I Sell Bottled Water for Gold in Another World!-Chapter 209: A New Resident!
Three days after their meeting at the café with Alex, Anjali sat in her car which was currently parked across the street from Emerald Gardens residential complex.
She was carefully observing her target: Yash.
She had spent the past seventy-two hours doing thorough research on Yash, studying every detail about him that she could exploit today on her first meeting with him. After all, first impressions must be strong and memorable.
For this mission, Alex had provided her with many details by asking his aunt and after adding some of her own careful observations over the past days, she had built a complete profile of Yash.
From her point, she could see him clearly in his security uniform who standing at the gate with an almost manic alertness.
One look at him revealed he was handsome. While not as strikingly handsome as Alex, he was the type of man that many girls fantasized about: tall, well built, with regular features and charming eyes. His eyes were constantly scanning every person who entered or exited the complex with intensity, but not because that was his job but because he was looking for any signs of Kirti.
"Hmm... quite a textbook obsessive behavior," she muttered to herself, taking mental notes. "He is not even pretending to do his actual job properly anymore. He is just watching for her constantly..... Ahh, what a waste of such a face."
She had already identified several key patterns in his behavior over the past few days of observation.
Yes, it was not her first time observing him on duty. She was only making her move now because she felt ready and had gathered enough information.
From what she had concluded:
Every morning at exactly 8:15 AM, he would straighten his uniform and comb his hair obsessively, preparing for the moment Kirti might leave for work according to her usual schedule.
When any young woman around Kirti’s age passed by, he would lean forward eagerly with obvious hope, then slump in visible disappointment when it was not her.
He will also check his phone every thirty seconds without fail, desperately hoping for a message that would never come from the girl who had blocked him.
Most importantly of all: he kept a diary at the security booth in which he wrote constantly, no doubt filling it with more delusional interpretations of reality.
"It is kind of .....sad actually," Anjali said to herself while watching him through her windshield.
Despite her reputation and cynical worldview built through years of manipulating men, even Anjali felt a genuine twinge of pity for this pathetic young man who had thrown away a good job and his dignity for an impossible fantasy.
But she had a job to do, and she was going to do it well. Alex was paying her generously, and more importantly, she actually wanted to help this fool before he destroyed himself completely.
She pulled down her car’s sun visor and checked her appearance in the mirror to look approachable.
Today she wore a simple but elegant outfit: a fitted blue kurti with white leggings, minimal jewelry, and natural looking makeup that enhanced her features without being obvious or overdone. Her long hair was tied in a casual ponytail with a few strands framing her face perfectly.
She looked approachable, sweet, and most importantly, completely non-threatening to someone in Yash’s fragile mental state.
"Perfect," she said with satisfaction after looking into the mirror. "Phase one of my plan: establish presence and curiosity in the mind of the target without triggering any defensive reactions."
She grabbed a large shopping bag from her back seat. She had deliberately filled it too full with groceries so it would be heavy and awkward to carry, then got out of the car with the bags.
As she approached the complex gate, she made sure to struggle visibly with the heavy bag, adjusting her grip every few steps and occasionally stopping to rest briefly.
Right on cue, Yash noticed her struggling approach.
But he did not immediately rush to help as she expected based on typical male behavior. Instead, he barely glanced at her before returning his intense focus to scanning the entrance for Kirti.
Anjali was genuinely surprised by this reaction. Most men would have jumped at the opportunity to play hero, especially someone as young as Yash.
Interesting, I like challenges, there is never a man born who can ignore my tricks, Of course taking Alex out of the equation first.
His obsession really has consumed everything else in his mind. He cannot even see other women anymore beyond basic acknowledgment.
She would need to try harder than she initially planned to break through that mind.
As she passed directly in front of him near the gate, she deliberately stumbled slightly. One of her grocery bags split open at the right moment, sending vegetables and packaged food items rolling across the ground in every direction.
"Oh no!" she exclaimed with genuinely looking distressed she immediately crouched down to gather the scattered items. "This is so embarrassing!"
This time, Yash could not ignore the situation. Basic humananity kicked in automatically.
"Let me help you with that," he said politely but without much enthusiasm, bending down to pick up a rolling tomato that was heading toward the street.
"Thank you so much!" Anjali said with a bright grateful smile that would have melted most men instantly. "I should not have tried to carry everything in one trip. That was silly of me."
"It happens, no problem," Yash said with a distracted nod, quickly gathering the items and placing them back into the remaining intact bag. "You live here in the complex?"
"Yes, I just moved in actually!" Anjali said with perfectly calibrated cheerfulness, providing information without being asked for it to establish friendliness. "Building C, fourth floor. I am still getting used to the area and learning my way around."
"Welcome to Emerald Gardens then," Yash said automatically already geeting into the role of security guards.
After gathering the scattered items he was already starting to turn his attention back to the gate. His duty was done and he wanted to return to his usual spot, Kirti will be coming at anytime.
But Anjali was not done yet with her plan.
