.

Allen and Gwen laughed...

...

(Later, Empire University)

Allen entered his first class. Whether by coincidence or fate, none of his girlfriends shared this class with him. But coincidentally, he did see Susan.

She watched him walk to his seat and sit down.

"Good morning..." Allen said.

"..." Sue silently stared at him for a full minute before smiling slightly. "Bold move..."

"Oh, how times have changed. There was a time when being bold meant fighting bears or facing monsters. Now it just means saying hi to a girl."

Susan leaned on one elbow and smirked. "Oh, but I'm not just any girl. Word is, I'm quite the beauty."

Allen gave a sarcastic smile. "And you believe them?"

Susan froze for a second—she hadn't expected that response. If she said yes, it would sound narcissistic. If she said no, she'd be calling herself ugly. Susan decided to lean in close and whisper, "I want to say yes, but as you can see, I have no boyfriend, no admirers... maybe I'm just ugly."

Susan blinked just inches from Allen's face while he looked into her beautiful eyes.

"You're not. There are just a lot of idiots around here with bad taste."

Susan was speechless. Far from being embarrassed or uncomfortable, Allen had the guts to flirt in that situation. She couldn't help but blush slightly and pull back.

"Sorry, I crossed a line," said Susan, who was so used to being alone that she forgot how to maintain personal boundaries.

"No worries..."

Susan watched Allen in silence. Her blush slowly faded, but the spark of interest didn't.

...

Allen parted ways with Susan. His next two classes were with MJ and then Gwen, but both had things to take care of, so Allen went to the cafeteria alone. On the way, he saw Susan again. She looked at him, then approached.

Wednesday – I like that girl... not sure why.

Albedo – Hmph...

Allen greeted her, and they walked toward the cafeteria. But on the way, Susan heard laughter and mocking from three girls who were watching her from afar. She touched Allen's arm and told him she'd catch up with him later.

Allen nodded without thinking much of it. They'd only just met, and there was no reason to pry into each other's business.

...

"Did you hear Susan Storm has a boyfriend?"

"That cold bitch?"

"Shut up, someone might hear you!"

In one of the school bathrooms—one known for being rarely used due to its location—three girls were gossiping while fixing their makeup. They were the kind of trio you could only describe as popular bitches.

"It's like Beauty and the Beast... except one's ugly on the inside, so it's more like Beast and Beast."

Ashley kept mocking while one of her friends smiled and shook her head. "Listen, Ashley, calling the sister of the guy you like a cold bitch isn't a great idea. Haha."

"Don't be stupid, I never said I liked Johnny. I just said he's sexy and I wouldn't mind spending a night with him."

"Wow, do you really wanna try half the football team?"

Ashley smiled while licking her lips, which were covered in red lipstick. "Why only half?"

The other two girls laughed and left the bathroom, reminding Ashley not to take too long. Ashley smiled slightly and looked at herself in the mirror. She pulled a mascara from her purse and started applying it when suddenly one of the stall doors creaked open.

"...!" Ashley flinched. It was the girl they had just insulted.

"..."

"Susan Storm..." Her face went pale—not because she was scared of Susan herself, but because of her brother Johnny, who was well known for being extremely protective of his sister.

Ashley knew she had to say something. Maybe pretend it was all a joke? Maybe apologize? She couldn't let Susan tell her brother.

"Sue, I—"

Thud

"Huh?"

Out of nowhere, Ashley got kicked in the head and fell to the floor, dazed. Before she could recover, she took another kick—right in the mouth, shattering her teeth.

"Ah! Help!"

Ashley screamed, her mouth bleeding from Susan's kick. But in this place, there was little chance anyone would hear—except for her two friends, who were still noisily chatting as they walked down the stairs.

"HELP—!"

This time, she couldn't even finish the word. Susan grabbed her by the hair so hard that she tore out a large chunk. Then, without mercy, she yanked her up and slammed her face into the mirror.

The girl suffered serious injuries as Susan looked down at her and finally spoke.

"There. Now you're as ugly as you are on the inside..."

With her nose shattered and her face bleeding, Ashley stared in horror at Susan, who just gave her a cold, empty look. Her eyes were silent and devoid of emotion.

(At that moment the fantasy ended)

...

The moment Ashley realized Susan was there, she turned and tried to defend herself.

"Susan, I didn't mean what I said—"

Susan cut her off with a slap.

Ashley froze, then grabbed her cheek. Did that cold bitch really just slap her?

A wave of fury flooded through her. Ashley glared at Susan, who remained calm—ice cold. Ashley clenched her fist but didn't strike back. Instead, she grabbed her purse and walked out of the bathroom.

Susan stepped forward and leaned on the sink. She looked at her reflection in silence. She didn't know why she imagined doing all those horrible things to Ashley. Was it because of the insult? But she had endured those kinds of comments for a long time because of her situation with her brother...

Sue stared at the mirror for a while...

Then, she splashed some water on her face and watched the droplets fall one by one. Her profile reflected a pair of empty yet beautiful eyes...

...

Susan caught up to Allen in the cafeteria. She gave him a slight nod and sat down before starting to eat. Was it a casual greeting? A cold one?

Allen didn't know Susan that well, and vice versa—so this kind of greeting felt normal between them.

Susan discreetly glanced at Allen as he texted on his phone. In the middle of it, his eyes lit up and he smiled sweetly.

"..."

Susan saw it and then looked at Allen's empty tray. He had already finished eating, and it seemed he had stayed just to wait for her.

After five minutes, Susan finished her food, pushed her tray aside, and looked at Allen as she leaned on the table.

"You're a weird guy..."

Allen stopped looking at his phone and looked into the eyes of the long-haired blonde staring at him.

"I think I'm pretty normal..."

"No normal guy would sit with an outcast for lunch..."

Allen smiled. "I really don't get how anyone could cast out a girl so beautiful..."

Susan blinked, sat up straight, and tilted her head—but her messy hair fell over her face.

"You think I'm pretty?"

Allen reached out and brushed the hair away from her face. Those light blue eyes and that golden hair really were hypnotic. freewёbnoνel.com

"Yeah..."

Susan gently pushed Allen's hand away, then rested her elbows on the table. Without saying another word, she stared quietly at the strange boy in front of her.

Allen did the same until, five minutes later, he had to leave after receiving a message. Susan watched his back as he walked away—then a guy from the football team approached and placed a hand on the table to lean in toward Susan.

"Sue, you know how your brother is. It's better if you don't—"

Susan stabbed a fork between the guy's fingers. He flinched and backed away. Susan stood up, took her tray, and left the cafeteria.

...

When she got home, Susan stripped down to her underwear and lay down on her bed holding a photo of Allen. Out of nowhere, she tore it in half. She turned over and hugged a stuffed animal, curling up into a fetal position.

"..."

In her eyes, there was the purity of confusion.... and a contradictory feeling...
