I PICKED UP A CHILD IN A DUMPSTER-Chapter 85: Stream of Chats.
The Munch suddenly moved.
And Si Hon realized something important. He should have started running much earlier.
He glanced behind him— and immediately wished he hadn’t.
The tunnel was packed with Munches. Not just one or two. Dozens. Their bulky, twisted bodies thundered down the corridor, claws scraping through the stone as they sprinted straight for him like an avalanche of angry monsters... actually they’re angry... obviously.
Si Hon slowly turned his head forward again.
In front of him stood the heavy metal door he had just opened. Beyond it, inside the dim chamber, the massive Munches that had casually ripped a man in half was still there... then it ’banged’ the door.
Si Hon’s eye twitched.
"(°ロ°)... Fuck... what the fuck am I supposed to do..."
Behind him, one of the Munches suddenly pointed at the floating windows in the air and shrieked in panic.
"HUMAN!!! HUMAN HAS MANY BLUE THING!!!"
Another Munch stumbled over itself trying to look.
"Human strong!!! Mage woman only has one!!! Mage woman has red Human has blue! Human has many!!!"
Si Hon blinked.
Then he slowly turned toward the floating chat windows filling the air around him.
"...Y’all... are visible?"
For a moment, the chat froze.
Then the messages exploded.
「( ̄□ ̄;) Uh... looks like we forgot to tell this guy to update the settings...」
「No! We protest! It’s not our fault!!! This guy— ahem I mean Si Hon’s system should’ve updated it the first time it unlocked the chats!!!」
「Agree! Agree! We protest!!! And remember! It even forgot to update his status even though he reached level 20 ages ago!!!!」
「Shhh... guys it’s getting into the good part, and uh... you know... even if we told him about it, how can he even concentrate? When we just randomly popped out in the air while he was running ( •̀ ω •́ )」
Then a familiar bluish window popped up in front of Si Hon, trembling nervously.
「S-Si Hon... actually... uh... Si Hon quick! Use your skill and escape! I’ll tell you how to fix it after you escape!」
Si Hon stared at the window with a long, flat expression.
"ಠ_ಠ... shit, you’re right."
Behind him—
BOOM!
The metal door of the execution chamber shook violently as the giant Munches inside slammed into it again.
And the pack of Munches behind him were already getting dangerously close.
Si Hon took a deep breath.
Then he pressed the femur bone against his forehead like a weird magical antenna.
"Phew... I’ve done this a bunch of times already..." he muttered nervously.
"But... where the hell am I supposed to teleport to...?" His thoughts spilled out loud.
Suddenly—
Han-Gyeol Mimi popped into existence beside the swarm of chat windows, waving her tiny arms frantically.
「(°ロ°)! H-help! 아빠 needs help!!!! PAPAAAA!!! Just randomly think of something! Like the hallwa—」
Si Hon didn’t wait.
He squeezed his eyes shut and focused.
(The hallway... the hallway from earlier... the one where there was a rock something... actually, fuck this shit!)
Three faint blue windows appeared beside him.
He ignored them.
Behind him, the Munches were now only a few meters away.
Claws scraping.
Teeth gnashing.
One of them leapt forward.
At the same time—
CRAAANG!
The metal door beside him finally shattered as the giant Munches inside burst through it.
Si Hon’s eyes flew open.
"Kwhaha fuck you!"
The femur bone flashed.
And—
ZWOOOP.
The world folded.
The cave vanished.
The roaring monsters disappeared.
For a split second, everything turned into a blur of gray stone and rushing air.
Then—
THUD.
Si Hon stumbled forward and nearly tripped over his own feet.
He looked up.
"...Ah."
He was still inside the Munches’ lair... obviously still there.
But it was different now, he was in a hallway.
The walls were rough cave stone again, damp and uneven. A single narrow corridor stretched into darkness on both sides, faintly lit by torches mounted every few meters along the wall. Their flames flickered weakly, casting long, shifting shadows across the rocky floor.
The place was quiet.
Suspiciously quiet.
Si Hon slowly turned his head left.
Then right.
"Okay."
He wiped sweat from his forehead.
"I’m alive."
Above him, the chat windows began popping back into existence.
「HE LIVED」
「BRO ACTUALLY ESCAPED」
「PEAK TELEPORT CLUTCH」
「Streamer survives = another episode, damn... I still hasn’t sleep yet! Peak!!!」
Han-Gyeol Mimi floated beside the messages, looking relieved.
「( •̀ᴗ•́ )و Papa did it!!!」
Si Hon stared at the dark hallway ahead of him.
Then he glanced back at the bone still in his hand.
"...I swear this thing clutched so bad."
Somewhere far behind him, deep within the twisting tunnels he had barely escaped, a furious roar suddenly thundered through the cave.
The sound echoed violently against the stone walls, rolling through the darkness like a living thing.
Si Hon froze.
"...Shit."
He immediately lowered his posture and began moving again, this time far more cautiously.
The tunnel ahead stretched long and uneven, scattered with broken rocks and jagged stone formations that created small pockets of shadow. Each step he took was careful, slow, and quiet, his ears constantly straining for movement.
More than once he stopped abruptly, pressing himself behind random piles of stone whenever distant scratching or heavy footsteps echoed through the passageways.
At one point, he nearly got caught.
A lone Munch had wandered dangerously close to his hiding spot, its twisted limbs dragging along the floor as it sniffed the air suspiciously. Si Hon held his breath, completely still—
Until the floating stream chat suddenly exploded with messages...
「IS HE GONNA GET CAUGHT?!」
「BRO MOVE MOVE MOVE」
「LMAOOOOO THIS IS SO TENSE」
The creature’s head snapped upward at the flickering windows of text.
Si Hon’s soul nearly left his body.
Fortunately, before it could investigate further, several other Munches rushed past deeper in the tunnel, their screeching cries dragging the distracted creature away with them.
The moment they disappeared, Si Hon slowly slid down against the rock behind him and exhaled a shaky breath.
"...I’m going to die because of the comment section."
After a while of carefully navigating the tunnel again, Si Hon rubbed the back of his neck and looked up at the hovering chat windows with a tired expression.
"System," he said quietly, "I want to ask you something."
He squinted slightly at the floating messages.
"How do I make this stream chat thing disappear, by the way?"
The reaction was immediate.
「(°ロ°) ! NOOOOO don’t make us disappear pleaseeee stop!!!!」 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
「Yea don’t!!! Please SOB, SOB, T^T it’s pretty fun to type something when something is happening... unlike... when you were still below level 20 we could just watch.」
「WAHHHHH?!!!!! STOPPP PLEASE DONT SI HON!!!! I BEG YOUUU!!!!」
Si Hon blinked at the sudden flood of panic.
And then—
Another window suddenly popped up beside the chat, glowing in a bright rainbow color.
