I Reincarnated as the World's Worst Healer-Chapter 83: Two Days Until the Wedding (4)
Kanary, the moment she heard the blonde’s arrogant words, stopped just before eating her soup.
"Umm..." Lucian, trying to fix the moment, spoke with the most polite tone he could manage. "What my companion means to say—"
The servants present in the dining room drew knives that instantly extended into full swords, which they immediately placed against the necks of Ebony, Lucian, and Daniel.
"Relax... Let them explain themselves before killing them," Kanary said while resting her elbows on the table and placing her chin on her clasped hands.
"Alright, alright... calm down, spoiled girl..." Ebony said while wiping her mouth with a napkin, a gesture that angered the maid behind her, who pressed the sword against her neck, slightly cutting it.
"Ouch, bitch, calm down a little. I just wanted to wipe my mouth... But look, anyway, the thing is the necklace you sent us to fetch had a spirit inside it and—" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"And what about it? It’s normal for jewels to contain spells or protective spirits for their users," the blue-haired girl said arrogantly and angrily while tapping her nails repeatedly against the table, uneasy before the harsh truth forming in front of her.
"I have no idea about that. I only know that spirit was a toxic one, or at least that’s what the Skin Hunters who purified the necklace said," Ebony replied with annoyance while feeling the servant’s sword pressing harder against her neck.
"Skin Hunters? That’s impossible... Those savages wouldn’t help anyone just like that."
"Well, we ended up helping them destroy a Dark Elf... Look, the story’s long. The only thing that matters is that the necklace had a spir—"
Just as Ebony was about to finish her sentence, the maid’s sword sliced across her throat.
Blood began to spray, but Ebony, far from panicking, grabbed the blade and with her enhanced strength snapped it in half with one hand.
Lucian and Daniel, seeing the situation, didn’t react in the slightest. Both knew Ebony’s secret, so they were more worried about making sure the idiot blonde didn’t use her magic on herself.
However, Veronica reacted very differently. Seeing her friend’s blood, she flew into a rage and lunged at the maid, driving a knee straight into her face.
"Veronica!" Kanary shouted, trying to stop the cat girl from killing her servant. But in that very moment a sword pierced through the chair and into the wealthy girl’s chest.
"W-what...?" The girl looked behind her, seeing the wielder of the sword that had pierced her chest. It was one of the new servants the family had recently hired.
"This is for the citizens starving to death, you damn little—"
Before the servant could finish his sentence and pull the sword out, a spoon flew through the air and pierced his left eye, ending his life.
Ebony, still sitting while clutching her bleeding neck, had thrown the spoon that had just fed her moments earlier.
Lucian and Daniel, without hesitation, broke free from their attackers and with simple movements subdued the servants threatening their lives.
"Kanary! NO!" Veronica shouted with blood-stained hands, leaving the beaten, toothless maid on the floor as she leaped across the table toward the blue-haired girl.
"Vero... I..." The wealthy young woman tried to speak, but one lung had already been compromised by internal bleeding.
"Move aside, let me handle this..." Ebony said, removing her hand from her neck and revealing that the cut threatening her life was already gone. Even so, her skin and clothes were stained with blood.
"W-what? H-how is that—?"
"No time, give me a knife, now! And you idiots go get healing potions and bandages!" Ebony shouted, trying to bring the cat girl back to her senses while asking her friends for help, with Lucian rushing off immediately.
Veronica, not knowing how else to react, obeyed. Searching the dead servant’s clothes, she found a small dagger.
"There’s one here... But I don’t know if it has poison or something."
"Give it to me, quick, don’t worry!" Ebony grabbed the knife and spoke her spell, purifying the object instantly, something unthinkable for any other Healer.
At that moment the elf returned with three bottles of healing potion, placing them on the table while knocking the porcelain plate to the floor, where it shattered.
"Okay, we’re pulling the sword out now, so hold on, alright, spoiled girl?" the blonde said while looking into Kanary’s eyes, who nodded with the last bit of consciousness she had left.
With a gesture, Ebony ordered Lucian to grab the sword’s hilt from the other side of the chair. Meanwhile she began pouring healing potion along the blade that ran through the girl’s body.
Kanary screamed in pain, but Ebony grabbed her hand and looked at her with concern.
"Hang on, please. Don’t fall asleep. With this I can save you, just don’t fall asleep."
"Why are you doing that? The potion only works if you drink it! At least pour it into her mouth!" Veronica shouted, desperate from her friend’s screams.
"Her throat is full of blood. If we make her drink anything it’ll go into her other lung and she’ll die anyway. Besides, I know what I’m doing, so calm down!" the blonde shouted angrily, just as the sword finally slid out of the girl’s body.
Quickly, Ebony soaked bandages in healing potion and shoved them into the hole left in the girl’s chest, making her scream even worse than before.
"Hold on, please, hold on!" Ebony then spoke her spell.
"Heal!"
{{Magia de vida: Purificación}}
A glow emerged from the blood-soaked bandages inside the wound, and suddenly the bleeding began to stop.
With patience, amid screams, pulling out and inserting bandage after bandage, the blonde managed to close the blue-haired girl’s wound, a miracle so unusual that it left Veronica with more questions than answers.
"That... that’s incredible... How do you know... how is that possible?" Veronica looked at the blonde with admiration, admiration that slowly turned into fear because of the truth hidden behind powers outside the natural laws of their world.
"There’s still one more thing..." Ebony said while concentrating, sensing her patient’s body.
"The girl has a hemothorax... meaning fluid messing up her lung... honestly I don’t want to do this, but there aren’t many options..."
With a long sigh, mentally preparing herself, Ebony took the purified knife and a chicken bone from the soup.
Quickly she hollowed out the chicken bone, carving it thinner until it became a crude tube, which she then purified with her magic.
"Wouldn’t it be better if we went to a Healer?" Veronica asked nervously, seeing her friend covered in blood and having her clothes removed.
"Don’t be stupid... We don’t know if there are more assassins outside, or if the city’s Healers are working with these people... We can’t trust anyone so easily!" Ebony shouted angrily.
"It’s alright, Veronica... I... won’t die here without killing the bastards who planned this," Kanary said with a faint smile, trying to speak despite coughing blood every time she tried. "Now, mercenary with no manners... do what you must."
Ebony gave a small smile, compassion in her eyes, and took one last breath before cutting into the girl’s skin.
