I Just Wanted to Be a Galactic Hunter—Why Am I on the Wanted List?-Chapter 218: A Special Commission
"Let's go inside to talk."
Loren opened the door to Room 105 and invited the salted fish embezzler, Retab Collin, into the lounge.
Retab Collin followed Loren inside, found a comfortable spot on the sofa in the living room, and then slowly began to speak:
"The background of this commission is somewhat complicated. It's a confidential commission issued by the central Interstellar Hunter Association headquarters in the Central Star Domain. In short, it won't appear in any records; I will only act as their representative to verbally relay the commission details to you."
"Put another way, this is a task with considerable risk. You'd better think carefully about whether you want to accept this commission."
After listening to Retab Collin's introduction, Loren narrowed his eyes.
"If the payment can be made on time, my interest in the work is quite high."
If you could give me 40 million Spirit Stones, I'd seriously consider attacking a Federation councilor right now... Loren silently lamented in his heart.
Seeing Loren's reaction, Retab Collin seemed to understand something. He hesitated, then tentatively asked:
"You seem to be really short on Spirit Stones. Just how many do you need to advance to Legendary Rank?"
Loren shot him another disdainful glance. "A secret."
"You can start explaining the details of the commission now."
Seeing Loren unwilling to reveal anything, Retab Collin stopped probing and began to talk about the commission:
"This is a prison break commission."
"The background of the commission is quite famous; you can even search for it on the network right now."
"The client comes from one of the Federation's old-money families, the so-called 'Transportation King,' the Ferros family."
"One month ago, a core descendant of their family, driven by a sense of justice, publicly assassinated another quite powerful old-money tycoon at a banquet—the executive director of Interstellar United Insurance Company, Hunt O'Devil."
"The young man's stated reason for the assassination was that this Interstellar United Insurance Company was always finding various excuses to deny claims, causing many Federation citizens to die from illness."
"And after the assassination, that young man was arrested on the spot by the Law Enforcement Department."
"Later, under the influence of the Ferros family, even though the evidence in the case was solid, the Federation Courts delayed and refused to issue a verdict."
"This move also angered the entire Federation insurance industry."
"Until yesterday, after the entire insurance industry collectively pressured the Federation Courts, the verdict finally came down."
"In five days, that justice-driven young man will be publicly executed."
"Right now, he is being held in a Heavy Prison, awaiting execution."
"Since most of the Federation is currently watching the Ferros family's moves, and considering certain implications, they have turned to the Interstellar Hunter Association."
"The client demands the complete rescue of that young man and his delivery to a designated location."
At this point, Retab Collin stopped and looked solemnly at Loren across from him, speaking seriously:
"In other words, to complete this commission, you must go to the Central Star Domain."
"And, you might also end up on a wanted list."
After hearing the commission's content, Loren unconsciously stroked his chin and began to ponder.
Although I already knew the Association's attitude towards the Federation was ambiguous, to dare accept this kind of commission...
I like it too much...
Loren, seated opposite, smiled as he looked at Retab Collin and slowly said:
"So the price of 10 million Spirit Stones is actually the price for getting me put on a wanted list?"
Retab Collin's face showed a hint of embarrassment.
"Due to your past experiences and background, coupled with your strength and that not-so-great reputation of yours, the central Interstellar Hunter Association headquarters in the Central Star Domain forwarded this confidential commission to me." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"In light of this, the Association's suggestion is that after you complete this commission, you should quickly return to the Radiant Flow Star Domain or go to the Beastkin Star Domain to lay low. Then, after you advance to Legendary Rank, apply to the Federation for a special pardon according to the Superhuman Administration Regulations."
"With the Association and the Ferros family's maneuvering, and considering your Nature Sect background as well as your relationship with the Security Bureau, there is an extremely high probability your special pardon application will be approved."
Loren gave a slight nod. I actually quite like this commission; it's a rather interesting task, and the reward is generous...
"Can the price still be negotiated with the client? You know, I used to be a law-abiding superhuman, the kind who's never been on a wanted list."
Hearing Loren's words, Retab Collin silently twitched the corner of his mouth.
To be honest, I'm also curious how, with your way of doing things, you haven't been put on a wanted list yet...
"Well, it's probably negotiable. For those true underwater leviathans of the Federation, ten or twenty million Spirit Stones is just a small portion of their family's liquid funds..."
"Are you negotiating, or am I?" Loren asked calmly.
"You go negotiate. Go to this address in the Central Star Domain; it's also the location for the down payment. Remember to dispose of it properly after reading it. The Interstellar Hunter Association has not accepted this commission; everything in the future is your personal action."
Retab Collin took a small note from his pocket and handed it to Loren. It had an address written on it:
Central Star Domain, Habitable Planet 78, the central city on this planet, Vester Street, a café called "Sloth's Spring."
Loren took the note, glanced at it, and then handed it back to Retab Collin.
He had already memorized the address. As for disposing of the note, better let the other guy handle it.
The lounge didn't have a paper shredder, which reminded him of a certain unpleasant memory from the Jadeite Star Domain...
"After I'm put on the wanted list, can I still accept Association commissions?" Loren asked after handing back the note.
"Theoretically, no." Retab Collin replied with a smile.
This answer made Loren nod in satisfaction. That means yes.
"In that case, I'll set off right away."
Loren stood up and gave a slight lift of his hat to Retab Collin.
"So urgent? It would still be fine to leave tomorrow." Retab Collin said, glancing outside at the sky in surprise.
During their conversation, the sky outside had already darkened.
Night once again enveloped this Radiant Flow Main City.
"No, I still have some things to take care of." After saying this, Loren spread the Black Wings behind him.
The broad Black Wings flapped gently, and Loren's figure flew out from the balcony, leaving this ancient castle he had lived in for over half a month.
As Loren flew through the quiet night sky of Radiant Flow Main City, Raven's somewhat regretful words came to his mind:
"Master, I haven't finished learning the Ancient Orcish Script yet. I'm still a bit short."
"We still have about two months left, no rush. We'll find time to learn it later. Given our current situation, earning Spirit Stones is more important..."
