I Rule Fortune-Telling Livestreams-Chapter 26: Unlucky to Death
Suddenly, Granny Xunzi felt the temperature around her seem to drop a few degrees.
A gentle breeze brushed across her cheek.
She subconsciously raised her head and saw a translucent young man in a school uniform appear before her eyes.
He had returned to his handsome appearance from when he was alive. He gave Granny Xunzi a smile of relief and mouthed the words, "Mom... I’m sorry..."
"We’ll... see each other in the next life..."
After he spoke, his body dissolved into motes of fluorescent light and vanished into the darkness.
Granny Xunzi reached out, trying to grab something, but her hand closed on empty air. Tears streamed silently down her face once more.
But this time, they were not tears of sorrow or fear, but of relief.
Meanwhile, Shen Zhiyao had just ended her stream and was planning to visit the night market when a frantic knock sounded at her door.
When she opened the door, she saw Reckless Young Master Jin sitting in front of it, his face bruised and swollen.
Shen Zhiyao sighed helplessly. "Didn’t I tell you not to go out today?"
Reckless Young Master Jin said, "I took your advice, so I booked a room right here in this hotel to rest my injured foot. I just finished watching your stream and felt really hungry, so I called the front desk for room service. The food cart came quickly, but who would’ve thought that as soon as I opened the door, the cart would crash right into me? I was in my wheelchair and couldn’t dodge in time. Look at my nose, it’s all bloody from getting hit by the cart."
The bad luck in his fate was worsening by the day. Right now, it was just minor disasters, but soon it would escalate to serious injuries, and even affect his family.
Reckless Young Master Jin had no choice but to believe it. He saw Shen Zhiyao as his only lifeline, so he didn’t even bother holding the hotel staff responsible and rushed to find her instead.
"Ancestor, please help me! I’m really going to die if this keeps up!"
Shen Zhiyao thought for a moment, then casually pulled the bamboo sprig from her hair and handed it to Reckless Young Master Jin.
"Until we find the person who stole your fate, your bad luck will only get worse. This bamboo sprig has been with me for two days and has absorbed some Spiritual Energy. Keep it with you. It can help ward off some disasters for you. As long as you don’t go looking for trouble, it will keep you safe. But be warned, once the sprig withers and turns yellow, its power will be gone."
Reckless Young Master Jin took the bamboo sprig and left, thanking her profusely.
Back in his room, Reckless Young Master Jin felt that something was a little off.
It took him a while to realize what the problem was: the bamboo sprig was fresh, but it was withering and turning yellow at a rapid pace. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
’If it withers in just three days, then it’ll be useless!’
He didn’t want his bad luck to continue, so he hurried back to find Shen Zhiyao.
But Shen Zhiyao had already checked out and gone to the airport.

「Meanwhile, in the town hospital.」
Da Jiang, Da hai held the decades-old admission letter, his heart filled with sorrow.
Shen Zhiyao had told him to decide for himself whether to tell his mother the truth, and he had been mulling it over for an entire day.
Then, tonight, the doctor had issued a critical condition notice for his mother, telling him that she didn’t have much time left and that he should prepare himself.
In truth, his mother’s illness had a high chance of being cured if she were in a big city hospital.
But his mother knew he had no money and stubbornly refused to go to a major hospital. She had languished in the small town hospital for over half a month, and it was clear she couldn’t hold on much longer.
Da Jiang, Da hai lowered his head, his gaze falling on the yellowed Qing University admission letter in his hands, and a deep sense of desolation washed over him.
’His mother’s life shouldn’t have been like this...’
He tiptoed into the hospital room.
Perhaps it was a final burst of energy before the end, but his mother, who had been on the verge of death, seemed unusually lucid tonight. Seeing her son enter, she even smiled and said, "I feel much better tonight. You can handle my discharge tomorrow! It’s such a waste of money to stay in the hospital after I’ve recovered."
Da Jiang, Da hai hesitated for a moment before finally holding out the admission letter.
The moment she saw the letter, the old woman’s eyes lit up.
"Is... is this... my Qing University admission letter? Where did you find it?"
Da Jiang, Da hai replied, "I dug it up from under the parasol tree back at our old home."
The old woman paused for a second, but realization dawned quickly. Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face. "So that’s where it was... So it was him..."
Da Jiang, Da hai said, "Mom, do you hate Dad? If he hadn’t hidden your admission letter, you’d be in a big city now, living a stable life. You wouldn’t have been trapped in the countryside your whole life, working as a farmer’s wife."
A tear traced a path down the old woman’s cheek as scenes from the past replayed in her mind.
She shook her head. "My life is almost over, and your father is gone too. What good would hating him do now?"
Tears continued to fall from the old woman’s eyes as her breathing slowly, peacefully stopped.
The admission letter, more than forty years late, slipped from her hand.
A life had already been lived. What was the point of holding on to hate...?

「By the time Shen Zhiyao returned to Beijing, it was already the next morning.」
She ate breakfast out and then planned to head back to her rental apartment.
The moment she opened the door to her apartment, Shen Zhiyao realized someone had been inside.
Just then, a young woman wearing a black face mask walked out of the apartment. "You stinking bitch, you actually dared to come back? You’re asking to die!"
With that, she raised a knife and lunged at Shen Zhiyao.
Shen Zhiyao sidestepped slightly, easily dodging the attack.
Undeterred, the woman tried to strike again, but Shen Zhiyao slapped the knife out of her hand and, in one fluid motion, twisted around and pinned her arms.
Unable to fight back, the woman started screaming curses at Shen Zhiyao. "You fucking stinking bitch! You slut! Let me the fuck go, you hear me! Let me go!"
Shen Zhiyao looked her up and down. "Oh~ I remember you now. You’re the one who pushed me into the middle of the road and got me hit by a car."
Back then, she hadn’t transmigrated yet. The original owner of this body had been cornered on the street by Zhou Ye’s fans.
In the ensuing scuffle, the original owner was pushed out into the road and sent flying by a car.
The crowd was large and chaotic. When the accident happened, everyone panicked and fled the scene. No one stayed behind to help her.
The poor original owner had bled to death right there.
Now, recognizing the person, a mocking smile played on Shen Zhiyao’s lips. "To think you’d actually deliver yourself to my doorstep. Were you afraid I’d forget about you? Are you really so willing to be used by Zhou Ye just for the sake of being a fan?"
The girl shrieked, "Bitch! You’re not worthy of saying Brother Ye’s name! You’re just a filthy bug, constantly eyeing my Brother Ye, who’s like a sweet, soft little cake. Since you can’t have him, you started slandering him, causing him to lose the lead role in several dramas. I’m going to get revenge for my Brother Ye! I’m going to kill you, you truth-twisting bitch!"
"I slandered him? I twisted the truth?" Shen Zhiyao found it laughable. "Your parents know you’re this obsessed with a celebrity?"
The girl immediately retorted, "My parents are old-fashioned and won’t let me be a fan! I’ve already cut ties with them for Brother Ye! I care about Brother Ye so much, I’d do anything for him. One day, he’ll definitely be moved by my sincerity, fall in love with me, and marry me!"
At these words, Shen Zhiyao rolled her eyes, completely speechless.
Shen Zhiyao said, "I’m sorry to say, but your career as a fan is over!"
