I Help the Richest Man Spend Money to Prevent Disasters-Chapter 420
Sheng Man glanced at the house that she was currently renting at this time— the house only had a single room and was absolutely cramped for her taste.
She had always had someone to help take care of her daily life’s routines and necessities— even if it was a big house, there were servants who were meant to clean it.
Now, Sheng Man didn’t know how to do anything, whereas the takeaway boxes that stored her clothes and shoes were piled up all over the place, making the space even more cramped and not a suitable place for a person to live.
Currently, the money Sheng Man had gotten from participating in the events would be immediately used to pay the liquidated damages. She had no extra funds to maintain her bright appearance.
Sheng Man remembered the wealthy life that she had before and also thought that she was in such a downturn now. She couldn’t help but lie on her bed and sob pitifully when she thought about how Ye Zhi’s life was turning out right now.
The opposition of Sheng Man and Song Lie would not have any impact on the couple’s relationship. Besides, most of the netizens were not going to be influenced by their opinions, anyway.
However, Ye Zhi didn’t know anything about it. She was lying on the hospital bed with that IV drip still attached as her eyes remained closed quietly.
When Ye Zhi woke up, the sky had changed its colour.
Ye Zhi opened her eyes and her consciousness was still a little fuzzy. She stared at the ceiling for a few seconds before realising that she was probably in the hospital.
Ye Zhi couldn’t remember what happened after she fainted as she had completely lost consciousness back then.
“You’re awake.”
Gu Ren’s voice was extremely clear when it reached Ye Zhi’s ear. It sounded like he had passed through turbulent waves before it got to her.
Ye Zhi looked in the direction of the voice and found that Gu Ren had stood up from the sofa beside the hospital bed, walking towards her.
Ye Zhi’s memory cleared up— she fainted because she was too weak. After being caught by Gu Ren, she seemed a little guilty.
“Gu Ren.”
Because Ye Zhi had just woken up after being unconscious for a bit, Ye Zhi’s voice was a little softer and because she wanted to coax Gu Ren, her tone sounded even weaker.
Gu Ren didn’t speak but his eyes fell on Ye Zhi’s face and he didn’t move away, as if he was observing every part of her inch by inch.
Gu Ren’s eyes were very deep, but it was evident that his emotions were hidden in the depths of those orbs. Even then, Ye Zhi couldn’t identify them clearly nor could she guess them well enough.
Ye Zhi thought that Gu Ren was angry, but when she was about to coax him again, Gu Ren stepped forward. Gently supporting her back, he helped her sit up.
“Are you hungry? Would you like something to eat?”
Ye Zhi heard the tenderness in Gu Ren’s words and immediately backed down. She knew that if she refused Gu Ren’s suggestion at this time, he would most likely not let her film her show.
Ye Zhi stretched out her hand and squeezed Gu Ren’s palm, speaking very cooperatively.
“Of course I have to eat— I’m starving.”
Gu Ren took the thermos from the table beside him and placed it on the smaller table that was in front of Ye Zhi.
As soon as the lid was unscrewed, the rich aroma wafted out immediately. Soon, the whole ward was filled with the mellow scent of the savoury dish. It was like a gust of warm wind that was constantly blowing, lingering in the nostrils of the people as it was reluctant to leave.
Ye Zhi only ate dietary meals all this time, so when she smelled such a fragrant scent, she immediately became interested.
“It smells good.”
