I Might Have Fallen in Love With My Childhood Sweetheart-Chapter 12 - 10 Coffee Sugar
Chapter 12: Chapter 10 Coffee Sugar
It was the afternoon, and the physics teacher's spit was flying as he lectured from the podium, while the students dozed off at their desks.
Qingran was also struggling to fight off the intense drowsiness, propping her cheek with her hand as she tried to keep her eyelids up, pretending to listen intently, though her Divine Sense had long wandered off to play chess with Lord Zhou.
Xie Ying'an did a twirl with his pen, and his gaze fell back onto Qingran, whose eyes were now completely devoid of spirit.
'Clack'.
The pen dropped onto the desk, emitting a faint sound. Qingran, as if startled awake, abruptly sat up straight and focused on the podium, but it only took a moment before her head slightly bowed and her eyes became lifeless again.
Xie Ying'an: "..."
The moment the class bell rang, Qingran slowly regained her energy.
People are strange, knowing they should listen and not sleep just a moment ago, yet the drowsiness intensively assaults them. As the bell rings, the brain subconsciously knows it can sleep, and the suppressed excitement has already overcome the drowsiness.
Xie Ying'an turned his face and asked her, "Didn't sleep well?"
Qingran paused for a bit, then nodded.
Xie Ying'an turned his head back and said no more.
Su Chen walked over from behind: "Brother An, want to go get a bottle of water?"
Xie Ying'an followed him out.
Ruan Ruan saw that Xie Ying'an had walked away and then came over to sit at the desk in front of Qingran.
Qingran half-squinted her eyes to alleviate the sporadic drowsiness.
Ruan Ruan exclaimed in disbelief: "Oh my, Qingran, you actually dozed off during class today?"

Qingran looked up at her with a strained face, her drowsiness scared off slightly by her: "Keep it down."
Ruan Ruan was too excited to whisper, "Ranran, you've been my deskmate for almost two years and never dozed off. Being Brother An's deskmate for just a few days, and you started dozing off in class, really should let Old Wu see this..."
Qingran's drowsiness completely vanished now. She interrupted Ruan Ruan's endless chatter and sat up straight with a serious demeanor: "Ruan Ruan, I have something to ask you."
Ruan Ruan was used to fooling around with her. Hearing this, she blinked twice and jokingly responded, "Ask away, esteemed customer, I shall withhold nothing in my answers."
Qingran got chills and, unable to suppress her curiosity about Ji Yanchen, she gestured for Ruan Ruan to come closer.
The two girls with ponytails leaned their heads together over the desk. Ruan Ruan suddenly straightened up, looking suspiciously at Qingran, "Ranran, why are you suddenly asking about God Ji? This isn't like you."
Having been close to Qingran for so long, Ruan Ruan knew her personality as well as the palm of her own hand, always immersed in books of sages, never concerned with outside affairs.
Qingran felt somewhat disheartened, "I saw Senior Brother Ji yesterday, he seems to live near my place."
Then she had a bizarre dream that night, filled with entanglements between Xie Ying'an and Ji Yanchen.
By the end of the dream, she even saw that handsome young man standing by the window, shaking a tall wine glass in his hand. His eyes were utterly lifeless as he shook it, losing interest, and eventually dropped the glass and opened the window.
Even though it was just a dream, Qingran had a bad premonition inside. Sure enough, in the next moment, the man chuckled lightly, stepped onto the windowsill, and leaped down.
The man moved too fast for Qingran to stop, and of course, as an onlooker in her dream, she couldn't interfere either. The remaining sound of the man's light chuckle hadn't even dissipated when he resolutely jumped down from the twenty-first floor...
"What?" Ruan Ruan's voice shrieked, "Since when did God Ji live near your place?"
Nearby peers startled by Ruan Ruan's suddenly louder voice glanced over.
"Shh!" Qingran leaned on the desk, hurriedly motioning for her to keep her voice down.
Ruan Ruan gulped and lowered her head, leaning back toward Qingran, pulling at her hand in excitement, "Really, Ranran?"
Under her hopeful gaze, Qingran slowly nodded.
Ruan Ruan smiled broadly, then touched her chin, pretending to appear profound, "God Ji is following the top scholar's path, ah, excluding you, we mortals can only dream of catching up. But getting close to him and catching some of that scholarly aura wouldn't be too bad."
"What are you thinking of doing?" Qingran had a bad premonition.
"My dear Ranran," Ruan Ruan acted coquettishly across the desk, "how about I go home with you tonight?"
Just as Qingran was about to respond, the class bell timely rang. This class was Old Wu's, and Ruan Ruan, not daring to linger, swiftly scampered back to her seat.
Xie Ying'an returned to his seat just as the class bell ended.
Old Wu glanced at him but ultimately didn't say anything, as Xie Ying'an, being one of the top students in the class, still enjoyed some favoritism in the eyes of the class teacher.
But Su Chen, who had mediocre grades, wasn't so lucky. Old Wu scolded him for not being proactive in his studies.
Su Chen bowed his head and shrugged his shoulders like a quail, having nothing to say about Old Wu's differential treatment.
Old Wu's favorite thing to do during lectures was to give students doses of motivational talking. If there was ever a class without it, there was only one reason—his mood was off.
Halfway through the class, Xie Ying'an slid a pack of coffee candy across the book to Qingran.
A sticky note on the candy pack prominently read, "Don't doze off."
Qingran leaned over to look, finding Xie Ying'an with his head down reading a book, his long, straight black eyelashes unflinching under her gaze.
She withdrew her gaze and casually placed the coffee candy inside the desk drawer.
During Old Wu's class, she wouldn't dare eat anything, dead tired or not. Besides, the initial sleepiness had passed; she wasn't that sleepy anymore.
Catching from the corner of his eye that Qingran had put the candy into the drawer, Xie Ying'an pursed his lips and focused all his energy on the chemistry problems in his hand.
The bell for the end of class rang, but Old Wu still habitually dragged on. He took a sip of tea before leisurely asking, "I heard that only two people signed up for the physics competition this time?"
Everyone was used to Old Wu's habit of dragging on, and there was no longer any resentment.
The classroom was quiet; no one dared to respond to Old Wu's question, which clearly carried annoyance.
"Bang." The textbook hit the lectern with a loud noise, followed by Old Wu's heartbroken voice, "...Students, our class is a collective. If you don't care about individual honors, at least strive for the collective's honor. We managed to secure five spots; you all should..."
On the three-foot podium dedicated to nurturing talents, Old Wu criticized his students for not living up to expectations.
Bored, Xie Ying'an played with twirling his pen, endlessly entertained by the motion.
Now and then, he would glance at Qingran sitting next to him, the girl resting her cheek on her palm, seeming attentive, but her lifeless eyes revealed she was probably dozing off again.
With just two minutes left until the next class, Old Wu left them with, "Tomorrow, your physics teacher will conduct a preliminary test. The top five in physics must participate!"
Once Old Wu left, sighs of relief filled the class.
"Oh my, Old Wu is like Boss Zhou; doesn't he know people have urgent needs? Still dragging the class for so long, it's unbearable, I need to talk to the history teacher later, I can't stand it."
"Ah, a test tomorrow, and I haven't even snapped out of the holiday mood yet, I'm doomed."
"Isn't everyone the same? If I do poorly on this test, my mom will skin me..."
Amidst these complaints, Qingran quietly unwrapped a coffee candy and popped it into her mouth. The bitter taste spread on her tongue, making her face scrunch up.
Noticing this from the corner of his eye, Xie Ying'an curved the corners of his lips, diverting his gaze briefly before sneaking another peek.
The last class was taught by a young man in his twenties. His lectures were humorous and lively, making every key point memorable with various fun stories.
Qingran also enjoyed this teacher's class, and whether it was the coffee candy or the teacher's sense of humor, she managed to stay awake.
When the bell rang for the end of school, commuting students casually packed their bags with books to take home for revision, with physics books making up the majority.
At this crucial learning juncture, everyone was reluctant to let the competition eat into their time, but they still didn't want to perform poorly on the actual test.
Ruan Ruan packed her bag and saw Xie Ying'an still sitting at his desk. She didn't dare come over and just kept making eye gestures at Qingran.
Understanding Ruan Ruan's intent, Qingran walked over with her bag, "Really going back with me?"
With an exaggerated sigh, Ruan Ruan replied, "I was still hesitating, but Old Wu said there's a quiz tomorrow, I have to go and get some of Senior Brother Ji's top student aura."
"Let's go then," Qingran replied indifferently.
"Hey, hey," Ruan Ruan slung her bag over one shoulder and hurried after Qingran who had already left the classroom: "Ranran, you have to come to my place first, I need to grab some clothes..."
The two figures disappeared outside the classroom doors, and Su Chen, standing by Xie Ying'an's desk, finally withdrew his gaze.
"Brother An, shall we go?"
Xie Ying'an glanced at Huang Qianyu, who was still sitting, casually picked up two books from the desk, and walked out, "Let's go."
After Xie Ying'an had completely walked away, Huang Qianyu's tense back finally relaxed; she exhaled and started smiling with a curved lip.
Her sidekick, Sun Xin, was even more delighted than her, giggling, "Qianyu, the school hunk was staring at you the whole time just now."
Blushing, Huang Qianyu said, "Stop it, let's go."
