I Sell Bottled Water for Gold in Another World!-Chapter 246: Cheating Bastard!
The living room at Lotus Crown Villa never felt this smaller before.
Alex sat stiffly in the center of the large sofa, as if a defendant expecting a verdict.
To his left was Riya, who was wrapped in a long coat and trying to hid the embarrassing "catgirl" costume she was wearing.
Her face was flushed with barely suppressed anger.
The tension in the room was suffocating.
Both the women are simply looking at each other over the increasingly uncomfortable presence of Alex, their eyes locked in a silent struggle of wills.
The tension is so thick that Alex could almost see the lightning crackle between them once or twice.
Lucy's expression was more sympathetic, but her kind nature did not stop her from being unhappy about sharing; no woman would be.
Riya, meanwhile, looked like she was ready to commit a murder.
The silence between them seem to dragged for a long, the situation is like whoever spoke first will be the first to be out.
But finally, what felt like an eternity passed, when Alex cleared his throat and made up his mind to say something to relieve this unbearable silence.
"So Riya, uh...." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
"Don't."
Riya's single word cut through the air like a knife.
Alex's mouth snapped shut.
Yet, Riya had not even looked at him before speaking. She continued to gaze at Lucy; studying her with an intensity that would have made most people squirm.
To her credit, though, Lucy didn't flinch. She just looked back at her, unconcerned.
Riya's eyes narrowed as she started examining more seriously.
She began with the face of Lucy, studying it in great detail
Damn it, she's really beautiful.
But then her gaze drifted down to Lucy's chest, and then a flicker of smug satisfaction crossed her face as she noted that Lucy's figure was... modest in that particular department. Especially when compared to Riya's own more plentiful endowments.
Ha! Well, at least that one is mine, Riya thought with petty triumph.
But her smugness was short-lived.
Her eyes continued their exploration, noticing the slim waist of Lucy, the curves of her hips in the fitted pants she wore.
The satisfaction that Riya felt a moment before evaporated in an instant.
Damn it, those legs.
Riya's jaw clenched harder.
She slowly turned her head to face Alex, and the look on her face caused him to wish he could sink into the sofa and disappear never to be found again.
"Alex," Riya said softly but menacingly, "are you cheating on me?"
The question loomed there for a moment like a guillotine blade.
Alex felt his throat dry up.
"it's complicated—"
"Complicated?" Riya's voice rose slightly, her calm facade cracking.
"So, please, Alex, explain to me exactly how this is 'complicated' and not just you being a cheating bastard!"
Until now, Lucy has just sat quietly, but she finally spoke.
"Sister," she said gently, emphasizing the word, "Brother Alex is not cheating on you."
Riya's head whipped around so fast it was a miracle she didn't get whiplash.
"Sister?!" Riya exclaimed disbelievingly. "SISTER?! Don't you dare 'sister' me! I don't even know who you are."
Lucy looked calm although her hands tightened slightly in her lap.
"My name is Lucy. Lucy Hartwell. And yes, I know exactly what you're thinking right now, and I understand why you're angry but you have to listen to him first.."
"Oh, you understand?" Riya cut her off. "You understand why I'm angry? How generous of you! Tell me, Lucy Hartwell, do you make a habit of stealing other women's boyfriends?"
She turned to Alex, her look a combination of anguish and rage.
"How long?" she demanded. "How long has this been going on? And don't you dare lie to me, Alex Carter."
----------
Alex stood up suddenly, unable to endure the accusation in Riya's eyes any longer.
Positioning himself in front of her, he put his hands on her shoulders in an attempt to calm her.
"Riya, please," he said softly. "Just sit down and let me explain, please."
Riya wanted to step away, but something stopped her back.
She let him lead her back down onto the sofa, but she immediately crossed her arms over her chest trying to show clear displeasure when she sat.
"This better be good, Alex," she said tightly. "Because right now, I'm two seconds away from walking out that door."
Alex took a deep breath, taking time to determine how to start.
"Listen, Riya, while it is true that I should have told you about her long back, the circumstances are such that it is hard to explain."
"Try me," Riya replied flatly.
He met her eyes, looking at the pain behind the anger, and his heart constricted.
"Don't forget I warned you," he started saying carefully. "The situation is like this, Lucy is not from this world."
"What?" Riya asked
"I've acquired the ability to travel to another world," Alex went on to say, his words rushing out. "And in that world, I got seriously injured. Lucy was the one who attended to my needs. The situation was such that we're together now. I wanted to tell you myself; only I didn't imagine that you'd show up today."
For a moment, Riya just stared at him.
Then she reached up and pressed her hand on his forehead with a furrowed brow, looking concerned.
"Wait. wait, so you're saying she's from another world?" Riya asked slowly, her anger momentarily replaced by worries. "Are you serious right now? Alex, are you ill or hurt somewhere? Did you hit your head?"
Despite the gravity of the situation, Alex almost smiled at her concern.
"See? I told you that you wouldn't believe me," he said. "Let me give you a demonstration."
Before Riya could inquire what he meant by his words, Alex suddenly clasped his arms around Riya.
"Alex, don't you dare to touch me before.....WHAT?"
White light begins to envelop both of them.
Meanwhile, Riya's eyes opened wide in shock as the sight of the room around her began to blur.
"Alex?!"
Those were the last words that Riya managed to say before diappearing completely.
Lucy sat and watched from her spot on the sofa as they vanished in an instant of dazzling white light, leaving her in silence by herself.
She settled back into her sofa, resigned to waiting for their return.
