Following closely behind Zhang Menglong’s footsteps, Mossang and her two nephews immediately chased after him.
"Master, where do you plan to go?" Mossang’s nephew named Luca asked, "Although we collateral relatives are not on par with the Mahalast Family’s direct lineage, we still wield some energy in this Brahma Country."
"That’s true," Zhang Menglong responded, his mind clouded with frustration. Brahma Country was just a poor nation; the Zhang Family hadn’t invested much effort there, so all their connections and resources were concentrated within the Mahalast Family.
If he were to leave now, he would even have to take a taxi to the notary office!
The thought of the world’s richest man relying on taxis for transportation within a country was quite amusing to consider.
"You two are different from them," Zhang Menglong was genuinely pleased, realizing the Mahalast Family wasn’t entirely composed of scoundrels, "What are your two names?"
"Master, my name is Luca Chopra."
"Master, my name is Sintobe Gandhi."
"Good heavens, those are high-class surnames!" Zhang Menglong recalled that in Brahma Country surnames were hierarchical, and these names were among the highest Brahman surnames.
But that made sense, after all, a prominent family like the Mahalast wouldn’t likely intermarry with those bearing lower-status surnames.
"You two are quite commendable," Zhang Menglong nodded in approval. Despite being middle-aged men in their forties or fifties, they treated him with great respect. Their loyalty appeared to come from the heart.
"Have you taken over any assets from the Mahalast Family?" Zhang Menglong inquired.
Both men nodded, "Yes, but not much. All the assets combined amount to just over one hundred million US dollars."
Though not direct members of the Mahalast Family, they nonetheless received their share of care – when others ate meat, they could drink the soup.
"Prepare yourselves."
"Prepare ourselves?" they asked, puzzled, "Prepare for what?"
"Prepare to take over the Mahalast Family’s assets!"
Luca and Sintobe’s faces showed shock—how could such good fortune come so suddenly? Could it be possible for two collateral relatives like them to take over the massive assets of the Mahalast Family?
What kind of dreams one had to have to even contemplate such an event!
But now that the real Domte’s will had been destroyed and even the official personnel had been bribed, how would Zhang Menglong reclaim those assets? After all, by registration, everything was in the name of the Mahalast Family!
"Do you seem to lack confidence in me?" Zhang Menglong asked.
The men stayed silent indeed, they lacked confidence.
"You must believe that if our family was able to support the Mahalast Family over a thousand years ago, bringing them down now would be a piece of cake," Zhang Menglong said, "You just need to be ready. I don’t want similar incidents to occur in the future!"
A glint of determination passed through their eyes, and sharing a glance, they knelt before Zhang Menglong, "We are willing to dedicate everything to our master!"
"Get up," said Zhang Menglong, "Arrange a car; I need to go to the notary office!"
"Yes!" Luca and Sintobe said meticulously.
...
They were quick; in less than five minutes, a car waited for them at the entrance of the Mahalast Family estate. Zhang Menglong looked back once, then with a somber expression, he entered the car.
Zhang Menglong, accompanied by Hong Yi and others, entered the notary office where an employee immediately greeted them.
"May I know if you all wish to have a notarial service?"
"We wish to inquire about a will," said Zhang Menglong.
"Is there a direct relative of the deceased present?"
"I am," Mossang stood up, "I want to check the will of Domt Mahalast."
The pupil of that staff member suddenly shook.
This was something that those above had instructed, no matter who came to inquire about Domt’s will, find a reason to refuse!
"Please wait a moment," the staff member led them to a workstation, "Muller, see if there’s a will set up by someone named Domt Mahalast!"
The expression on the face of the staff member at that workstation also showed subtle changes, and the two made eye contact before starting to operate the computer.
"I’m sorry, everyone, we haven’t found any will for this person named Domt Mahalast. He probably hasn’t established a will at the notary office!"
"Oh? Is that so?" Zhang Menglong smiled, "But from what I know, a person named Hamir was personally escorted to the Mahalast Family a few months ago to notarize a will."
"Sir, Hamir drowned not long ago, but all the wills are saved in our database, and our database doesn’t have the relevant information, so I believe you must be mistaken."
"I know you all are just working here," Zhang Menglong said, "and I don’t want to make things difficult for you, but please call your director for me."
"Sir, do you have an appointment?"
"No."
"Then I’m sorry, our director is very busy and doesn’t have time to meet some insignificant people!" the staff member stated bluntly.
"Then I will contact him myself. I want to see how busy he is." Zhang Menglong took out his phone and directly dialed a number.
...
"No matter what, this Huaxia man must not be allowed to take away the assets of the Mahalast Family, understood?"
"Yes, we will cooperate fully here!" The director of the notary office, Cook, had just ended a phone call.
He hadn’t expected that a simple will notarization incident would alert the core leaders of the Brahma Country, but he understood once he learned of the enormous assets of the Mahalast Family.
If these assets were recovered by the Huaxia man, it would be like cutting off an arm of the Brahma Country! This would only add to the woes of a country that was already not wealthy!
He had just put down the phone when his personal cell phone rang.
"This is Cook," Cook answered without looking at the number.
"This is Zhang Menglong," Zhang Menglong spoke in fluent Brahma Country language.
"Zhang Menglong? Zhang Menglong!?" Cook’s brain stalled for a moment, then immediately snapped back.
"It seems you know me," Zhang Menglong chuckled, "did you just receive some kind of order? Why not tell me about it?"
"Mr. Zhang is joking, what order?" Cook immediately recovered, "You are the world’s richest man, there shouldn’t be many people in the world who don’t know you."
"Alright, let’s not beat around the bush; I want to see Domt’s will, so bring it out quickly and don’t waste my time," Zhang Menglong got straight to the point.
"What will?" Cook feigned confusion, "Please be more specific. If there’s any way I can be of help, I will spare no effort."
"Still playing dumb with me?" This response was enough for Zhang Menglong to end the call, "I know you’re aware of everything. Tell that person who’s giving the orders this message from me: if I don’t see the will tonight, he will bear the consequences!"
"Mr. Zhang, I don’t understand what you are..."
Cook had only spoken halfway when Zhang Menglong immediately cut him off, "Well then, it seems that you have decided that I can’t do anything about you, haven’t you?"
"What can you possibly do?" Cook was confident internally; they had checked, and all of Zhang Menglong’s assets in the Brahma Country were under the control of the Mahalast Family, so he couldn’t disturb the country’s economic order by using the cash in the banks, nor force them to compromise through businesses.
But somehow, he still felt a vague unease.
"By the way," Zhang Menglong suddenly said out of the blue, "I heard you’re at war?"
