Chapter 1864: One Hundred Factions, One Hundred Pillars!

"Don’t worry about the space. I’m already working on a solution," Hye said, pausing for effect.

"We already have tens of thousands of artificial planets in our inventory and orbital rings. And I promise you, I will secure even more during this coming month. The infrastructure will be there."

"One month and a mountain of things to do," Legend sighed, rubbing his temples as he looked at the scrolling list of objectives. "Can we really pull this off, Hye? It sounds like we’re trying to build a millennium’s worth of progress in thirty days."

Hye looked at his friends, the people who had stood by him since the world fell apart. "We don’t have a choice," he said quietly. "But if we do this, we won’t just be a territory anymore. We’ll be an empire."

"I can reach out to my old connections," the Lady Nymph offered, her eyes narrowing as she calculated various favours and debts she could call in. "I can likely secure a steady supply of artificial planets through the black markets and neutral trade hubs. Yet..."

"Yet you need time to facilitate those channels," the Pirate King interrupted with a heavy sigh. He crossed his arms over his chest, his weathered face etched with concern.

"Not to mention the logistical nightmare we’re facing. Once Hye ventures into those hot zones, we’ll lose all direct connection with him. Without his presence, our primary means to pay for these planets—and the capital to back our other deals—will be severely severed. We’ll be operating in a vacuum."

"I’ve already accounted for that," Hye said, anticipating their apprehension. "I’ll leave you with a massive reserve of bones, enough to handle any immediate deals and keep the economy of the territory fluid while I’m away. Furthermore, I’ve established a backdoor connection to Moth of the Hescos. I’ve already sent him a formal request for an additional shipment of artificial planets."

"Will they actually agree to that?" Lily asked with a sceptical sigh. She leaned back, tapping her chin. "I’d bet my last crystal they won’t! The Hescos aren’t known for their charity, especially when it comes to helping a rising power secure more territory."

"He didn’t outright refuse to help," Hye said slowly, choosing his words with care. "But he made it clear they won’t be helping us anytime soon. They’re playing the long game, waiting to see if we survive the coming month before they invest any further in us. We have to prove our viability first."

Legend leaned forward, his expression turning solemn. He asked the most important question on everyone’s mind—the one that had been hovering over the table like a dark cloud.

"Aside from the logistics, what else do you need from us? And more importantly... who do you plan to take with you on this expedition? Who goes into the fire, and who stays to guard the hearth?"

Hye let his gaze drift around the room, meeting the eyes of his most loyal companions. "I’ll definitely be taking you, Legend," he said, pausing to let the weight of the decision settle.

"And I need a core group of our most capable generals to come along. We’re going into the unknown; I need tactical minds I can trust. But," he added, his voice dropping an octave, "we also need equally capable leaders to stay here. This territory is the foundation of everything. If it falls while I’m gone, the expedition won’t matter. We need a steel wall at home."

"It’s a tough spot to be in," Lily sighed, though her eyes were already beginning to spark with the light of a planner at work.

"But leave the selection process to us. I’ll handle the roster. I’ll make sure to plan the splits properly, taking into consideration the future growth possibilities of the races we’re about to unlock. We need to match the right leaders with the right new populations."

"I’ll stay behind if you need me to," Isac added, his hand resting on the hilt of his blade. "I’ll keep this place standing. But... if there’s even a slim possibility, I’d love to come and see what’s out there."

Hye offered a faint, tired smile. "I’ll leave the final decision to the council. It’s a headache I’d rather not suffer from right now. Just ensure one thing: pick the ones with the strongest cultivation bases. Out there, in the raw chaos of the hot zones, we’ll win through the strength of our cultivation, not our system levels or raw stats. The system’s crutches won’t save us there."

"Leave it to us," Lily concluded, her voice firm. "We’ll have a list ready by dawn. Now, what about the other administrative hurdles? What else do you need to see settled before you vanish for thirty days?"

From that point on, the atmosphere of the meeting grew heavy and dense with the minutiae of governance. For an entire day and night, Hye and his inner circle hammered out the blueprint for the month.

They drafted dozens of plans—some fully realised, most still needing the frantic attention of the various departments.

To aid them, Hye opened a permanent portal leading directly to his Secondary Earth world, linking it inextricably to the main territory.

This provided them with a massive secondary staging ground and a fallback point for the incoming races.

As the meeting finally drew to a close, Hye stepped back, leaving his friends to execute the first phases of the grand design. They didn’t waste a second.

The first decision they agreed upon began to bear fruit immediately. They recognised that the existing, fragmented departments were no longer sufficient for a kingdom on the verge of becoming an empire. They needed to formalise the hierarchy.

The answer was the creation of Factions. They decided to expand the upper structure of the kingdom, partitioning the administrative and military power into one hundred distinct factions, each belonging to a prominent figure in the upper echelon.

These weren’t just bureaucratic divisions; they were competitive, specialised pillars designed to foster growth and allow the countless talents they had amassed over the years a chance to finally shine.

One hundred factions. One hundred pillars of the Hye Kingdom.
